It's not necessarily going to make you lose weight, but it will help flush out excess sodium (which causes water retention thus a "gain" on the scale), hydrate your body (skin, hair, lips, eyes, etc...), keeps you regular, and lots of other good things. Your body is 70% water, so obviously you need to take in water for it…

I can see a major improvement in your hips/thighs, and your face looks slimmer, too. Great job!!

I think this is somewhat like religion - there's kind of an age of accountability. Kids that are young and don't realize they're unhealthy or doing things to their body that they shouldn't be aren't aware of the consequences of their actions - it's at this point that the parents are responsible for the child. But at the…

Oooo! That's good!

Just a thought, and I'm not even Catholic, but I've seriously considered giving up bread. Not because of the carbs, but because I'm trying to watch my sodium and bread has quite a bit in it. And if I can get out of the habit of eating bread and just use healthier alternatives, why even go back to it?

Just because Asics work for you, doesn't mean they'll work for her... No, you don't HAVE to buy the shoes there, but a lot of times the prices really aren't that bad. And if you can build some rapport with the people who work there, you can learn a lot and make some great friendships. I'm at my local running store almost…

Why the hell is she buying her cat hormone free chicken?? I'd LOVE to have that kind of money - and the kind of time it takes to randomly rant about a protein shake... You just keep doin' your thing! And in the future block her from seeing any of your protein shake pictures. :smokin:

Anyone can run....but GET GOOD SHOES!!!!! Go to a local running specialty store and have them do a gait analysis and fit you for the right shoe for you. You're body will thank you!

That moment when your towel goes all the way around your body. :smokin:

I hear you! I've lost quite a bit but I've been stuck around 220 since the end of October and it's GRUELING! ONEderland is just sitting there waiting for me!! But no worries - I'm gonna get there - and so are you! Keep up the good work!!

I've lost 72lbs not eating them back (would eat some of them if I was hungry, but not otherwise) as directed by my personal trainer. However, I've been on a plateau since the end of October, so I'm experimenting with eating them back more consistently, or at least some of them, and raising my calorie goal in general - i.e.…

"Being an athlete is a state of mind which is not bound by age, performance or place in the running pack." -Jeff Galloway Congrats on your accomplishment!! :drinker:

Just ask them what they put in it. That's what I did at Orange Julius last night when I wanted to get a smoothie but didn't want a ton of calories/sugar with it. If they add artificial sweetener to it, ask them not to if it's something that's not already mixed in.

Thanks for posting and reaffirming what I'm currently going through. I've lost 72 lbs, but have been stuck at 72 lbs for about 3 months and it's driving me NUTS! I recently took a few days to eat maintenance calories (boy, that was harder than I expected) then set my goals to 1lbs/week and have been faithful to eating my…

 I sure hope not! Point taken, though. And thank you for posting this. I love how blunt and honest most of your posts are, including your profile where you mention that this is not facebook and you're not here to make friends, but you're here in an effort to get healthy and improve your overall performance. Thanks…

Depending on how much you're looking/able to spend, Nick and I are looking at selling our weight bench/weights AND one of our bike trainers (you could set up your regular bike on it and it would function similar to a spin bike). We just don't have room for either one and we're doing so much stuff with Rufus Racing that we…

That's never an accident! When was the last time you changed your sheets?

Spreadsheets. I can entertain myself in Excel for HOURS!

This! Great job on your progress. Keep it up!

A gym membership can be very valuable if it's in the budget, but only you can decide what the budget allows.

What about running? The only "equipment" that you really need is good running shoes. If your kids are old enough they could go with you, or you could get a jogging stroller and take them with you. I agree that DVD's can get super boring and I totally understand the lack of space issue! I just think $65/month for limited…
-
Based on those prices and lack of benefits, I don't think it's worth it. If you're dedicated enough, I'd say invest in some DVD's and/or equipment that you can use at home. It will save you time and money in the long run!

I very rarely eat at Subway because of this. I can easily down a foot-long, though, but I'd rather make it myself with fresher ingredients to avoid all that sodium.

 LOVE this! I personally don't eat hardly anything before because if there's anything in my stomach it makes me feel like I'm going to vomit. I eat well the night before and make sure I'm hydrated, and I really haven't had any problems yet. I'm doing 9.5 tomorrow, so I'm hoping my method still works for me!

Never anything with a wire, but if it's one of the t-shirt sports bras I often will go to bed with it one. It's just more comfy for me...don't know why.
-
Are you still consistently losing, though? Sounds to me like you just made yourself pee out any water you retaining, thus the sudden weight loss...
-
I've never been slim - even as a child I was overweight. :ohwell: I have no idea what it's like to be at my ideal weight, and quite frankly, I don't even know what my ideal weight really is...

40-30-30 is what I've been shooting for, too, but the leptin thing has my interest now...

[/quote] My reference in the thread to carbs is that IF it is an issue with Leptin, the best results to normalize leptin levels is a caloric surplus high carbohydrate diet for a few days. Lyle McDonald at bodyrecomposition has some great articles on leptin, and search engines will bring up a lot on the subject too.…

Interesting read! Thanks!!
