I started C25k at close to 300 lbs. Just go slow - you should feel like you can hold a conversation while you're running. If you go too fast you'll burn out quick and likely will feel like you can't finish the workouts - so going slow is key, to help you build up your endurance. I finished C25k in June and have been…

My background: 36 yo, 5'5", started off at 300+ lbs in January 2014, now hovering around 200 lbs. My caveat is that I rarely eat ALL of my exercise calories back (though I do when I'm especially hungry!), but ALWAYS eat some of them, usually in the 25-75% range, averaging I'd guess right about 50% eaten back. 1. What is…

Fitbits are a great way to track calories if most to all of your exercise is step-based. If you do workouts that are NOT step based, then your Fitbit will not give you an accurate record of calories burned. A heart rate monitor is a better bet for tracking calories burned for steady-state cardio workouts, regardless of…

Amazing! And congratulations on all aspects of your transformation. So happy for you, your story makes me smile. :D

I started Couch to 5k when I was around 280 lbs. I just made sure I got a decent pair of running shoes and went slow. No problems!

If I exercise every day, I get to eat more every day. That's the benefit! :p Well, yeah, it's nice being more fit too.

Average for regular here in San Francisco is about $2.80/gallon currently.

2 tbs of half & half is 40 calories. I don't like sugar in my coffee but I *need* something creamy to break the acidity. Half & half does the trick for me, since you don't need much to make the coffee creamy.

Go slower. Seriously. You should be able to hold a conversation relatively well, while running. It will feel slow. But you should be able to maintain it. Stay at that pace for awhile and build up your endurance. Increasing speed will come naturally. Or, I highly recommend Couch to 5k. I did the Zombies, Run! version of it…

It's all about just putting one foot in front of the other and just keep going no matter what. Establish routines and do your best to stick with them, even when it's hard. If you slip, it's okay, just as long as you pick yourself up and get back on it. It's not easy, it's not necessarily fun (though it's amazing how much…

The main reason I exercise is so I can eat more! nomnomnom I've lost almost 100 lbs in less than a year, so it seems to be working! Usually eat at least half back, if not more.

Welcome to the city! San Francisco has lots of healthy options, as well as lots of hills and parks to walk/run/bike/hike to get that heart beating! It's a great city to be in. Enjoy!

Here's mine - I've currently lost 97 lbs, hoping to reach 100 in the next couple weeks to make 100 lbs in 1 year! http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/1459570/75-lbs-down/p1

I hike all the time, and have also been thinking of thru-hiking the PCT. Here's one hiking group on MFP that I know of: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/547-hikers-and-backpackers

I went vegetarian at 15yo (though switched to pescatarian when I was 28), so there are quite a few "normal" meats I've never eaten: most types of steak, veal, venison, rabbit, bison, pheasant, etc. But I've eaten quite a few things (and actually eat them regularly, in fact) that others who have posted here have not:…

You're welcome to add me as a friend. I started 2014 at over 300 lbs, and am now 6 lbs away from seeing my weight start with a "1" My initial goal is to get down to 175 and then assess from there what I want my final goal to be.
-
I joined mid-January 2014. No big goal for 2014, since I wanted to lose at least 125 lbs and knew it wouldn't happen in a year. I honestly was just hoping I'd stick with it. But I'm now down 94 lbs, looking forward to crossing that 100 lbs-lost line, and will just keep on going!

I started at 300+ in January, now just 6 lbs away from onederland! Can't wait to get there... was hoping to do it by the new year but if not by then I know it will be soon after.

Week 8 Intermediate/Michonne Cardio: 410/150 Strength: 85/85 Calories: yes Challenge: yes Punishment: exempt as MVP
-
During the week: 1 cup of Fage 2% plain greek yogurt with 2 tbs. of Pb2 (the kind with chocolate) mixed in. Only 215 calories and 27 grams of protein! Keeps me full until lunch and I like that it's slightly - but not too - sweet. On the weekend: 2 pieces of good wheat bread toasted, half an avocado split between them and…

Knitter here! Haven't had much time to knit lately, but there are times when I pretty much can't put down the needles and yarn! :D

Week 7 Intermediate/Michonne Cardio: 655/130 Strength: 81/75 Calories: yes, just barely... over on Thanksgiving and a bit on Friday with leftovers, but luckily had enough of a deficit the other days of the week that I came in under my total calories for the week! Challenge: yes, though for my Thanksgiving workout I did a…

Thanks everyone! So wonderful to have so much support. :D

Congratulations, and nice work! Glad to have you as one of my friends! :)

Don't worry about what other people think of you - the only opinion that matters is yours, and you're doing this for yourself. I started C25k when I was close to 300 lbs, and it honestly never seemed like anyone else out there cared that I was overweight... and if they did care, they kept it to themselves. If I got any…

Fitbit customer service is really great - I've heard stories of them replacing people's Fitbits when they lost them... something that usually just gets blamed on the customer. Depending on how old the device is, I think it's definitely worth it to contact them and see if they can replace it or offer a discount on a new one.

Only 9:30 in the morning here but I'm heading out to the intertidal this afternoon to do some field work and knowing me I'll be tired afterward and would forget to check in tonight. :) Week 6 Intermediate/Michonne Cardio: 431/130 Strength: 80/75 Calories: yes Punishment: exempt as MVP Challenge: yes Happy to donate extra…

Thank you so much everyone! As of yesterday, I've now lost 91 lbs... can't wait to cross that 100 lbs loss mark! :)

1. Be retrospective like Carol : talk to your team about a fire in your life or smoke you saw that "consumed" you and made you rise like a phoenix from the ashes in a new direction, especially if this story relates to health and fitness like a sport's injury or regaining weight you had lost. I honestly think this weight…
