  • I add sunflower seeds (seedless ones) to mine... protein and difference
  • I never use food as a reward, per se. I eat whatever I want within moderation, so allowing myself a candybar doesn't help because I don't deny them to myself.... what I do reward myself with at milestones is maybe a nice dinner out (Indian food this past weekend) or a new piece of clothing that is meant to honor my healthy…
  • my husband is 6' 1" and only 160ish... everyone's body is different
  • there is a national database of exercises... once you find them you can enter them into MFP... usually I just find the closest thing... like for instance I do aerobic weight lifting... there isn't an entry for it... so I enter aerobis light for half the time and weight training for the other half... I may have burned as…
  • since I cut corn syrup out of my diet, it is really easy to resist ordering (and eating) many things
  • where do you live?
  • alive by nature's way is a great supplement... but also eat things like almonds and sunflower seeds (pumpkin seeds etc)... they are a bit high in the calories, but have the really good fat that help you lose weight, and they have protein... I have been a vegetarian for 12 years and they do good for me... and 1200 calories…
  • flavored rice cakes are great and any nuts (I do almonds, sunflower seeds, and right now pumpkin seeds... yum yum).

  • my husband is the same with food... can eat anything - I gave up corn syrup and the junk I buy him is the crap with corn syrup so I am not even tempted... It really works for me and I feel a million percent better
  • WAY TO GO!!! I know how you feel - my wedding and engagement rings are getting to the point where they are going to fall off soon as well... thankful we got the service plan with sizing for life... I just hate being without them... but soon, very soon have to leave them for two weeks... just waiting until a particular ring…
  • I never deny my cravings, I just try to determine if they are from a physical or emotional place. the biggest mistake most people make in the weightloss journey is to deny deny deny... and then the fall of the wagon and eat what they have denied themselves. I decided in this journey to eat whatever I want, just in…
  • I think you are more than lightly active.... but you could just do lightly active then enter all the things you do... that is what I do.
  • I know how it feels, just recently sorted all my clothes... tried everything on, and put two boxes of garage sale items together of clothes too big to wear... and clothes that never fit right even when brand new now are too big... it is exciting... I am looking forward to getting into my amazing skirts and even my…
  • i cut corn syrup from my diet completely in January and I feel great.... but surprised at how many things have corn syrup in it... way toooooo many
  • I am always suspicious of these things that promise big loss fast... it isn't necessarily healthy nor is it sustainable... be safe when you do fasts and the like
  • I am not vegan, but do have several recipes that can be easily made vegan... I gave up corn syrup in January and it was the best thing I ever did... and often it means I eat gluten-free too... but not always... many of my recipes are gluten-free though.... It is tough making choices that the rest of the world just doesn't…
  • I am not sure any food surprised me, as I have always read labels due to allergies... what has shocked me as I lose weight, I can only eat so much without getting stuffed... used to be I could eat 10 times that amount and still be able to eat... buffets hated me, now they aren't worth it anymore.... but finding the balance…
  • Both and clothes... I weigh weekly... measure monthly... and try clothes on that didn't fit periodically... though the last is the toughest because, well if something I love still doesn't fit I get sad... all and all it is about balance i have found....
  • you need 8 glasses of hydration a day, but it doesn't all have to come from water... it is in food (especially veggies) and other drinks... now you got me wanting a nice cup of herbal healing tea... mmmm
  • In the weight loss journey there is a psychological effect... big time effect. Support is essential. And while your significant other can be a good source of that.. sometimes you need others... I have a group of friends... we help each other... and it is good for our psyches... I am 1/3 of the way to my goal, and boy to I…
  • well said. thank you so much for sharing
  • it is about balance... I eat what I want, but watch my totals. I feel great. I don't feel like I am sacrificing or denying myself... and I have lost 45 pounds since Feb 14, 2011.. so it is all about balance...
  • some cheese or veggies are good... but if you aren't hungry, you don't have to eat... and I try to stay under on the fat, carbs, protein, but I focus on calories first. I try never to go over carbs... fat, it depends on the fat... if I ate avacados, no worries... protein, I struggle to get enough as it is as a vegetarian,…
  • I second that notion... most places like that encourage starvation diets and longitudenly unhealthy paths. I am not familiar with this one in particular, but very few encourage the healthy way of honoring your body with limits...
  • great job... keep it up... I had a similar wake up call when I ended up in the ER on valentine's day... 35 days later, thanks to MFP and my determination I am a fourth of my way to my goal of losing 137 pounds...
  • your body goes through stages and sometimes you gain a few... or you may have gained muscle which has more mass than fat. Also, your old scale may have not been working right... or the new one isn't... Just keep moving forward and keep up the work!!!
  • not to mention, the stomach is the last thing to go, so as we lose weight elsewhere, our stomachs look bigger and bigger...
  • indeed you are worth the effort
