It sounds like you are doing a terrific job AND, very importantly, you are consistent. You are building mental and physical toughness right now. You understand that there is no room in your life for injury so you are giving yourself time to adapt and progress. Don't compare yourself with others because you are STRONG and…

Hello, I am Jennifer. I was a rower before I transitioned over to a full-time runner this past March because of a labral tear in my left shoulder. I am signed up for 2 1/2 marathons this summer (May 24 and August 17). My goal is sub 2 hour and, of course, faster during the second one. My weekly goals are 25-30+ miles. I…

Just last night I went to a concert and the seats were narrow and close together. With my sweater shoved on one side of me and my purse on the other I still had wiggle room. I was comfortable and when I looked down at my lap I finally saw my thinner self.

I can completely understand. Running makes me really hungry and the first thing I reach for is SUGAR. On top of that I am a (recovering) binger too. It is best to fill up on nutrient dense foods though so you can power through your next run. I rely on lots of water, protein, and fiber. Depending on how long you are running…

I just steam or roast them and eat them. No sauce covering up their delicious flavor. At the holidays, I will saute them in brown butter and add roast chestnuts or any kind of nut.

I am pretty spent after my runs so I take my shower first then stretch.

I have been doing this series of stretches before my runs and I think they have been helpful. http://www.menshealth.com/fitness/perfect-pre-race-warmup-under-5-minutes I enjoy doing hatha yoga after running.

There is an interesting audience on this site and many are quite steadfast in their thoughts and bro science. Many can still eat all the fast food and junk food they want without any ill effects. As I have gotten older, I can no longer do that. These "foods" slow my entire system down and wreak havoc with my blood sugar. I…
