Protein - everyone's all about the protein these days. Even foods that don't have a lot of protein - like cereals that have 8 g of protein when served with milk!

OT, I know, but this made me laugh! I would do the same. Cubic inches is a perfectly good unit of volume.

If you've got an addiction with a 2 cup per day habit, I hate to think what I have with my 4-5 cups per day habit! Just drink it black with artificial sweetener if you need it. You can splash in a little milk if you need the creaminess.

Just this week I had a conversation with my 10-year-old son about political yard signs. He was surprised to learn that the property owners put the signs up to show their support for particular candidates. Apparently he had believed that the government put the signs up wherever they wanted just to let people know who was…

Time to enjoy a world famous Coach Z "sog dog"

I live in Wisconsin. It is winter. That means I should restrict myself to milk, meat, cornmeal, and root vegetables for the next three months? Oh, and beer. That would be OK. Unless that's a processed food.

Carlos_421, this was my experience as well. I'm baffled when fellow commenters don't have this experience.

50 lbs here. Nope.

Also, there's this. Don't be this person:

OP, I get it. Before I got serious about losing and maintaining my weight, I would frequently pass through the drive through for fast food breakfast, or for a snack on the way home, some days both. When I tried to stop doing it, I'd be successful for a few days, but then some perturbation - a bad day, a hunger pang,…

I get it all the time too. It's bizarre to see, especially when I'm wearing shorts and there's motion all over my quads.

100% for me. Exercise calories taste the best. NB: I do take care to make sure my numbers are reasonable.

@AnnPT77, this is extraordinarily useful. Thanks for this post. I wish we still had the Awesome button.

My wife likes a "flat white". Sometimes I'll get espresso or drip, or an espresso macchiato (not a caramel macchiato!) When I was in Spain I was introduced to cortado which is like a macchiato but with a little more milk, and darn tasty.

Baked potatoes. I'm amazed how full I feel after one or two of those babies.

We start our Cub Scouts with BB guns and archery when they are Tigers, i.e. 1st grade. And we usually let younger siblings shoot at camp, too. They don't touch .22s or shotguns until they are in Boy Scouts, though.

Coffee in the morning, Coke Zero or Diet Dew in the afternoon, craft beer in the evening. Water throughout.

Mrs Jruzer has no thyroid. It was removed via surgery about 14 years ago. She therefore has the most serious thyroid condition imaginable. She has to take a dose of artificial hormone, Levothyroxine, daily. She will have to take this for the rest of her life. If she were to stop taking it, her metabolism would slow down so…

Gotta go with pizza, too.

I'm late coming into this thread. Sorry for my tardiness. I was exploring my future. ;) @sjp_511 , @__TMac__ , @ryenday , @MaggieGirl135 - you all know that these magazines are put out by different publishers, right? "Boys Life" is put out by the Boy Scouts of America for boys (and girls in Venturing). "Girls Life" is put…

Drink what you like. There's no accounting for taste. That said, I'd rather have one DIPA at 280 kcal per bottle than any kind of shandy or light beer. In my opinion, Shock Top is an ABInBev product, and Blue Moon is a MolsonCoors product, so I'll pass on both. U.S. Brewery Ownership:…

Food is not bad.

This one swings it pretty good: https://youtu.be/M-b3iU-INDo

Christmas music trope: Any slower Christmas song can be improved by adding a wistful rendering of the first line of jingle bells at the end.

I just ran into this one. I'd totally forgotten about Gaudete! (Plus this weekend is Gaudete Sunday.) https://youtu.be/BaTeascyDq8

Oh my goodness, yes! Dan Fogelberg's "Same Old Lang Syne" - NOT a Christmas song "My Favorite Things" from The Sound of Music - NOT a Christmas song

I love this one!

Relevant to the OP, is anyone familiar with the "Most Wanted Song" and "The Most Unwanted Song"? Similar to this Christmas piece, they put elements together based on opinion polls about what people wanted and didn't want. It's fascinating. The Most Wanted Song is a mush of pabulum, and the Most Unwanted Song is a…

Some good responses and good taste here. I'm a traditionalist and really dislike a lot of what is resonating in the ether right now. "Last Christmas" makes me want to plunge my fist through a plate glass window. "Christmas Shoes" is nothing but a cynical cash grab. I mean, seriously. I also don't care for a lot of the…
