  • I'm in! First week after taking a long hiatus from this challenge. Glad to be back! :drinker:
  • Back when I first started MFP some time last year I did this challenge for quite some time and LOVED it, then just had too much on my plate and couldn't keep up with all the different threads and quit participating in most of the challenges I had been doing. I've decided I want to get back in to a few of the challenges,…
  • The freezer (that's not a bucket of ice cream, it's vegetable trimmings waiting to be made in to vegetable stock): The fridge: The "deli" drawer - that's grilled corn on the cob on the right, not some rotten who knows what: One of the veggie drawers (the other is empty): My farmers' market spoils that need to go in the…
  • It's NOT peanut butter....that's why it's disgusting. I've had other stuff by Walden Farms, too - they're zero calorie salad dressings - nasty!
  • I have a hat that I always wear when I'm running - help keeps the rain off my glasses, the hair out of my face, and the sun from burning my scalp (I'm very fair skinned and burn in a very short amount of time).
  • Obviously you don't actually need the surgery...save your money and just finish this on your own.
  • The olympic bar weighs 45# with no weight on it - 2 5# weights would only be 10# total, so I can see why she would want to use just the bar. The only other way to get close to that same amount of weight would be using 2 20# free weights, and I know I can't do 20# in each hand alone...sometimes the little "girly" weights…
  • You should seek out EdDavenport. He's on my friends' list and has been such an inspiration to me. He's lost a couple hundred pounds and is such a positive influence. You're not alone - there are people here wanting to lose that much and people here who have and can help you. Best of luck to you!
  • <~~~that dog my rose bushes when they're in full bloom coffee with hot chocolate mix and mint
  • I've heard to do weight training first so that you're not so tired that you can't use good form (and thus be ineffective or hurt yourself), but a personal trainer that I went to said it really didn't matter regarding weight loss and toning. If you can't keep good form when you're tired, then do weight training first. And…
  • 1. Paint my toe-nails without gasping for air. 2. Wrap my towel all the way around my body. (and it's not a beach towel...) 3. Sit comfortably in the chairs in our conference room at work. 4. See my ankles, collar bones, and triceps. 5. Run a half marathon.
  • I can see a major difference in your legs - look at your ankles/shins between the second picture and the third - you look very swollen in the second pictures, but I see ankles in the third!! Whatever you do, don't get discouraged. You see yourself every day so it's going to be harder for you to see a significant…
  • I started "running" at 290# - but honestly, long slow cardio isn't the best for weight/fat loss. After a certain point you start burning muscle (this is partly why distance runners typically maintain or even gain weight during their training). Muscle is what burns fat, and if you're burning muscle by doing too much cardio,…
  • I have a Trek road bike and I LOVE it! Try going to a local bike shop and have them fit you for a bike. You don't want to buy just anything and some bike shops will let you put it on a trainer and test it out before you buy.
  • What the hell is low fat coffee??? Are you meaning the cream and such that people pollute coffee with?
  • I agree with the above. Whatever you can't do, just modify. Don't wait to start until you get to a certain weight.
  • Wow! Amazing transformation! I hope I look that good when I get the rest of my weight off! Honestly, at first glance of your 235# pic, you and I look A LOT alike, I thought! I'm coming from 290# and have lost about 70# thus far, so I'm gettin' there!
  • If your diet has an actual name, chances are it's a waste of time and money. Also, the way they lose weight on Biggest Loser is not healthy AT ALL. They are essentially starving their bodies by eating only around 800 calories/day and working out 6+ hours/day...that's why they're heavily supervised by medical personnel. I…
  • :flowerforyou: I  you! I'm so proud of what you've accomplished. The tornado was devastating, but we're rebuilding. Likewise, things in life can be devastating - the loss of loved ones, job struggles, financial struggles, etc... - but just as we're rebuilding, it's important that you don't let the storms of life get…
  • Agreed. Starvation mode doesn't happen that quick.
  • Love that! Sounds like you're wanting results too fast, too. You've only been at it 2 weeks. Back off the cardio, do more resistance training, and give it some time.
  • If you know all the ingredients, build the recipe in to your personal database, especially if it's a meal you have frequently.
  • Having ran my first half in March, I LOVED this list! As far as snakes go, you're right, they ARE out to get you. There were a few times on the trail last fall that I did some snake induced speed work!!
  • I LOVE TRX!!! We use it as part of our circuit training in our Rufus Racing Xtreme Bootcamp class. I have a heart rate monitor, so that's how I get my calories, but maybe just log it as circuit training? You'll get a good mix of resistance and cardio (depending on the exercises you're doing, so I think circuit training…

  • I  real food! The only thing I haven't totally let go of yet is creamer for my coffee...but I'm workin' on it!
  • Total myth about gaining weight because you eat too late. The ONLY shred of truth that has to it is that when you eat, you fuel your metabolism, and if you eat too close to bed, your metabolism is up and going, and you MAY not sleep as well. Not getting enough quality sleep can be a contributor to weight gain because it…
  • We use it to make pancakes: 1 cup oats, 1 scoop powder, some cinnamon, and enough water to get it to pancake batter consistency - blend it all up and then cook it just like pancakes. And since we buy pea protein (which doesn't go all that well in fruit smoothies anyway), I've been experimenting with adding it to soups and…
  • Is it your sweat, or your workout clothes? The water wicking fabrics are notorious for smelling like @$$ after a while, especially if you don't wash them properly, and if you put them in the dryer it can make it worse. Then when you DO sweat when wearing them, it's just awful!
  • My thoughts, exactly!
