  • I set this as a goal for this year as well. I created and XLS spreadsheet to keep track of this as well as cycling and machine (elliptical/arc trainer.....) miles. I'd have to check where I am at when i get home but the average, since Jan17, I think is 4.7 miles per day so far (122.2 miles).
  • In addition to what has been said, ensure you maintain good muscle balance. (Perform strength training exercises like lunges, sqauts, planks......). If you eventually up your mileage, the muscle imbalances can lead to injuries. I wish I would've focused on maintaining a balance from the start. It would've helped prevent a…
  • I thought the humor of it could keep me interested................nope, terrible. I couldn't stand watching more than a minute of it.
  • Size large shirt and size 30/32 jeans.
  • I just discussed this with personal trainers this past week. It's to your advantage that you are focused on lifting as it should help keep you from muscle imbalance related injuries. The trainers put me on a 3 day lifting routine (If I had it with me, I'd post it.). My schedule is as follows Monday: Rest Day Tuesday: Lower…
  • That's how I use arc trainers, hands free. I normally try to find a machine which doesn't even have the handles so I'm not tempted. I can definitely feel it in my legs and butt after an hour workout (Walking feels weird for a few minutes afterward.). I don't know if it makes a huge difference using the handles or not…
  • I don't think there is much of a difference between the two, besides personal preference. For me, the recumbent is less prone to give me a wedgy.
  • Pizza Ice Cream Reeces pieces All you can eat Asian buffet (sweet and sour chicken) Cookies Peanut butter Croissants Texas Toast French Toast Homemade Biscuits and Gravy Anything tasty, really
  • I just started using a foam roller, myself, so I can't attest to the benefits yet. I have been using it after every workout for the last week. I don't have one at home, or else I'd use it on off days as well. It does feel good once I am done, but can be a little uncomfortable in spots. It is getting more comfortable the…
  • For most, provided the meniscus isn't torn, 4-6 weeks is the average. http://www.runningwritings.com/2012/02/injury-series-biomechanical-solutions.html is a good article on runners knee. There is also such a thing as quadriceps tendonitis, but that is something for a medical professional to determine what is going on ( I…
  • I agree. If you are dead set on the great wall, why not 2015? Coming from my personal experience, taking your time and building up a good base and slowly ramping up your mileage, as well as strength conditioning will do wonders for you. I did neither and wound up with injures(Twice). I'm back on the rebound now, with more…
  • I buy things for my S.O. on valentines day, as well as other times throughout the year (If I see something which I know will make her :) or could be beneficial to her in her job.). I do think it puts undue pressure to feel compelled to buy and send flowers/jewelry on this specific day, but it's something I'd do for her…
  • What was just stated. When you go to the MY HOME tab, it should display how many calories you have available to eat, based on activity levels and weight loss goals you have selected. If you exercise, this number will increase, and you should eat enough to come close to hitting all of the targets (The more you eat, the…
  • Walking, especially at an incline, is a way to help up your calorie burn to loose weight. I walk quite a bit right now and it helps. I have a family member where he can only walk (Back problems makes it so he can't run/jog.). Through walking and watching what he eats, he has lost 40 lbs. In regards to changing your…
  • If you are planning on continuing to loose weight, don't spend a lot on clothes. If what you have is getting absurdly loose, go to a thrift shop/garage sales and buy second hand until you reach your goal. It can get expensive otherwise. Jeans I had from when I was at 247 just fall straight off of me but I still have ~50lbs…
  • I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism about 6 years ago. It took about a year, year and a half, to get my levels in the acceptable range (I take Levothyroxine). Since my levels are stable and in a normal range, most symptoms have improved. In regards to diet, I try to eat fewer carbs and more protein. When I do this, weight…
  • I believe increasing this much, this quickly could lead to an injury. 2 general rules of thumb I have found is to increase your mileage by 1 mile a week or 10%. Assuming a 5mph pace, you'd be going from 17.5 miles per week to 29.75 miles per week. The enthusiasm is awesome, but I think you'll wind up with injuries which…
  • I'm neither qualified nor experienced in regards to your question on your HR, but your thoughts/actions/attitude on repeating weeks and taking it slowly with the program are sound. I pushed myself to go too far and too fast in a short amount of time and it resulted in injuries which have essentially knocked me back to…
  • Your numbers Obesity Index 29bmi BMI is an estimate of how "overweight" or "obese" a person is National Below average You have a lower BMI than 50% of males aged 30-44 in your country Global Above average You have a higher BMI than 85% of males aged 30-44 in the world Did you know? If everyone in the world had the same BMI…
  • After a couple/few months off, I can still run an easy 2 miles but that's about where my base is right now. If I am running outside, I will use the runtastic app. I want to buy a running watch with GPS and HR monitor, specifically the garmin 220. I really don't like running with my phone. If I am running on an indoor track…
