Yes, recalculate whenever age, activity level, or weight changes (by 5 lbs) Typically if my fats are too low, then my carbs are too high, then I don't hit my protein. So you may want to make sure you are getting in some good fats as well. Fats give the similar satiety factor as carbs. So if you can find proteins that also…

The metabolism reset starts from the time you hit maintenance. Feel free to keep up your activity during that time, lifting is still recommended if you lift. No crazy cardio is recommended, though, as it kinda "fudges" the #s, lol. But feel free to lift if you want. Remember you figured out your TDEE based on a…

uhhhh....seriously? 5-7, lol :noway: Kiki

so you were at a plateau before EM2WL? do you remember how many cals you were eating? I do know how you feel...if you watch my metabolism reset, vid, I say about 8 times, how tired I was of dieting  I really mean that...I was exhausted...

Hi! I have trained several people who have lost 50-100lbs using this method. It is possible, and absolutely recommended. Clients with more to lose benefit from EM2WL tremendously, because their journey is much longer, and this lifestyle is maintainable in the long term. Because TDEE naturally decreases w/weight…

Never, ever, ever, ever, ever, EVER measure the day after you hit the weights hard, lol. The same way the water will show on your scale, it will show on the tape. I hear you beating yourself up over the last 10 days, yet you said that you felt good for the last 5 weeks. Don't let these 10 days still your…

Mine only happens when I take pics. I take them once a month. on that day I step on the scale, leave the room to go hang myself  , but grab the camera instead, along w/ my standard "progress outfit", set the delay timer, and get to snapping :ohwell: . I walk my fat butt over to the PC, bring up the pics, and pull up…

I tend to agree w/you on that. That's why even now, at the high cal deficit that I already have, I take a diet break every 4 weeks, rather every 8-10 as usually suggested. I've found that my body will adapt right around that time, if I don't. So...maybe we're both special snowflakes

If it fits your macros, lol go for it  Funny story about tacos.... the other day I looked at my diary at the end of the day and EVERY MEAL was some type of taco, lol.. I had egg burrito for breakfast, taquitos for lunch, and fajitas at dinner....munched on tortilla chips and guac and sour cream for snacks :noway:…

Something to keep in mind. (and this isn't really debating whether the amount is right or not, but just an FYI...because FWIW I think calculating using bf% is a great idea IF it's accurate - aka done by a pro  ) WhenEVER cals are reduced, there will be an initial drop. Regardless of it's the right amount of cals…

Welcome to the group! You're right. TDEE does account for working out, and if everything is calculated correctly, then you *won't* net below BMR, thus you won't eat back any exercise cals. But that's why you are keeping an eye on it at first. Because if you are eating 2200, yet burning 900, then you will know that your…

Welcome to the group! :flowerforyou: The beginning of your journey is the toughest part for all of us, but when you come out on the other side victorious, and in charge of your life, again, it will all be worth it. hmmm....as for veggies (and not that you HAVE to eat them, if you don't like them, lol, but..) have you…

Well, it depends on if you're doing the diet break or the metabolism reset. They are similar, but not exactly the same. The metabolism reset you eat at maintenance for a longer period of time (think: months), like you said, because you are trying to undo the damage that was done during low cal eating. After the metabolism…

Hey girl. The slower it takes you to up the cals, typically the longer before things stabilize and you see results. I also did a metabolism reset, which you shouldn't expect to see weight loss until the reset is over. My reset was a few months. Are you at TDEE yet? Also, are you still training for the marathon?? Are you…

If you're not going to be working out, then eat for whatever you *actual* activity level is.

I posted this in my newsfeed just the other day (not that it applies to hubbies, but just the situation in general) when someone posted about everyone around her doing fad diets, and getting "ready for the summer" while she was taking the slower EM2WL route: "I remember each year, people looking at me like I was crazy for…

Those findings are also very similar to what was discovered during the Minnesota Experiment. It was a study where the men ate under BMR for an extended period of time, went into starvation mode, and then were documented throughout their refeed process as they rebuilt their metabolism. They had to OVER eat for an extended…

If you've been VLC for longer than you care to remember, then I'd absolutely recommend doing a reset first. I'm not sure if you have access to watch the vids, but the one on resetting can be helpful. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=COzMKkXeiFo That is the route that I chose, long as it may have been, and I've never…

It's typically recommended per lb of bodyweight. But if you shoot for that and land somewhere in between the two, you'll be fine. Check your MFP macro pie chart daily and just make sure that you're keeping it well balanced. Keep fats moderate, and it's ok for carbs to be slightly higher than protein, but just watch for an…

Well, w/ TDEE exercise cals are already figured in, so you don't need to eat them back. People have found different ways of dealing with it. Some people log exercise minutes, but only put in 1 cal for the burn, so that they don't have to "see" the cals and be tempted to eat them, lol Others just log, but don't eat them…

New vid posted! Losing weight too slowly: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jwvJDMi7KTk It's a Kiki vid, so have some popcorn or cup o joe, cuz ya KNOW it's gonna be a ramble....
-
Be sure to check out the vid on the metabolism reset. It's def a personal thing, you kinda just "know." If you've been low cal for longer than you can remember. Or if you up your cals and see no response after 6 wks or so, then your body has probably decided for you that it needed to take one, lol.…
-
^^^^^Yes, I agree. Especially if you are new, I'd just keep the cals consistent for now. Your body just needs to trust that you will feed it consistently. Save any tweaks for the finish line, once your body has adjusted to your new cal goal, and you are within EXTREMELY close proximity to goal (like already at goal…

ROFL. This is SO true! If I ever even get the inkling to drop the cals again, my body is like  "where is my food?!" I forgot to answer the OP, I did a metabolism reset, so it was a good 3-4 months for me :ohwell:
-
Also, remember that messing around with the cals, causes scale fluctuation as well. I agree w/bumping those cals back up. Your body seems to have adapted to the higher cals rather quickly, and might put up a bit of rebellion at the insinuation of you dropping those cals again.
-
We actually recommend that you figure your activity in, rather than selecting sedentary, because eating a consistent amount of cals is pretty crucial in the beginning. And since the calculator figures in all of your activity for the week, the cals are already spread out for you, so you don't need to adjust up or down…
-
Some people see results right away, some take 2-3 months. There are many factors that come into play, like how long you ate low cal before, and everyone's metabolism goes at it's own rate. It took me probably 3-4 months or so :noway: , but I did a metabolism reset, and my case is one of the longest ones that I've ever…
-
Just eat the same amount daily. TDEE spreads exercise cals out over the entire week, so no need to take the cals up or down depending on activity. Consistency is the most important thing when you first start.
-
Glad to hear you're sleeping better and feeling stronger now. How has tackling the sodium been going for you? I recall that being the main issue in your inches gained, right? ;) I'm confident that when that is consistently under control, the inches issue will be resolved. Or at least you'll have a better…

When I go on vacation, we always hit up a grocery store and stock up on some healthy snacks for the room, and to have on hand (in purse or whatever). So when we're in the room, car, etc, we have some good healthy options. But other than that, I pretty much eat what I want when we go out to eat, etc. People always…
