Pros - no calories. Suitable for diabetics. Cons - the only one that I can think of is that you maintain a sweet tooth, which might make you inclined to over-indulge in sugary foods at other times.

Diet soda contains no calories and is primarily water, so I don't see any problem with it. I guzzled it when I was losing weight last year. Helped me feel full.

Apple sauce is actually pretty widely available, it's the stuff you have with roast pork: http://www.tesco.com/groceries/Product/Details/?id=255843343 But yeah the stuff you make at home (good way of using masses of fallen apples) is better!

Develop a serious salad addiction. Shop for interesting raw veg and fruits, and gorge yourself on leafy stuff (adding a little bit of lean meat and wholegrains) until you have little room left for the unhealthy foods.

A strict diet can work; I lost a lot of weight (about 24lb) last year doing (in part) just that. The first 10lb came off using a one-week diet I found online which was very calorie and carb restricted. Then in the following weeks I allowed myself to eat a little more normally but incorporating some of the sorts of meals…

Hi all! I'm from Ripley (near to Derby / Nottingham). Lost the best part of a couple of stone last year, now I'm focussed on continued very gradual weight loss while toning up my physique a bit. Feel free to add, check out my diary, offer support etc and I'll do the same!

My favourite is wholemeal pitta bread, 1 slice of ham, watercress and cherry tomatoes. Under 200 cals and makes you feel full! You could use turkey rashers or very lean bacon.
