For the OP -- is it possible for you to bring something to snack on during your shift? A small bag of nuts (be careful if a customer has an allergy), cut up apple, etc. Nothing that requires leaving the floor for more than a minute but will provide you with some energy. I also second the previous posters -- it's a much…

With no disrespect, these rules unfortunately rarely apply in the restaurant industry. I work on the other side of the line as a cook and 12-13 hour shifts with no break are uncommon. If a new employee demanding breaks, they would most likely be laughed at -- whether it's right, legal, or not, the whole momentum and pace…

Haven't run in about a week b/c of an ankle injury, a cold, and several snowstorms. Ran tonight -- only 15 minutes. Had been up to a solid 30 (W9D1). Disappointing but all I can do is keep working & rebuilding my progress.

I second the roasted cauliflower. I cook mine in a hot oven, 400-450, then toss with lemon zest and chopped, toasted almonds when it comes out. Seriously, this is one of my favorite foods.

Something. Not sure what. Super annoying because I can't even figure out a good alternative. So I'm eating chocolate : )

Don't have an exact recipe, but try looking for something where milk is the base and it's thickened with roux (oil/butter cooked with flour). I'd imagine typical recipes use heavy cream and lots of cheese and no thickener. A roux thickened milk sauce is essential a bechamel, so you could look for a simple bechamel…

It's snowing again, I'm sick again, and all I wanted was a bowl of comfort food. So tonight I made spaghetti bolognese. It was exactly what I wanted. Dinner with a friend -- she's vegan, I'm (obviously) not. We made polenta with miso and red wine mushrooms, roasted cauliflower with lemon zest and almonds, and a big tray of…

If you're having chest pain, especially if it's radiating up your neck/into your jaw, you need to go to the doctor or emergency room IMMEDIATELY. With that said, Hydroxycut isn't the route to health *or* weightloss.

An interview with a previous contestant. Just one account, but I believe it speaks to the nature of the show and why Rachel's huge loss may be problematic -- not just because of her physical health from being underweight, but also the psychological impact of the process that brought her to her 105#…

W9D1 : ) : ) : ) Done! I'm overjoyed that I ran for 30 minutes today. Never, ever did I think I could do that.
-
Potato chips. Spaghetti with butter and parmesan and pepper. A gigantic bowl of chex. A baked potato with lots of sour cream and cheese. I'm extra hungry today.
-
Woohoo!! Congratulations!

Finished W8D2. Finally "warm" here so I got to run outside for the first time in a few weeks -- amazing! Such a difference. It was a great run. Four runs until I graduate and 29 days until my first 5K : )

W8D1 done today. My last few runs have felt disorganized because of very cold weather and bad set-ups -- this time went with my sister (who I'm doing the program with) to her Y with a great, big, open, indoor running track. Worked out hard last night and my legs were sorrrrre so it was a tough run, but I did it. Looking…

Tonight I had a big bowl of spaghetti with zucchini, chicken, garlic, and parmesan. Tons of pepper. So so good.

Um. I know I'm new here, but not new to forums in general. This thread convinced me to stick around <3 Reminds me of the years I spent on a different forum site in a posse. I'm home...!!!

Tonight I marinated some chicken in lime juice, paprika, chili flakes, garlic, and red onion, the sauteed it with diced up zucchini and hot sauce. Ate it with brown rice. Yummy. Had two clementines, too : )

This is a GREAT thread. I cook almost all of my own food and so have been logging each ingredient -- that works for me. I also have a food scale & have worked in the restaurant industry since I was 16 so weighing and taring and weighing and taring and being very exact is second nature. However, the tip about taring out the…

!!! You look great! Fantastic job : )

My biggest "goal" over the past months has been completing my first ever 5K. I'm doing the C25K program with my sister and we check in constantly, reminding each other about the race, processing how our runs went, checking if the other person ran when they were supposed to. We call each other after almost every run. Having…

Tonight I roasted some carrots, then made a big salad with almost equal parts high quality tuna and super thinly sliced red onion, a whole lot of chopped parsley, arugula, lots of lemon juice, red wine vinegar, and a splash of olive oil. Very tasty : ) Then had four squares of 90% chocolate for dessert.

I love this. What a good idea : ) I'm going to work on crafting a letter to future, healthier me -- I have a feeling it'll be a great motivator.
-
After I read this, I went out and ran two miles. My heart cooperated, I went farther than I have before, and I felt motivated and strong. Thank you : )
-
You WILL!!! : ) Bookmark this so you can look back on it if you get discouraged, lazy, tired, etc. Good running!!

A successful run for the first time after a long night in the ER for chest pain : )
-
Woohoo!! Congrats! I've mostly run outside and always feel like I fly compared to the few times I've been inside. I'm on W7D2 and am finding a minute of walking halfway thru the run lets me push through and finish strong. Ideally I'd like to go straight through with zero walking but for now, I'd rather be able to go the…

Tonight made herbed baked chicken with roasted carrots and red wine sauteed mushrooms : ) Very tasty and what I needed after a weird two days of eating.
-
Congrats!!! My first 5k is happening the first weekend of March : ) I hope you run like the wind and cross the 3.1 finish line feeling amazing!
-
I'm returning to college after working for a few years : ) Going to send you a request!

Hey : ) I'm 22, also turning 23 in February, also weighing about 174#! I've been reading the forums a ton and am just now starting to participate. I'd love some friends for support and encouragement!
