Yep - I had to tell my husband and mother in law- buy your own treats (I do the grocery shopping and cooking)- then I say-"NOT MINE"! I buy myself fruit, bananas, apples and grapefruit, also fruited yogurts as my treats- still sugar but at least they have vitamins and fiber.

I think you need to discuss this with your physician. It sounds like you have multiple health issues. For instance - are you checking your blood sugar. One of the first signs of elevated blood sugar is excessive thirst. You say you are on a "water pill" but not what or why. I am not suggesting you tell us about your…

Add me! I'm over 50, 5'2 and 164 and I want to pare the fat off my torso!-I hate those rolls and I know they slow me down. I joined last year after an injury to gain some strength and it worked but I fell off the wagon - so I'm back, because logging in my food and exercise is the only thing that works for me!

Wow! There are a lot of us! This is the place to lose and it looks like there are a lot of us in the same boat! We can do it together!

It will not hurt you to eat less one day anymore than it will hurt you to eat more tomorrow. You are not a machine that runs on gas. You are much more sophisticated than that. I have even heard that it is healthy to fast occassionally. I think it is important for weight loss to average 1200-1400 calories a day but that can…

The younger you are and the more active you are the more you can eat. Your metabolism slows down as you age. Muscles burn more calories than fat. You can move faster and longer when you are young. It is best if we learn how to live a healthy lifestyle when we are young, then keep it up so we will have and know how to keep…

Thank goodness MFP doesn't go any lower than 1200 calories. LiveStrong used to recommend 1100! I am on a 1200 plan but I exercise and eat back some of my calories. I generally end up at 1400 a day with one or two days more than that. I am concentrating more on getting stronger and having more stamina, so I try to eat the…

Good luck You can do this!:flowerforyou: if you need a friend feel free to add me!

I used to take Advil 3 times a day due to muscle and joint pain. Then my NP suggested trying Fish oil and it really helped the pain and I only needed Advil occasionaly. I added Osteo Biflex last spring after a knee injury and feel like I am pain free most of the time now. Occasionally I have some soreness after a workout…

I like Leslie Sansone too. I have 3 of her videos, 1 has 5 different workouts, 1 has 7 different workouts and 1 is a 3 mile walk with HIT intervals. These videos have strength training, pilates, and walking with knee lifts, kickbacks, kicks etc. I also have a self magazine video and a Kathy Ireland video that I use on…

Get to a point in your video when you are slightly short of breath and sweating and take your pulse for 15 seconds and multiply times 4- that is your heart-rate and should be the same as the heart rate monitor. If you are unable to say more than a few words and are sweating you should have a good heart-rate.

I am 65 and use videos, especially the Leslie Sansone walking videos for my exercise. She incorporates a lot of squats, knee lifts, kick backs and sidesteps into her videos to work all the muscles of the legs and butts. I find her videos a much better use of 30 minutes than the treadmill. She also uses weights, pilates and…

WOW- 6 pages???!!!! on this one little topic. I really appreciate the information. I am 65 and lucky if I spend an hour exercising 6 days a week, so I will probably never use the info but I am sure someone needs it. Everybody is different and even though everyone is calories in-calories out now, everybody uses food…

Any way, getting long winded. My point is, find your strength. Your strength is where your beauty and your self esteem will come from. I'm not sure what your strength is. It's not in our physical appearances, but once you find that strength, that THING that makes your heart sing, you will light up from within. And THEN you…

Without seeing your diary it does look like you need to eat more. What are you doing to burn over a thousand calories in exercise? How are you measuring it?

Mine have been down for a week now. It was really hard to take them down this year because it was so dark and cold and snowy- I thought I would be really depressed without all the lights---but it's kinda nice to have all the clutter gone. I need some generic winter decorations though- it's kinda early for Easter…

Why would you want to use almond milk? Unless you are lactose intolerant or hate the taste of cows milk I can see no reason to use almond milk. They fortify it to make it look like it has the same nutritional value as cows milk but with the whole natural foods thing, how much more natural can you get then cows milk. Many…

Buying in season and on sale and freezing are the things I find most helpful. I look at the ads for my local stores the night before I shop to see what is on sale. If ground meat and salmon are on sale I buy 3 dinners of each and freeze them. This way I always have a variety of meats in the freezer. I buy what we can eat…

I need to be taller and younger!!! I'm 5'2" and 156# and 65 years old and need to exercise 30 min and eat 1200 calories to lose less than !# a week. I set my lifestyle at sedentary because there are days that I am sedentary. Also I usually exercise more than 30 min. I use a HRM and add in my calories and usually I eat…

You will lose weight. I know you will. You may feel your body is disgusting but It's really not. It's an amazing creation that can do wonderful things- you just need to mold it a little and you CAN do it. I can tell you are a smart, thoughtful woman. Treat yourself well. Get your hair or your nails done, get a massage or…

It sounds to me like you ARE doing it! I loved all the posts and got a lot of information, but the bottom line is you say you ARE exercising, you ARE cooking and eating healthy and you HAVE lost 8#s. The only thing I haven't seen is why you want to lose weight??? That's something to keep focused on. Personally I want to…

Hi - please - there is no place for hate in your life. You are a wonderful person who just happens to be overweight- the weight doesn't define you! I too am an overweight person, living in the US, with 5 kids and 10 grandkids, who has lost and gained, gained and lost ever since menopause. I am new to this site, starting…

Hi, I am new here also. I had been on LS for years but their changed format is impossible for me to use so good -by LS. I need to record my intake and exercise to keep me motivated, and I want to get leaner and stronger this year. I also would like friends so please add me as your friend- we can motivate each other!
