Many employers permit women to bring their babies to work to enable breast feeding.

^^^This!!^^^ Some of the lists and suggestions here won't fly if someone's broke. Avocadoes? Really. They're $1.79 apiece where I live. Pomegranates? Come on. Marked-down bananas are a favorite of mine. Potatoes are often on sale for a dollar or two for a 5-pound bag. Cabbage and carrots are inexpensive. A small bag of dry…

I worked night shift as a nurse for years. I snacked a lot and gained weight. I went to Weight Watchers. The leader there told me her daughter was a night nurse in another hospital and just didn't eat while at work. She ate breakfast at the normal time when she got home in the morning, a light snack on waking in the…

I weigh every day, and then average the week's weights once a week. This shows the overall trend and factors in the daily fluctuations.
-
I think this is the flaw in the "weigh once a week" practice. It's supposed to be a more accurate measure of progress than daily weighing, which may vary by one or more pounds in either direction each day. But.... suppose your once-a-week weigh day catches you in an "up" fluctuation? That's not the accurate measure it's…

OK, I like this challenge! This is a great idea. I'm always looking for some kind of new motivation, and this will be my current one! Thanks, Cindy!

Awesome! Praise the Lord! You go!

Rule #1: Consider your own safety first, whether a fellow gym participant, spotter, EMT, first responder, Good Samaritan, or well-meaning innocent bystander. ALWAYS consider your own safety first.

Why do we have to have a food plan with a name? Why follow a diet someone who doesn't know us made up? Here's what one of my friends posted this morning: " My new co-worker lost 60 pounds a few years ago and is now fit and a body builder. I asked her if she had any of the cake some one else left on the back table at work.…

"Do or do not. There is no try." --Yoda You can do it. Trust me! You will do the full marathon next year. In fact, I'd bet that you do one before next year!!

I saw this on the CNN morning news a week or so ago. I was especially interested since my 10-yr-old granddaughter has Down Syndrome. Having a "disability" is kind of like being older: you're only held back by what you think you can't do.

Your incredible progress is SO exciting! And your positive attitude is contagious!

For me, contacts worn with swim goggles and sunglasses. Definitely. They don't shift around, steam up, get raindrops on them, or any of the other things glasses do. Wearing contacts for sports will change the way you look at your sports. I used to be a full-time contacts wearer, but with aging had to keep putting reading…

Put them on, wash under the faucet with deodorant soap, just like washing your hands but with gloves on. Use lots of the soap. Rinse, remove, turn them inside out and repeat. Air-dry.

I used to work night shift. I gained 10 pounds. What helped me out of the mindless noshing might sound radical, but I just stopped eating while at work. It's really not that radical: normally we do not eat during the night anyway. I had a meal after work, went to bed, a snack when I got up in the afternoon, made dinner as…

My electrolyte drink: 1 pkg unsweetened Kool-Aid, any flavor (I like the lemonade); you can use cheaper knock-off brands, too 1-1/4 c. sugar 2 tsp table salt 1/4 tsp Lite Salt This will make a gallon. However, I live in a small camper and don't have space for a big container. I use all of the above and 1/2 gallon of water,…

Are you getting a good high-calorie, high-carb, moderate protein, low-fat meal a couple hours before you start your race? That can make a big difference later. Those pretzel-peanut-butter things Trijoe mentioned work for me on the bike. I use Combo's. You can get cheese ones as well. I put them in a sandwich baggie, not…

A little Vaseline on your eyelids and lips for a bit of shine, and on your lashes to darken them. Bangs emphasize your eyes. Rub your cheeks a little every now and then for a little pink (like Scarlett O'Hara.)

I was hoping it meant something like 2 dairy, 4 protein, 6 fruit/vegetable, 8 water....

The link works! I loved that. Made a big difference to my day!

I don't shower till I've stopped the heavy sweating. No point taking a shower if I'm just going to sweat all over myself again. As I hang around in my sweaty clothes, their dampness helps cool me. Today I was even starting to feel chilly before my shower.

Oops, Frugal, I didn't read the rest of your post carefully. Wow, what a great cake idea! thank you! I don't have freezer space but I'm soon going to have zucchini, so I'm definitely going to make the cake this way. Very cool!
-
You might like zucchini more if you eat it when it's small -- 6 inches or so. They get tough and bitter when they grow large. Same with yellow squash -- 4 or 5 inches. Patty pan (those white ones that look like UFO's), 3 inches at most.

Yeah, I realized that as I was writing. How can I cut back and make money/calories go farther if don't know where I'm starting from, or worse, spend/eat but pretend I didn't? Can get away with that in the eating department (just gain weight!) but with money, when it's gone, it's gone.

I have had the same problem but seem to be able to reign it in lately. I think.....I think I just decided to stop. No visiting angel, no opening skies.... just somehow have seen the light: this is not the way to lose weight. One thing that has helped (I've gone through this sort of in cycles throughout my adult life) is to…
