Everything went well and I am home now. The doctor said it could not have gone any better. I am having no problem drinking water or my protein shakes and the pain is minimal. I feel way better than I expected to just a few days out from surgery.

Thank you everyone for your comments and support. I will check out the resources listed when I am home from the surgery and have time on my hands.

Welcome to this group. I am new as well. I am having gastric sleeve surgery on Wednesday and my surgery is scheduled for May 7. I will add you as a friend. Best wishes with your journey.

I do a little of both. I tend to pre-plan on the days that I work because that day is pretty structured and wing it on my days off - although I still track on the "winging it" days. I do better losing when I pre-plan.

I've lost a little over 80 pounds and have probably another 100 to lose. I am pear shaped and I do have loose skin already, especially in my legs. I'm afraid I am going to look like a Shar Pei from the waist down before long - LOL. I'm turning 60 years old this year and have been extremely overweight for about 30 years -…

I was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy about a year and a half ago. About the same time I also found out I was diabetic and had high blood pressure. In addition to the meds that I take for the BP and heart disease, I made major lifestyle changes. I have lost a little over 80 pounds in that time frame and still have about 100…

I have my activity level set as sedentary because I have a chronic pain condition and there are days when I barely move. Additionally I work at home at a sedentary job on the computer and phone all day. I don't count things like doing the dishes or making the bed - but if I am having a good day (meaning minimal pain) and I…

Hi Cindy - I have lost 70 plus pounds so far and still have about 120 or so to go - so pretty close to 200 overall at the end of things. I've been at it about 15 months so not setting any speed records - but moving in the right direction. Feel free to add me as a friend. Best wishes on your journey.

I'm almost 60 - made my mind up to get serious about changing my lifestyle due to some health issues and as you can see by my ticker, it's not too late.

Might be too much of a hassle for you but when I eat ribs, I weigh them before eating, then after I enjoyed my ribs, weigh the leftover bones and subtract to get the weight of the meat that was eaten. I then do a search for pork ribs meat only or roasted pork or whatever sounds most like what I just ate - and record the…

I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes a year ago. Since that time I have lost 67 pounds but still have probably 100 left to lose. My blood sugar was not as high as some - guess you could say I was "barely" diabetic. I was a fast food junkie and changed my diet completely. All of my blood tests in the last 6 months have been…

If you look at the big picture it can be overwhelming. I have lost close to 70 lbs. in just over a year but probably still have another 100 to lose. I agree with the poster who said not to weigh very often - I only weigh every few weeks. I also have had to look at it in small steps because the big picture can be so…

65 lbs. in 1 year with probably 120 to go. I lost 30 in 2013 - not worrying too much about quantity but what I was eating since I had found out I had diabetes, high blood pressure and heart disease. I started with MFP in Jan. 2014 because I wanted to get more serious about losing. I read about the habits of people who have…

I have gone from 346 to 284 in the last year and still losing.............My A1C went from 6.4 to 5.9. I'm due to have it checked again and I'll bet it's lower than that now. I do not have to take any medication for my blood sugar, although I do take blood pressure medicine and heart meds - BETA blocker.

My highest weight which I reached 2 years ago was 352 lbs. and I am 5 ft 4 inches tall. I had to make major lifestyle changes due to health issues and started those changes last April or May so been at it about a year. I was 346 when I started my lifestyle changes. I lost 30 pounds in 2013 just by changing what foods I was…

A year ago I was feeling so bad that I finally went to a doctor who referred me to a cardiologist. I was told I had cardiomyopathy and my ejection fraction was 30%. I also found out that I had diabetes and very high blood pressure. I already knew that I had sleep apnea but was not treating it. Since that time I have…

I was a fast food junkie for over 20 years. Now because of health issues I have to really watch my fat and sodium. The first two weeks was the hardest for me - all I could think about was getting some fast food. It doesn't help that there are several fast food places right across the street from my house - LOL. After a…

I am 58 years old and have been overweight beginning in my 20's and wound up at my heaviest weight of 352 in my early 50's. I have tried to lose weight more times than I can count and have been pretty successful at losing numerous times - it's the keeping off part I have a problem with. About a year ago I was feeling so…

It's pretty common to lose a bunch the first week - I have learned not to be alarmed when I don't lose what I think I should. Sometimes I lose little or nothing for a week or even a couple of weeks and then I'll have a big loss. I just keep plugging away and working my plan knowing that the weight loss will show up.…

I have found that I am less hungry during the day if I eat a hearty breakfast so it is often one of my biggest meals of the day - especially on days off. It seems like if I don't get some protein like eggs at breakfast I feel hungry the whole rest of the day. For example yesterday I had 2 eggs over easy, 2 slices of 45 cal…

You can add me as a friend if you like. I am 58 - 59 in November - and also have over 100 pounds to lose. I lost 30 pounds in 2013 before joining MFP and getting serious about losing it a bit faster. I have lost 16 pounds so far in 2014. My goal for 2014 is 70 lbs. That will still leave me with plenty to lose but I thought…

Great job! I love biking and have a nice bike getting old in my storage shed. It's been years since I have been mobile enough to try it again - but I think I'm getting close. I look forward to that day. Keep up the good work.
-
I agree with the other posters who said to set small goals for yourself. I have lost over 40 pounds in the last 10 months and am just a bit under what you weigh now so I know where you are coming from. I set a goal for myself of 70 pounds for 2014 and am 12 pounds into that. Best wishes for success - it sounds like your…

Good luck with everything. I am here for similar reasons. I have read that people who are successful with long term weight loss have several things in common and two of those things are logging your food and making a public commitment - so that's why I am here. It helps to have other people looking at my food choices and I…

My cardiologist wants me to weigh daily in case of water retention - if my weight varies by more than 5 lbs. in a day I have to call the doctor. But for tracking my weight loss, it's Monday morning.

Feel free to add me as a friend. I have about the same amount to lose and have struggled to lose it my entire adult life. Recent health issues have given me more focus - as my profile says I am not yet ready for the big dirt nap. I lost 30 lbs. in 2013 and have a goal to lose 70 lbs. in 2014. I am 12 pounds towards that…

I am 58 years old and just at the beginning of my newest and I hope last attempt to change my life. Feel free to add me as a friend. You have done a great job.

I watched the show and was shocked too by how thin she was and how gaunt her face looked. I hope that she puts on maybe 10 lbs. now that the competition is over. I think she went too far.
-
Feel free to add me - I lost 30 lbs. in 2013 and my goal is to lose 70 in 2014. Even if I succeed at that I will still have a bunch left to lose - just way too overwhelming to look at it as one big number.
