 Generally speaking, flee from any diet that has a proper name.

WOOOO!!! That's AWESOME! I started running at 290 lbs and just ran my first half marathon in March at 220 lbs. It gets addicting! Keep up the good work!

GET GOOD SHOES! Go to a specialized running store and have them do a gait analysis and fit you for the right shoe for you. You won't be sorry!

You can't spot reduce - you can do all the crunches you want, but it's not going to go away by just doing ab workouts. I think you're making a wise decision to log your food because nutrition is key when it comes to stubborn body fat in any area. A lot of where you store fat just depends on your body type, but in general,…

^That's probably your best option...

No different than anything else, i.e. sweets, pizza, or any other "bad" food. All things in moderation. :drinker:

We got engaged on our 1 year anniversary, engaged for about 3.5 months, married for 5.5 years and counting. Unless you have a very specific reason (planning a crazy elaborate wedding, school, budget, etc...), I don't really see the point in long engagements, but that's just me.

Is there creatine in your protein powder? Creatine causes a minimal amount of water retention so if you noticed the weight gain when you started on the powder, it's possible that it's just water retention.

Food. Obviously stuff that wouldn't spoil...so I'd stock up on lean beef, fish, chicken, etc...meats that you could freeze that keep for a long time. I would NOT buy boxed/canned food because most of that is crap anyway. And obviously you wouldn't want to stock up on produce because it doesn't last long, but I'd liberally…

I third the JM 30 Day Shred. It's quick, effective, and less than $10 at Wal-Mart. I don't know that it's super kid friendly, but they could attempt to play around and do some of the same moves as you. But if they're young enough that they nap - you could easily get it in while they're napping.

Based on your picture, I'm guessing you're a runner - thus the Garmin! MOST runners I know use Garmin - at least where I live. I have a Garmin FR60!! It's basic, but it does just what I need it to.

This! hehe...

And I agree with this - if you're still consistently losing, even if it's not as much each week, that's not a plateau.
-
I think plateaus can be at any point other than just your set point, but I think if you're at your said set point, then you can definitely hit a plateau there. Take me, for instance - I consider myself to be in a plateau at the moment, but I'm also at the weight I was at in high school for so long. I'm currently at 8…

I say embrace the muscle and start training for a triathlon! Muscles are bad-*kitten*...why would you want to be skinny fat? Because if you TRY to lose muscle, that's what's going to happen. You'll be skinny with excess fat and no muscle tone and you'll basically have to start building muscle all over again. You can't…

Definitely going to have to try this!

1. Never trust the calculation on the machines. They're typically pre-programmed for a 150# man. If you're not a man, and you're not 150#, it's going to be way off. 2. The higher your heart rate is, the more calories you burn, but you don't want to get it too high. 3. Chest strap.

I was trying to re-size the picture so you could see everything on the right side, but it isn't cooperating... BP went from 140/91 to 127/88 Weight went from 281.6 to 225.4 HR went from 91 to 82 BF% went from 49.9% to 42.8% (I WAS HALF FAT!) BMI went from 49.88 to 39.92

You = AWESOME!

This is exactly what my new trainer has me doing, so maybe I should just give it some more time.

That's what worked for you? Or that's what you're suggesting? I was previously (before I started doing heavy lifting and cardio intervals) running 3x per week, doing races monthly, and even did a half marathon in March...as well as a couple months of training for it...so I'm not a total newb to running. However, it seems…
-
This is what I figured. I disagree that cardio alone (literally running your *kitten* off) is the way to go, especially since at some point cardio causes you to burn muscle, which is counterproductive to fat loss, and from everything I've read online it just seems to go away as you lose total body fat percentage - through…

Some studies show that light beer is actually worse...if often has a lower alcohol content, so to get the same affect you have to drink more of it, thus the lower calories are negated by drinking more bottles. Now if that's just your preference - go for it! But I think the people who drink light beer because they think…

Welcome to corporate America! While I believe black is better than sparkles and neon green and hot pink - I'd go with a very conservative color or french tip (if you get your nails done). And like someone else said, you can always reapply afterward. It's just nail polish...
-
Have more than your allotted beers for the day already? Just kidding! :drinker:

You and my husband would get along well! You should look him up on here... nrdoty

Pretty sure he specifically pointed out that he was NOT suggesting that...
