I was on Prozac 100 mg and kept gaining weight no matter what I ate..stopped it and lost..on Welbutrin but had to start taking celexa as depression is getting bad so yes the effect it. but dont just stop taking your meds talk with your doctor.

Yes most can make you gain weight except a few Wellbutrin is one of them. Actually the FDA is looking at a weight loss drug that uses that plus topamax to help people loose weight. But you have to look at the whole picture..how severe is the depression. I gained over 100 lbs on prozac but my depression has gotten so bad…

How much you weigh doesnt affect this..cause I am under weight and I have a fatty liver. I prob have more fat from being in starvation mode most of my life. So sorrry I dont have an answer for you but just by loosing weight wont help. On the plus side you do need some fat to protect your organs from injuries.

yes I have know people who starve themselves and are overweight b/c their metaolism shuts down. Also binge eating, bulilmia. I have anorexia now but stuggled with bulimia of and on for what ever reason my metbolism kicked in and now i am anorexic..usued to weigh over 200 lbs so the answer is yes!

Well I have just about died ended up with a colostomy, have no large intestine, am in renal failure and still have trouble..yes I have anorexia but sounds like your friend is on her way. Unfortunatley at different times in my life I would do ANYTHING to lose weight...for what I dont really know..hasnt gotten me anywhere…

If you feel good than that is all that counts. You actually are where you should be. They say to add 5 pounds for every inch over 5 ft so 5ft 1 in = 105. 5 ft 2 +110lbs and so forth so you are right on tract:wink:

Dont get discouraged the weight didnt come on that fast so it will take some time. Make sure you are getting enough calories in but try making healthier choices..foods lower in fats ect dont give up 7 lbs is nothing to sneeze at!

Well it all depends I have been on prednisone for the last 20 some years usually only 5 or 10mg per day(depends how I feel) Occasionally gets up there to 80 mg, but I have to take lasix( a water pill with it..besides I have renal failure) So if you have to be on it for a long time talk with your doctor about it. yes you must force yourself even if you are not hungry. The starvation thing is too. Yes it is..I was taking extra B vitamins for energy and it did the opposite.made me very tired. Have to be careful of fat soluble one too!

It also depends on how much you have to lose. And I dont care what anyone says..it is harder for (most) women to lose weight

not always true..I am thin and I dont love myself...that is part of my problem. But it is true we all need to love ourselves. We might not get to the weight we want to be, but if we are eating healthy and exercising than that is where your body wants to be. But by doing those things is loving yourself enough to take care…

dont know why this happens but it does. One of the side effects listed is weight gain too. I thought I would be smart and take extra meds..guess what..I GAINED WEIGHT!

yeah I am underweight and have love handle..go figure.So mine really show! The only fat I think I have on my body is there. Any other suggestions than the jumping thing. I have had 8 knee surgeries on one knee alone

Have you had your thyroid checked? Also could it be water weight..I gained 5 lbs in one day from eating to much chicken broth. Well if anything dont give up because I imagine that you are eating healthier and in the long run better for you. Get a scale and measure. Some underestimate but others over..good luck

This is so true but it is hard to get it in my head..to lose weight you eat less and to gain eat more. My body is the opposite and the sooner I accept this the better. I think this has so much to do with how we are brought up..most people dont know this or believe it..you could actually have someone who is eating 700 cals…

Yeah people dont realize that eating to few cals screws your body up. how about muscle tensing and releasing of you legs and butt..I do this when I drive..also I am not a nervous person but when people are not around I bounce my legs up and down (any little bit helps right?) Also just get up and down from your chair fequently just use your leg muscles to get up..just some weird little things…

Yeah I understand where you are coming from..kind of the opposite way though..I am not eating enough, but dont beat yourself up to bad because that isnt going to get you anywhere other than back to Dominos(I know this from experience) Tomorrow is a new day so start over by eating healthy today..good luck

You guys all kill me..thought this was for really. Well if you dont get any cals by standing while you eat..most of my cals wouldnt count lol I do however argue with my nephew over foods that have negative cals. Meaning it takes more cals to digest them then they have..asked my dietician and she told me not to worry about…

Unfortunately it seems like no matter what size you are there is always this problem..I cant find clothes to fit me at all. I do best with boys pants but I am a 40 year old woman...who wants to wear what 10 year old are wearing..then I am lucky if they are long enough so I wear all my pants low. so have to have shirts long…

Sorry to hear that you are going through this! Could you tell your mother that you have done some research about the starvation therory and it must be true b/c you are gaining. I would just love to talk with your mom..comments like that started my 20 plus year struggle with an eating disorder! I am trying to recover now…
