1. Experiment and find a way of eating that is easy for you to stick to. High carb, low carb, keto, IIFYM, whatever. The diet doesn't really matter, your ability to stick to it does. 2. Don't overly restrict your calories. It will only end in failure. You're young, without knowing how tall or how much you weigh however,…

I'll second the barley wraps. Totally in love with them lately, I want to marry their little low cal, high figbre, low sodium arses. Oh, and word to the wise - Atkins Endulge caramel nut chew bars (fairly expensive at around $12 for 5, but only 140cal each and reasonable protein) totally taste like snickers.

Thank you for sharing. I agree with everything you've said, especially about weight regain - 95% of the people posting in this thread are doomed to regain the weight they've lost. Except for people who've had WLS, their losses stay off for longer (statistically speaking).…

Try two years with (probably) another year to go, then talk to me about slow weight loss. It sounds like you don't have much to lose, in which case losses are notoriously slower. I can only add to the excellent advice you've received so far by saying be consistent, patient and honest with yourself. No matter how you fudge…

I'm in north Qld, welcome to add me.

Haaaa! Reading nine pages of this ****e was worth it just for that quote.

Welcome and good luck with the next 1-3 years of weight loss and the rest of your life maintaining it. It's a wild ride, but you and your children are worth it. What I've learnt along the way: 1. Don't rely on willpower, rely instead on habits that you build up over weeks and months. They'll last you for the rest of your…

I'd totally be chain smoking. I loved smoking but the consequence are just too dire.

All I can say is, marry your best friend. I did, and he makes his own damn sammiches.

I remember you posting your squat video (which I lurked) and how impressed I was. Even more so now! You're truly inspirational, well done!

The thing about the sugar debate I don't get is why is sugar singled out for attention, when most of the food we love to abuse is high in both fat and sugar? Apart from lollies (candy), and sugary drinks, of course. Same for fat and salt combinations, which are equally as delicious and gimme-moreish. Why sugar alone?

Lose fat and you'll lose cellulite, because that's all it is. Fat. Even at a very low weight for my height, I still had it. Nothing I did got rid of it completely - I suspect genetics has a large part to play in how much and where we accumulate it. Either come to terms with it or beat yourself up for it. The choice is…

A lot of studies have shown health benefits after losing just 5-10% of total weight, which sounds like what your doctor wants you to achieve. Maybe use his diet until you achieve the 10%, then switch to using MFP with higher protein and lower carb macronutrient goals? Personally, I could just about stick to a short term…

Commitment or motivation are difficult to sustain long term. Habits, once ingrained, are much easier to sustain because they become automatic, something you do every day like brushing your teeth. Try to foster healthy habits - start small so it's not such a huge life change all at once. Make the habits you form enjoyable -…

What a fantastic success story! I remember the swine flu epidemic, looked after a few who didn't make it - you are indeed a lucky girl. Best of luck for the future and keep on getting better. :flowerforyou:

You're not in a plateau, you're maintaining. To start losing you need to change something. Look at your portion sizes (REALLY look at them), do you count liquid calories, look at any extras you sneak in, do you overestimate activities? 99.9999 times out of a hundred when people complain of a plateau, there is an imbalance…

I think "pharrrrgue this hurts, I want to stop, pharrrrque I hate this"' Then, when I stop "I FEEL GREAT, I LOVE RUNNING, YAY ME!!!".

Never had a strange one on here, but I was once asked in an MSN chatroom if I'd dress a guy in nappies  Ahhhh those were the days. I kinda miss the entire male population of India entering your chatroom and asking a/s/l?

I sent you a request on Garmin connect, always looking for more people on there! You're welcome to add me on here, too, but I'm in Australia so different foods/time zones etc. :)

Wow, that's a big improvement! Well done! Have you looked couch to 5K apps (C25K)? It really is a good way to ease yourself into it. Did 4.3K today, was cold and therefore relatively pleasant - after I'd warmed up. Tried to run intervals between telephone poles, knees got a little sore towards the end though. Next run will…

Fell over the handle bars of my stationary bike and ended up with a bruise on my right hip and boob. The dog thought it was nice I'd laid down so he could kiss my face.

Thought so. Excuse me while I comb my back hair, it gets awfully knotty over my Quasimodo hump.

So if you've never had a message like that does it mean you're one ugly mofo?

Here's mine (first time ever!). I went from a high of 141kg in 2011 to now at 100kg. Still got about 25kg to go, so a work in progress. ]

This is what I do when I go to the gym. Throw your head back, flick your hair and strut. Works every time.

I'm guessing the answer to your question is - we don't yet know. It's only recently that researchers have started to look at successful maintainers, hopefully there will be some answers in the future. In the meantime, I'll stick to my "lifestyle change" thankyouverymuch. It may not be backed by hard data, but it's one HELL…
