Ah, they're a bunch of weenies if they can't take the truth. I'm another meanie, obviously.

I love jeans, and I think a good-fitting pair of jeans looks good on anyone, even if you're overweight. My favorite is straight-leg 5-pocket jeans with a natural waist. I also wear a petite size, not because I'm skinny -- I'm not -- but because I'm short. Good for you! Now, a good pair of boots and some snazzy sweaters to…

Interesting thread. I recommend that you look at ebay regularly, just sort the listings by "recently listed" so you only look at newly listed stuff. I recently needed new clothes and got several pairs of jeans on ebay for very reasonable prices -- I actually scored one new pair of jeans for 99 cents plus shipping. I just…

Also, find a good sports massage therapist. Sometimes the problem is an imbalance in calf muscles causing the tibialis anterior to overwork to compensate for the tightness of other muscles.

Yes, I do better when I'm totally honest with myself -- record every bite no matter how much I regret what I ate. It does help me make better decisions and keep progressing. If you want Denny's, eat a meal there, record every bite, and then make up for it with some exercise, and balance your food the rest of the day. It's…

I was dieting for three months before I saw a real difference. All of a sudden I was down two sizes in my jeans, which was very encouraging. Just hang in there and you'll see the changes one of these days.

I like to eat leftover protein from dinner the night before -- throw a couple of cooked chicken legs or pork chops or meatballs into the refrigerator after dinner and eat them for breakfast. Yummmm. I also like Belvita breakfast biscuits -- I don't know how much protein they have, but they taste good, are convenient and I…

People keep telling me that starch makes you hungry, stuff like pasta, rice and bread. I suppose it's true. I am noticing that the more protein and salad I eat, the less I want to eat pasta. I think the poster above me may be right, it might be the combination of foods you are eating.

Lots of good encouragement here. I enjoyed all the recommendations you folks posted. Think about this, too: you don't want to be 64 years old and saying to yourself, as I am, "this is the LAST time!" I've had weight problems my whole life, would have been nice to get a handle on it when I was your age! Also, one of the…

You are young, which is an advantage. If it takes you two or three years to lose weight and become more healthy, you'll still have lots of years left after that to enjoy life more and more. It helps me to learn more and more about nutrition and healthy living. I like to get online every day and read something helpful that…

musk in perfume -- it's disgusting and I can't stand to be near people wearing it o/w I love most of those smells you all hate!

So your net calories would be 1600 - 900 = 700. That is too few calories. Eat 500 more at least to get up to 1200 net calories.

I agree -- keep seeing your therapist and work with a doctor to tweak your meds until you get the combination that works for you. You may have to try several different things, be patient and keep working on it. Drag yourself outside every day if you possibly can, even if all you do is stand in the doorway with a cup of…

I second hummus -- I think it tastes great on sourdough toast.

I get a similar but milder set of symptoms when I eat a lot of calories at once. I have been thinking it was my gallbladder, because part of the pain is similar to a gallbladder attack I had once. I can't eat as much as I used to, which is all right with me! It feels yucky, sort of like the flu, sort of like a gallbladder…

No advice, just want to say that Norovirus really sucks and I'm glad you feel better now.

I agree that decent bread is not a problem. The problem is high-calorie bread made with bleached white flour. I make my own bread quite often, and I love those whole-grain seed breads, sliced thinly. I just don't eat as much nowadays. Not so likely to make a sandwich if the bread calories are higher than the other…

Jeez, I'm old. I don't suppose any of you remember shows like Sky King and Penny, or Rin-tin-tin, or Lassie on Saturday mornings? Kid shows have changed a lot in 50+ years.

I remember reading an article by a nurse. She said that she had hoped that her nursing training would help her to be a better mother, but it turned out that all she ever said to the kids was, "don't bleed on the carpet!" I thought that as a massage therapist I could help people with all sorts of problems. But when my…

Skinny Cow ice cream sandwiches And you're right -- many of the foods advertised as healthy are no better than Oreos. Go ahead and have the Oreos once a week if you like. Buy a single serving pack and eat it with joy and then go back to your "clean" menu.

I think what you are doing isn't sustainable -- eventually you will just be too hungry. Losing 15 pounds in a month is a lot, I think 8 to 10 pounds a month is better. Others will probably chime in, with more information. But my own experience is that extreme dieting doesn't work in the long run.

If you want some ideas, google the DASH diet and read up on it. You'll get a lot of good ideas on what to eat, plus ideas on portions. Write down everything you eat -- that's more important than anything else, I think. It keeps you honest with yourself, keeps you focused. And if you eat something you really want that is…

You sound depressed to me. Go to a doctor and get a physical, tell the doctor how much you are sleeping and eating, and ask for help. Get that under control first. Then you'll feel more optimistic about working on your weight, and about getting more exercise. Not everything can be fixed by diet. Sometimes the food is the…

Bribery. Put on a pot of coffee and see how much exercise you can do while it brews. Run in place while waiting for water to boil. Go outside and go up and down some stairs for ten minutes while the microwave cooks your potato. I kind of like the idea of "paying" for what I eat by exercising for ten minutes or so before I…

Do you have access to counseling at your school? I think it would help you to work on your self-image with a psychologist. I spent a year going to a counselor and it helped enormously. As for weight loss, just go on recording your meals every day. It helps a lot to do that. And I think maybe you should try to take a walk…

old lady whovian here -- I love all the doctors - 9 through 11 that is. However, the writing of the shows has taken a serious downturn. Matt Smith is wonderful as the doctor, but the writers aren't giving him good stuff to work with. I have a feeling the Capaldi Dr. will be more for children than adults. Who knows? As for…

Ballroom dancing is a lot of fun. I think that the foxtrot and the Viennese waltz are great workouts, and Latin dancing is too. I loved dancing until I hurt my knees -- not from dancing, from a fall -- and would still do it if I could. Why wait for funds? Put on some music and get up and dance! BTW, I had ballroom dancing…
