  • For preparing fruits/veggies. Frozen fruit and veggies you can use right out of the package, just get ones with no additives (meaning, no added sugar, salt, etc, get the flash frozen stuff) Pre-washed veggie packages I tend to use right out of the package as well. For the fruits and veggies that are sitting on the benches…
  • Sometimes I wonder why many things on the database for non-liquids are still in cups and "x amount of chips" and whatnot. Everybody on mfp pal says "weigh everything," however half the time I have to really dig down deep in the database for correct entries that have their serving sizes by weight.
  • I wish I like eggs, all those food options!!!! I literately feel like puking anytime I put one in my mouth, I've tried cooking them so many different ways  Best thing I can do is include them in baked recipes and things like banana pancakes and such.
  • I'm 5'7" and my first and overall goal is 159 so I can be considered a healthy bmi. From there, I am going to focus on strength training and see what my weight ends up at.
  • For cardio, as long as your information in the heart rate monitor is correct, then yes. (if your using kind with chest strap) For lifting, no. There is a direct relationship between heart rate and calories burned for cardio, that relationship isn't there for lifting.
  • Spiced potatoes, roasted asparagus, marinated London Broil sliced and served up like steak.
  • If you want metric I usually do this: Baby Spinach or Kale - 45g (~1 cup) Frozen Strawberries - 45g (~4 or 5 strawberries) Frozen Blueberries - 30g (~1/5 cup) Milk - 4oz (1/2 cup) Water - 4oz (1/2 cup) Vanilla Protein Powder - 17g (1/2 scoop, scoop comes with powder) Optional: Coconut Oil or Ground Flax Seed. If you want…
  • I had never even heard of quinoa before I joined mfp last month lol.
  • You came to the WRONG place to ask about that kinda crap product. You will get a universal no from anybody that cares even remotely about your health. MFP is full of brutally honest people looking out for you. Stop taking it. Seriously. Count your calories, weigh your food, exercise, eat back exercise calories (at least…
  • I guess it can be awkward if you run into them. However remember this, you are paying them for a service, not their friendship. If you don't like their service then you have no reason to feel bad about finding a new trainer. Also keep in mind, if you feel like your trainer isn't doing it for you, don't be afraid to ask…
  • 2 pound per week weight loss is fairly extreme unless your morbidly obese. Here is the guideline I see all the time on these forums if your using mfp default method: Also, the days you work out you should aim to eat back your exercise calories, at least 50% of them. If your using mfp to determine calories burned be careful…
  • My father has Crohn's disease and takes whey fairly often, however I know he kept switching brands and pawning off certain ones to friends and tried others. I never asked him the nitty gritty details as to why but I'm assuming it is because he had flare ups. However, he has bought several 2 lb batches of optimum nutrition…
  • I find lemon juice helps cut the bitterness of kale. Also, if you are not already, cut the stems off the kale, this helps improve the flavor immensely. There isn't much nutritional value in the stems anyway in comparison to the leaves part. Also, I have found protein powder has helped the flavor of my green smoothies while…
  • I have the polar ft7 and I love it :)
  • Go to a doctor immediately and get yourself checked out. Then go by that said doctors recommendations for pain.
  • Heart Rate Monitors are designed to track calories burned through cardio only. This is because there is a pretty solid relationship between heart rate and calories burned when doing cardio workouts. This relationship is not as solid when weight lifting, and therefore heart rate monitors are not exactly accurate when used…
  • I take a flaxseed oil supplement in the morning and a fish oil supplement in the evening so I can get various forms of omega-3. Mostly just because it helps with Dry Eyes and also because I absolutely hate seafood.
  • I would ration it all out, freeze what your not gonna eat right away. I often find I get enough chocolate on valentines day to hold me over till Christmas lol. Chocolate freezes REALLY well.
  • Before joining myftitnesspal I drank welch's 100% grape juice with no added anything almost everyday for a long time. I still got stomach viruses. I don't drink them much anymore except as a special treat because it is a lot of "empty" calories. However, grape juice is SOOOOO good. =3
  • First things first. Net Calories is your Gross Calories - Exercise Calories Burned. Your "net" goal for calories consumed on mfp is a calculation based on your information. It takes your BMR, which is the calories you burn from living (aka, if you were in a coma doing nothing). From your BMR, calculations can be done to…
  • If you want something that taste really good. Have a cup of plain greek yogurt (no added sugar), and blend it with a bit of fruit of your choice. I like strawberries and blueberries. Tons of protein, tons of nutrients.
  • Potassium is not required on labels, therefore many entries won't have them listed because the nutrition information is not given to them on the packaging. You are getting more than you think you are.
  • Use the first one. Note that the first one says "gross to net" calc. While the other says "net to gross." You already have the gross, you want the net :)
  • I thought I was gonna hop off the wagon today, received a surprise package at the door that had a box of chocolates in it from my significant other. I also received a GIANT Resse's peanut butter heart from my mom. I chopped up the resse's heart into portions and froze and decided to freeze them with the chocolates I…
  • First things first, a polar heart rate monitor estimates GROSS calories burned, meaning, it includes the calories you would have burned naturally. To figure out net calories, you can either take your bmr and figure out how much you burn per minute or you could use a site like this to figure out the net calories burned.…
  • You should still see a doctor...I'm serious. On a side note, if you like jumping, have you considered getting a trampoline instead so that it isn't as much strain on your joints?
  • I play many many many ps3 and ps4 games as well as many pc games, I play skyrim and allot of the pc for the mods. Also a huge MMO gamer. Played Guild Wars 1 for 5 years, Aion for 2 years, WoW for 6 months, beta tested many things, currently playing GW2 since launch. Interested in beta testing Wildstar but have not received…
  • Is there a way to get them cheaper? I'm on a tight budget because I'm still attending college and would like to not be in debt up to my ears by the time I graduate. 24.99 + shipping for 12 seems steep to me. I kinda just want to try them for the fiber content alone, fiber is my biggest issue at the moment.
  • My very best friend found paleo about 6 months ago, though, to be honest she was not far from it anyway. She was lactose intolerant and to be honest I think she might have had a slight glucose intolerance as well because she would never feel well after eating bread and whatnot. So for her, I think it actually did a lot of…
  • I like it in green smoothies. I switch between baby spinach and kale on a bi-weekly basis. However, I've never tried the different forms of kale. I only seem to be able to find the curly kind. I swear though I need to move, I can never find it organic. I eat it anyway, but I just wish I knew what was sprayed on it. I give…
