Hi PJ! Going to be 68 this Sunday and am recommitting myself to healthy low carb for the umpteenth time, but due to a recent health issue, I know I can and will succeed. Looking for friendly mutual support especially during this treacherous holiday season.

Yay Y'all! Feeling positive is what it's all about ... 3 mile hike today! On target to meet macros including my one adult beverage! Life is good!

Funny you should mention it ... I have just decided that dairy is undoubtedly my enemy. I have been on a stubborn plateau for a long time, so I'm off dairy. This is a challenge ... to say the least. I pretty much love all cheeses! Not swearing off completely, but going to serious limit my consumption and see what happens!

Happy February, everyone! I've been back on MFP for 85 days now. My goal for both November and December was not to gain, which I accomplished. I lost just 3 pounds in January and I am ready to step it up!!! Here goes: 1) Log in every day. 2) Stick to my new IF 18-6 Keto lifestyle. 3) Exercise 1 hour a day. 4) Hike twice a…

The scales just weren't moving on low calorie, so I have been doing keto for five days. Have lost the 2 pounds gained (that I didn't report) while I was snowed in for 3 days. Like you, Carole, it just feels right to me. My body is adjusting well. Can almost feel the fat burning!

Maybe a bit late, but my challenge for January and throughout 2016 is to shed my bad habits and embrace the new ones, mostly as it relates to food. Specifically, I will log in every day, exercise every day and consume fewer than 1,200 net calories, with a goal of consuming less than half of the carbs I am allocated. You…

Love my Chacos, although I've tried the ones with the big toe strap and couldn't get used to them. I also wear Keens for hiking.

I know how you feel, DreamOn ... Here it is Monday once again and I'm starting with a determination to have a good week. Two holiday events over the weekend and though I didn't "over indulge," I did indulge. Thanks to exercise both days, I managed to come in close to goal! Hope everyone has an excellent week!

Thank you, LW365, for posting this question on being consistent! And thanks to all who responded ... your words of wisdom are exactly what I needed to hear. I'm 66 and I've been up and down most of my life. I so want this to be my last "diet." I want ... need ... a healthier attitude toward food. It is about choices and…

Happy Holidays, All! Constant mindfulness really is the key! Thanks for the reminder! My travels are over until Christmas day, so I'm looking forward to having a couple of weeks when I'm in control of my daily life (except for a few holiday events.) My December Challenges: 1. Log in every day! 2. Walk at least 60 minutes…

Family and friends! Very little matters much if you have these. I've always been with my son and extended family since he married 24 years ago. This holiday, I'm with my daughter and her wife in chilly New England. I'm grateful for my health, the freedoms I enjoy, the lobster and clams we'll enjoy this afternoon and for…

Update: Been at my daughter's in New Haven, CT since Friday. I've been way over my calorie needs and haven't exercised since I left home on Thursday. Frankly, the only personal challenge I've been able to keep is to log in every day. We're in center city and walking alone is not considered safe. Starting tomorrow, I will…

Thanks, sharondtd! By the way, I have a P.S. 5. Log in on MFP every day!

November challenge: 1. Walk 1 hour every day (Hope it doesn't rain ALL month!) 2. Stay within my daily goal of 1,200 calories. 3. Be strong and eat healthy throughout my sisters' visit and Thanksgiving! 4. Weigh less at the end of the month ... :) Life is GOOD!

Good luck to everyone with your resolutions! I usually make a list of them. This year, I made 1: Climb more mountains! and I mean it figuratively and literally. Started out with a misty hike up our local King Mountain. It's only 1,043 feet and my ascent was about 650 feet up a 1.3 mile trail. So, I plan to climb 100…

I love winter ... but it is rather mild here in North Carolina. I live in the woods and thrilled that hunting season is over so I can roam without worrying about being mistaken for a deer or bear! Hope everyone has a fantastic week!

Glad to see all the other returnees! I'm back after an 18-month (and 21-pound) relapse! This is it! For me, it's about improving my health and getting into shape for the decades to come.

I'm grateful for family, friends and a supportive community like MFP and this group to help me achieve my quest for a healthy lifestyle. My one New Year's resolution for 2015 is to climb more mountains ... and I mean that both literally and figuratively!

Sounds like we're all ready to go! Janet, (Love the DamitJanit, I'm a big Rocky fan!), I live in the middle of the Uwharrie National Forest near Badin Lake. I'm moving to the town of Star, population 870, in the same area. Marla from Troy, NC

Thanks for the clever intro to January and 2015! Here I go again ... Turning 65 last month and having to go on blood pressure meds was a wake-up call to quit berating myself and do what I know I need to do to get fit and healthy. First thing is to get rid of (for good) these extra 35 pounds I'm lugging around. Going to be…
