What a weird month. Weight loss is very slow as I have increased my running and my calories. I have been stuck at 158.5 for the past 2 Mondays but today I am at 156.3. Still going down...so I will take it!

Concentrating on form and strength (Glute and Hip) are the only things that help me with my IT band.

I take a spoon and scrape out the ribs of a portabello after removing the stem. I have never peeled the outside of any mushroom.

Regular apples are heavily sprayed with pesticides so I choose organic. Plus, IMO they have more flavor. Honey Crisps, Fujis, Pink Ladys, and Galas all the way!!!!

My husband and son loves their starches so I make one at every meal. I usually make a sauce to go with the meal too. Corn on the Cob is my son's favorite. Pasta Millet White, Brown, wild rice Farro bulgur Cous cous (regular and isreali) barley I take a lot less than they do. I am the queen of the 1/4C serving and I am low…

^ I completely agree. Last week I ran 35miles and gained a pound. Every week I run more than 30 I gain. I lose the most right around 18mpw

It is completely normal. For me, it comes in waves. I will be ravenous for a few days and then it will slowly fade. Keep your foods nutrient dense and your protein and your fiber up. They will keep you fuller. Drink lots of water too. Allow yourself to eat and enjoy it. Your body needs food! Keep up the good work

We call that sri-ranch-a in my house. It's the best!

One of my favorite snacks is a 1/4C of mixed nuts mixed with Sambal Oelek, raw chili paste. Mrs. Renfro's Ghost Pepper Salsa is the best too.

Hello I am Jennifer. I have always loved the freedom of running and admired those that could do it but until recently I wasn't a full-time runner. Going out for a run was something I would pay the $$ as I hobbled around in pain. I have had 7 knee surgeries in my life, the last one removing a cyst from within my tibia.…

On a whim, I ran a 5k yesterday to start my running week. I took the day off on Sunday. I thought it was pretty hard and kept wondering if it would have felt better if I had run easy the day before. My legs and lungs sometimes forget how to work after a day off. For an in-town 5k I highly recommend running the course…

Some of my favorites too. Very funny...it took me a moment...ha ha!

Check out Dub music. It has a consistent driving beat. I really enjoy running to King Tubby especially long runs. Another staple in my playlist is anything by The New Mastersounds.

I have always been bad at pacing the 5k. Almost as bad when I ran the 400 in high school. There is no time for comfort. I haven't run one in a while so I tried today ballz out ending 27:13. I was definitely running at the edge. It felt good but I much prefer longer distances where i can relax into a pace. This was a great…

Wear a dress. My thighs were always the determinate in my pants size too. They were always too big in the waist. I was very hourglass as a bigger girl. As I have gotten leaner my physique has become more straight, less hourglass. I no longer have that problem. Clothes, generally fit better As you do the work, you will get…

I am not sure about the runners high but there are times where I will zone out and then be surprised when I realize that I am still running. Whoa! For me, I see my runner's high more as an after affect. It is in how I miss it on my rest days.

You may think it silly but have you tried SMILING? Think of how a positive attitude helps with other stressful occasions you encounter in your daily life. Add in some positive self-talk and you will be laughing at the wind. I live in Alaska and it is cold and windy for most of the year here and sometimes the only thing…

Not a day goes by where I am not inspired by the people in this thread. Because of you all I constantly strive to improve and push myself to the next level. I belong here.

I agree that you need to build your aerobic base as a beginner. Intermediate runners (and you should classify yourself as one if you are running 13.1 miles ) if they have the drive, should have options to challenge themselves. These challenges are what strengthen us as runners both mentally and physically. Also,…
