I lost 100 lbs in a year through diet, hiking, walking, running (starting off with C25k), and in the summer, kayaking. Not once did I step foot in a gym!

Your Fitbit tracks ALL the calories you burn during a day, INCLUDING the calories that are used to just keep you alive - you can look more closely at your calories burned graph and you'll see that your Fitbit is showing a baseline of calories that you burn every 5 minutes - for me, it's 5.5 calories. Here's what mine looks…

When I first got my Fitbit (I have the Zip) I was getting generally about 2-3000 steps per day. I have a job that keeps me sitting at a desk or in meetings most of the day. But I slowly worked to up how much I was walking - both in taking short breaks from my desk to walk around, and also adding in exercise after work so…

My weird substitution recipe is really simple, I have it for breakfast almost every morning. When I first got a couple jars of PB2 and PB2 with chocolate, I saw that it said you could make a "mousse" by mixing it with yogurt. I'm guessing with vanilla yogurt, it would be more dessert-like, but what I do is: 1 c. of Fage 2%…

My double chin has mostly gone away - though from the right (wrong!) angles, I can still get a nice double-chin photo. :\ Photo on the left is a "before" - taken about a year ago, the two on the right are current.

The police test was tough! One zero = total fail! So I failed too because my usual running pace is ~10.5 minutes a mile. Good thing I'm not planning on applying for a job as a police officer! :D

If anyone needs extra cardio minutes this week, just let me know - I'll have a ton! :)
-
Nice work this past week, everyone! I'm already over my cardio total for the week since I went cross-country skiing for the first time this weekend... wow! It's quite the workout! But it was so beautiful and so nice to be in the snow.

One year of progress.

Happy to be back on the intermediate team! :) I need this to re-motivate myself to do strength training!
-
I've lost 101 lbs since January 2014.

Thanks everyone! I appreciate the support. And seriously, if I can do it, I firmly believe anyone can!

Since when does a cover photo automatically equal "fat acceptance"? God forbid we ever put anything other than exactly average in every way people on the cover of a magazine, otherwise we might be accepting of their non-averageness! And my $0.02, for what it's worth, is that everyone deserves to be accepted for what they…

One serving of 2% Fage Plain Greek Yogurt, mixed with one serving of PB2 with chocolate. 27 grams of protein and only 215 calories!

300+ lbs and just starting my fitness journey - I joined MFP on Jan. 15, 2014. Now I'm 199 lbs and still going strong!

5'5" Started at 300+, one year later I'm at 199, and still going strong!

LOVE IT. I started as a 100% non-runner (like, seriously, I hadn't run probably since I was last forced to in PE in high school) with the Zombies, Run C25k program. Finished that, then finished Season 1 of the regular app, now over halfway done with Season 2. I love being Runner 5! <3

22K steps will *definitely* earn you an extra 1000+ calories! That's about 11 miles of walking! Trust the Fitbit - I've had mine for a year and have lost 100 lbs using it synced with MFP. Eat 50-75% of the calories back to account for some over-estimation.

Thanks everyone! Just a heads up that I posted my most recent progress (and photos) here: One year, 100 lbs.
-
@PatinMich - totally doable! And yes, if you're motivated to start an exercise routine, I say go for it! The bike sounds like a great idea, even just walking on the treadmill is great. I started the C25k program, outside, when I was just under 300 lbs. For me, it was important to start slow so I could build up endurance.…

@kar328 I definitely took a photo of it! :D Mainly to have proof for myself since I still can't quite believe it.

Assuming you have a lot to lose (like me), losing 100 lbs in a year is totally do-able... I certainly don't think I'm a special case. And I did it without starving myself - I eat A LOT - and didn't eliminate any foods from my diet. But I also move a lot, which I had to work up to - I was very sedentary in the beginning,…

Thanks everyone! Glad I can provide a little inspiration after so many others on here have inspired me along this journey. <3

My boyfriend and I have an agreement not to buy each other gifts for Valentine's Day - instead, we rent a house somewhere and have a long weekend together. The last 4 years we've picked places within driving distance here in northern California. This year we're hopping on a plane and going to Seattle!

Thanks everyone! I appreciate all the support. <3

Getting excited! It's almost February...
-
341 today, though I've been using MFP for a little over a year - didn't sign in for a couple days in February 2014 before I understood the power of the streak! :)

You certainly don't have to finish a week of C25k in an actual week! If you feel like having a rest day would help, just do C25k 2 days per week. Sure, it'll take you a bit longer to finish the program, but that's totally fine. I did an "8 week" version of C25k that actually took more like 10-11 weeks for me to actually…

However, you *should* enter workouts that are NOT step-based, e.g., if you go for a bicycle ride one day and you're wearing your Fitbit, your Fitbit will not accurately record that workout, because it's not step-based. So you need to be accurate in your start and stop times for the workout, and when you enter it, anything…
-
Don't manually enter the workout. Your Fitbit captures your run on the treadmill because it's step-based, and will give you earned calories because it's synced with MFP. And it's more accurate than the calories burned for a generic MFP workout entry. For example, I go running almost every day, but I NEVER log running as an…
