Shop for a wedding dress, and have the shop actually stock dresses I can fit into.

Boo no responses. :(

Had me at bookworm!

There's whole blogs dedicated to doctors who glance at a person, declare them 'fat' and walk away without any consideration for anything else. It's the only time reading comments from people on the internet has made me cry.

Gyms are for people who don't need gyms, in my experience. That said, in bad weather I utilize the gym, and I just mind my own business. Let people think I'm fat - I don't care! But the reason I don't care is that I have mean thoughts about other people too sometimes. "Who wears a leopard/zebra mesh top?!" Doesn't mean I…

Does she control other parts of your life, or does she just find kilts super not sexy? If she's turned off by you in a kilt, she's got the right to not have sex with you in said kilt. If she uses this line to control you in other ways, maybe start to worry. Otherwise just do what my man does - rock that kilt (or socks and…

I don't think I could bring myself to eat a tofu hotdog. That seems terrifying to me. Side note, though: We eat tacos once a week, and instead of eating the whole hard shell I break it in half, put my meat and stuff on top and eat it like a little pizza slice or something. Another trick!
-
I put a hot dog on a low-cal slice of bread. I think it's like 45 calories. For burgers I just skip the bun.
-
I can't believe that really happens. That seems so insane! It's like the epitome of rudeness!!!

WOW! What a super response - thank you! I guess I never thought that it was probably just easier for people who have an intolerance to say 'no gluten.' I guess since it is kind of a fad right now it makes us non-gluties more critical, particularly when it's a super inconvenience for everyone else. Like, "You were FINE when…

Thank you for the responses! I guess the reason I'm having such a hard time understanding is that there seem to be a great deal of people who land all along that lactose spectrum. Gluten, from what I've seen (and I know that's an exceptionally limited sample) doesn't seem to have that spectrum the same as so many other…

I do vegetarian stuffed bell peppers. Usually two for lunch. Just rice with rotelle and parmasan and hot sauce stuffed and baked into a pepper. With the two it's 300-something calories. I also do sauteed chicken sausage with onions and peppers. That one's a bit more at 500 calories-ish. Also I'll do black bean burgers…

^^^this. I promised myself I wouldn't get involved in the conversation, but I really just want to thank you for this comment. As a non-glutie it becomes really difficult to understand how, without a serious health issue, people can have this 'I cannot have a drop of gluten or else!!!' mentality. I guess because my…

I'm so sorry to hear it's getting so crazy! I just started, we haven't even picked a venue yet, but already I can feel my temper starting to creep in the wrong direction with one family member. I'm just trying to keep everything under control, but I don't really know how to put my foot down should things get out of…

I don't really plan my cheat meals. But It happens when I'm out to dinner. So much good stuff and I just cave. But (I posted about this yesterday) because I keep a net of 400-500 calories at the end of every day (eat around 1500 per day and a bit of walking or yoga for exercise), when I fall off the wagon a cheat day…

14 pounds the first month.

Have you gained/lost before? I've noticed, with me, that I will start loosing in certain areas right from the start. Face and chest for me. But after that initial loss, I start losing from other places instead. The real problem places - arms and tummy, begone! From what I've heard around here, a lot of people start loosing…

My TOM is always so depressing, because I'll be screaming at the scale about being too high before I realize that it's just ... well, that TOM. I don't exercise much to be honest, I just do walking, yoga, cleaning, weights, etc. just to keep myself in motion, staying busy, because I hate exercising at the gym in the…

I have a wedding to go to! But it's in 18 months, which is why I started trying to change my lifestyle LAST month. Because it's not too hard and it's doable, but it takes TIME.

Flavored vodka with seltzer. Great for the summer. I recommend raspberry or vanilla for starters, though I find that too sweet.

The one thing we started doing was buffalo chicken salad. Grilled chicken, buffalo sauce (warmed with a bit of margarine for thickness) on a salad with ranch. So yes, we use both dressings. But it ... helps keep the need for wings at bay.
-
I could eat all of your 1350 calories in wings alone too ... in addition to my 1500 calories!

Thanks everyone! It was just a nice little surprise to realize, like Pseudomuffin just said, this can be a normal life. One that doesn't involve guilt-sobbing over a weak day or keeling over from hunger.

Can I raise nerds? I want nerds.

I'm just not even ready to go dress shopping yet. Most shops likely won't carry my size anyway, and it would be so depressing to hop from shop to shop with my future mother in law in tow (she won't be left behind!) and not even be able to try anything on.
-
This gives me such hope, because this is what I'm doing. In the past, I always tied my diets to gym workouts, which I hated. Eventually I'd stop going, and just give up. This time I'm doing what I love - walking and yoga and cleaning for exercise, and my big focus is on what I eat. A month in and 14 pounds down!

Trying to lose 70 by January, but 100 in the long run would be quite welcome!
