  • Why not make a homemade burger? I prefer homemade burgers to anything I would get in a fast food joint or a restaurant. Use lean ground chicken or turkey. It will be lower in calories and will still help your craving...unless you're craving a burger from a specific restaurant.
  • I weight 156lbs at the moment. My goal is to get a 27" waist. I'm currently at around 29.5". I'm guessing I have 10-15lbs to loose to get to 27". I would say I have a medium/large frame. I think 140lbs is probably the lowest I can go. I'm happy with my muscle tone at the moment, so my goal is to maintain that and to lose…
  • I walked a 5k trail (on very soft snow) in the bush last weekend. This walk was extremely challenging. I added 30% to my calculation to estimate calories burned. I'm an avid runner and walking this 5k trail felt like I ran 15k. If you feel like you worked harder walking through bush than walking on a road, it may not hurt…
  • I was at 1200/1300 calories per day for about 6 days. Ugh, come day 7, I was tired, lethargic and unable to concentrate at work. I upped my calories to 1500…same thing. I went over my caloric intake during the evening on day 8 and I felt frigging amazing afterwards. I adjusted MFP to lose 1 lb per week. To do that, I…
  • I tried workout out in the morning and I can't do it. The only exercise I can do in the morning is either walk or bike to work. It must be a mental thing. I'm ok to workout beginning at 8:30am but that's when I start work. I usually workout at my lunch and maybe after work.
  • I love Saucony. It's the only running shoe brand I buy. :)
  • That's sounds kind of good.
  • Not a fan of almond butter. I'm a peanut butter/Nutella kind of girl. Luckily, I'm able to limit myself with how much I eat of each. I always have a few jars floating around the house.
  • I agree that this term is a form of body shaming. If a person exercises regularly and eats a healthy diet, they most likely have a healthy body fat percentage. However, some people may refer to them as "skinny fat" if they do not look a certain way in a bikini. Whatever floats your boat, I guess. ETA: In no way am I…
  • Seems that "skinny fat" means different things to different people. As long as you are comfortable in your body, feel good and have a healthy BMI and weight, who cares if you're "toned" or whatever. Some people don't like lifting and I think that's ok.
  • With those water temps, set aside some $$$ to buy a good tri wetsuit. Also, make sure you practice with it a couple of times before the race. That includes getting in and out of it. Make sure you read about prep and transition. Those are very important subjects when training for a tri. You can do it!
  • Use whatever machine you fancy. Exercise is so much easier when you do something you enjoy.
  • I'm so sorry. Sounds like your neighbour might be a little insecure about herself. This is easy for me to say, but simply ignore her or tell her that discussing your weight makes you uncomfortable. Remember, you can lose the weight but she can't lose the stupid. Also, is it imperative that your kids have play dates with…
  • Hhhmmm, just eat them in moderation. If you binge on those foods and cannot control the portions, don't keep them in the house. Out of site, out of mind. Find a cheese with a lower calorie count. For salami…the only other alternative I can think of is to cook some turkey sausage and cut it into pieces and eat those instead…
  • I wear a 34DD and always wore two sports bras when running…until I purchased lulu lemon's "Taming the Ta-tas" sports bra. It's the best bra I've ever purchased.
  • Eating 5 low carb wraps per day doesn't sound like a long-term lifestyle to me. My friend followed a low carb diet and lost a lot of weight. She gained it back (and then some) a months/years later. There is no secret formula to weight loss. If you follow a balanced diet and exercise regularly, you should see results.
  • I have nothing to add to this except to say congrats!!! I agree that measuring your waist is much more motivating than stepping on a scale. I lost 0.25 inches in a few days. I'm so pumped. Hopefully I'll get down to a 28" waist in 3 weeks.
  • January 9, 2013 - recumbent bike 17 miles
  • I can't stand Tim's. Yuck. If I want black coffee, I go to MacDonald's. It's pretty good.
  • I drink black coffee. It was difficult at first, but became easier as time went on. I can't stand anything in my coffee, now...maybe a splash of Bailey's. ;) Buying a good quality coffee makes a difference. However, if you are on a budget, sprinkle some cinnamon on the grounds (if you're using perked). It really improves…
  • I have very toned legs and don't do much weight training. I attribute this to cycling. I ride a hilly route during the summer and cycle with a high resistance indoors. Can that cause muscle gain? I'm not at all bulky or anything. Not that it would bother me anyways.
  • I eat when I'm hungry. So far, I had a 500 calorie deficit one day and 30something yesterday. I feel good so far. I say go by how you feel. I do workout pretty hard, so I'm mindful of that as well.
  • My run outside always feels more challenging than my run on a treadmill. I despise the treadmill with the heat of a thousand suns.
  • I got good results when I was walking approximately 10km per day 5 days per week. If you walked to and from work at a brisk pace, I think you would get great results that way. Throw in some regular strength training and there is not reason why you won't get results. Of course, you have to keep your food intake in mind.
  • I'm currently able to hold a 2 minute plank. I was at 2.5 min a few years ago. I would love to get back to that in the next couple of weeks. I'm in.
  • When it comes to food, I have a lot of control. When it comes to cocktails, not so much. LOL. Do whatever makes you feel good. If you over-consume food and beverages, just make up for it the next day and the day after that.
  • Curries and hot sauces will spice things up nicely.
  • Yes, I consider myself fit. On average, I workout 1.5 hours per day. Because it's winter and we acquired a new puppy, I've been walking a lot. Between 5k to 8k per day. In the summer months, my main exercises are running and cycling. My goal is to complete an Olympic triathlon this summer. I started ramping up my swimming…
  • Good old fashioned push-ups, planks and tricep dips have worked wonders for me. I got AMAZING results doing these exercises. I have weights, but for some reason, I dislike doing them. Using my own body weight seems to be much more challenging.
  • I'm planning a 15k walk with a friend so that I can have a spaghetti supper with a piece of chocolate pudding pie afterwards… MMMMMMMM!!!! I'm looking forward to the weekend now. :)
