Work in SF, live in SF (outer sunset, baby!).

Make sure you check the box to have your GPS enabled - I'm assuming that's how it keeps track of distance.

I'm also Runner 5. Though I'm doing the C25K training, which is still a good story but doesn't have all the fun missions that the regular app has. If i survive the C25K without being caught and eaten by a zombie then I look forward to moving on to the regular app!

When I was a kid I wanted to be a pediatrician for awhile, then moved on to thinking I should be a fashion designer. I ended up being a marine biologist, which tends to be high on the list of "childhood dream jobs" - but it wasn't on mine. I do love it, though!

I'm currently doing the Zombies, Run! C25K... it's literally the only thing that can get me to run - zombies chasing after me.

I totally spend way too much time browsing the internet at work (like right now). I like to tell myself that it's because when I do work, I'm super-focused and productive so I finish much faster than most people would... so I end up with free time. I also love to pull apart my split ends - I get in this crazy black…

You would probably get a much more accurate estimation on your calories burned if you let your Fitbit sync all your step-based activities/exercise. Any other exercise you do that is NOT step-based (bicycling, weight lifting, etc.) you should log through MFP with accurate start and stop times so you're not double-counting…

I'm a pretty decent baker/cook myself and tend to make quite a few meals from scratch. I usually buy organic, fresh food as well. But my issue was portion control - I could cook a beautiful homemade meal made with lots of great ingredients - and then eat 2000 calories worth of it. So... it's a trade-off. You can…

Ha, nice! I work in a museum too and I do laps around the floor during the day, all while weaving in and out of groups!

I'll also agree with getting a Fitbit - it was a huge motivator for me! I was totally in the the go to work, sit for 8 hours, take the elevator everywhere, come home and sit in front of the computer/tv routine before I got my Fitbit. I went from ~2000 steps a day to now regularly getting 11-15K steps a day. I make sure I…

Are you saying that MFP is telling you to eat 1652 calories a day or that you've calculated your TDEE and that -20% is 1652? Because MFP does not use the TDEE-20% method. When you calculate your TDEE you should be taking into account all activity you do on a fairly regular basis, in which case you would NOT eat your…

Starting with walking is great. Especially if you're working on increasing your distance and/or pace. If you feel like you want to do more, you could also supplement that with a C25K program a few days a week - the first few weeks are much more walking-based with very small intervals of running, working you up very slowly…

When you sync your Fitbit and MFP together, Fitbit will automatically add your step-based exercise/activities calories burned to MFP. You do not need to log those activities in MFP. However, if you do some other type of exercise that's not totally step-based (biking, aerobics, etc.), then you should log those in MFP with…

I really like the Bai 5 Antioxidant Infusions. Coconut, pear, and peach are my favorites. 10 calories for 18 fl oz.

Yes, you can sync your Fitbit with MFP. I let Fitbit calculate my calories burned from step-based exercise/activities, but log my food in MFP since there's a much better database here. The two work together to let me know how many calories I've burned and how many calories I have left to eat for the day.

Once a week. That way I don't have to see the everyday up and down fluctuations, I just get to see a slightly lower number each week. It's the trend that's important! Plus I know if I did it more often, I could get a bit obsessive about it. So once a week, the scale comes out, I step on it, and then the scale gets…

For my digital scale, I put it on the floor, step on it for a second, then step off. It then shows a "C" in the display, meaning it's now calibrated. Then I step on to see my weight. You can probably Google your brand of scale to see how to calibrate it.

Fish. Couldn't stand it as a kid - probably because I never developed a taste for it since we never had it at home, so anytime I was faced with it I found it repulsive. Now - can't get enough of it! I was vegetarian for about 10 years and then started adding fish to my diet for more protein... definitely a full-on…

I agree with the comments above - make sure your scale has fresh batteries, it's on a hard, flat surface, and that you calibrate it every time you move it. Seeing a change of 15 lbs in a day points to scale issues more than weight issues. That said, I also really recommend NOT weighing yourself every day! Or, if you really…

Buy a scale that goes above 300. Find one that goes up to 400 or so - they're not that expensive. How do you know you're doing anything wrong if you can't really measure if you've lost weight? And yes, as others have said, take measurements. Or do you feel you should've lost the 50 pounds by now that would put you below…

My new favorite way to cook fish is en papillote - basically baking it in a package of parchment paper, with herbs/spices/veggies/etc. - lots of ways to do it! I enjoy it because the fish always comes out tender, not dry, and you don't have to add a bunch of oil to make it not stick to anything. Here's an example:…

I own a low pair (so trail shoes instead of boots) of Keens that are wonderful, and for a hiking boot I have a pair of Lowas - which are so amazingly light!

Today I finished Week 1, Day 3 of C25K. Which means I'm done with the first week and on to the second. Which means I didn't quit in the first week, like I was afraid I would. Since I haven't willingly run in at least 20 years. The crazy thing? I'm kind of enjoying it.

The beautiful Zim Zim Valley in the Knoxville Wilderness Area, north of Lake Berryessa, CA. 8+ mile round trip to hike the valley to the top of the waterfall. You have to cross the creek nine times as you head up the valley. Zim Zim Falls Made it to the top of valley, above the falls! The Zim Zim Valley from above

Considering OP posted this in November, let's all hope she's pooped by now.

No, you can't use a streaming music source - it has to be a playlist saved on your phone. That was the most annoying part for me, since I don't store music on my phone... but I threw together a playlist and put it on the default music player that I have on my Android and it's worked great.

I really like the Zombies, Run! C25K app, but it isn't free... I think it's $1.99? I don't think there's anything visual on the screen, but you're listening to and part of a story, so that's pretty engaging. And while you're running it's synced to your playlists. Sorry, that's the only app I've tried, so I can't say…
