  • 1460 at 1.5 pounds a week atm. Maintenance is around 2200. I eat back all exercise calories, but I use a heart rate monitor to estimate calorie burn from cardio though, then take convert that gross estimate to a net estimate and thats what I record/eat back on myfitnesspal. So typically I eat between 1600-1800 calories…
  • You are correct in your assessment, its a matter of personal preference really. To be honest, with either method your should be eating approximately the same number of calories throughout the week (it won't be exact but it will be in the ballpark of eachother), but the day to day calories differ in the myfitnesspal vs.…
  • In general, it is better not to take weight loss supplements. Just count calories and exercise to fit your needs whether it be cutting/maintenance/bulk or weight loss/weight gain. If you want it for energy, I'm more than sure there are better alternatives out there.
  • Well, I kinda tested this one day with some cardio exercises and a heart rate monitor. Keep in mind heart rate monitors are estimations but it is still a nice test. I also did just the one test, so it isn't the best example. Basically what I did is I exercises for 20 minutes. Then the next day I exercised for 3 10 minute…
  • I've never even heard of foam rolling, can somebody give me some solid links to what it is?
  • Hmmm mine are: -Confidence, my weight is a big issue with my overall confidence some days -I want to feel sexy. My significant other says I am, but I don't feel it. -I'm terrified of getting diabetes or other weight related health problems my family typically gets. -Clothes, cuz this Tomboy suddenly decided she liked girly…
  • I wasn't raised on veggies, except the occasional salad. I still don't like the taste of most veggies. I have noticed a trend where I like veggies raw, the second they are cooked, idk what it does, I just don't like it. I try and have green smoothies a majority of the week now though, and the occasional salad. Snacking on…
  • I have my days go from the time I wake up till the time I go to sleep. It is easier to go to midnight to midnight for some people though. Especially considering mfp naturally transitions to the next day at midnight.
  • That is about what I paid to go to the YMCA. However, I like Planet Fitness now because it is much cheaper. If they have it in your area is 10 dollars a month, 20 if you want to bring along friends with you. They have a lot of equipment and machines, however, they don't do "extras" like zumba, pools, child care, etc.…
  • Fluffy Protein Pancakes, though I ate them at like 1pm cuz I ended up sleeping in till noon today. I need to fix my sleeping schedule  Its basically a normal pancake recipe, only I half the amount of flour and put protein powder in its place. Looks/taste like a normal pancake but it has less carbs and more protein.…
  • Or...you could count calories and eat real food. edit: Why I think that is all that needed saying, I'm going to elaborate. Weight loss is about eating a deficit, while you can accomplish this through shakes, you will find you will probably enjoy life more just eating real food. It is really easy to do to be honest,…
  • Vegies and beans give a good source of fiber and protein. If I want just fiber, and I have something like shredded wheat and banana for breakfast cereal.

  • Polar ft4 is meant to count calories during a cardio exercise period. It isn't meant to show you your burn for a 24 hour period. For something like that you would need fitbit or another arm band like it. I love Polar for figuring out what I'm burning during my workouts, as far as arm bands that estimate calories you burn…
  • I measure my things out before I eat, then I measure the leftovers. Doesn't take long. More accurate than guessing.
  • Honestly, some people will take offense no matter what you do when you offer suggestions. However, if you want to approach someone with advice like that the best thing you can do is introduce yourself, say hi, shake hands if they are not holding a weight, and then offer to show them your form in the nicest way possible.…
  • They have a modifier that you can follow, when I did my test run of alpha I followed the lady who was modifying, it was easy on my knees but I still worked up a sweat. I also have bad knees.

  • I'm starting it this monday! Feel free to friend me :)
  • Coca-Cola. Actual food I have no problem just measuring it out and dedicating calories to, but coca-cola...I could drink a galon of it. I only buy it every so often and I'll only buy a 20oz and dedicate calories to it now. If there are cans in the house, it takes all of my will power to say no.
  • In a distant future, somebody will figure out how to make a virtual reality where you can eat whatever the f*** you want and get the satisfaction. So your solution is time travel. :drinker:
  • My family uses food as a means to say a lot of things, sometimes its "I love you," sometimes it's "I'm sorry." Either way, I think a lot of families do that. Sometimes though, instead of saying you I don't' want something, or no thank you, I will put a little fluff in it, if its people who know I"m on myfitnesspal I will…
  • Eat actual food, stop taking lax, see a doctor, get a life coach.
  • Thats 2 pounds a week, or thereabouts, so depending on your current weight, it CAN be reasonable, but it would be very very difficult unless you have a lot of weight to lose. Weight loss is mostly about diet, exercise is more about retaining or building muscle, which is important. So keep track of your calorie intake vs…
  • Yeah keep in mind weight loss is about calories burned vs. calories consumed. So you could do the best exercise program in the world and you would not get anywhere if you are eating more than your burning. That being said, I was on a 5 week road trip and tested the waters a bit with alpha while doing so, I had some water…

  • I'm with Fred, if you just account for the calories of real sugar, log it in your recipe's here on myfitnesspal accurately there should be no worries. If you really want to use something other than sugar, but are ok with natural sugars in fruit, and you like banana's, they make a great sweetener.
  • Homeade protein pancakes, has egg in it but doesn't taste like eggs. Depending on how you make it, its almost perfectly balanced between carbs, protein and fat. =3 The list goes on and on, just because something is labeled as breakfeast food doesn't mean thats the only thing you can eat for breakfeast.
  • Rice sounds so good right now. I absolutely love white rice, I absolutely suck at cooking it :(
  • Don't deprive yourself of the foods you love, just eat reasonable amounts, weigh your food, and keep track of it in your diary. Have a reasonable deficit, you only have a goal of 8 lb's to lose so try a deficit of -1/2 pound a week. Try some strength training as well, I've seen so many post on the results people get :)…
  • They wouldn't even let us go Door to Door when I was a girl scout. My mother was the leader of my troop back in the day and when we went to the leadership meetings they discouraged it even back then, I imagine they flat out just say don't do it nowadays.
