Well, putting aside the fact that any exercise is good, helps you become stronger, fitter and more healthy... The exercises will help tighten your existing muscles and give you some muscle definition, which - if you don't have any/much fat lying on top of the muscles - will make them look healthy, defined and slightly…

Looking forward to seeing the before/after pictures. I've been working at this for 7 months and haven't lost 50 lbs yet! (though I have much less to lose in total). Be proud - it's downhill from here, you've mastered the technique :)

You look excellent! All your hairstyles suit you, too.

Congratulations. How on earth do you manage to run so fast? I regularly run fairly long distances - 9+ miles - but I can't ever manage more than a 12 minute mile. I'm really impressed you are so speedy having just completed the C25K! You must feel amazing!

That's such a good NSV. (I hope the burn is OK now.) My resting heart rate used to be in the 90s, and probably went up to the 100s before I started losing weight too. Keep up with the exercise and aim to lower your resting heart rate even more! It could take a few months but wouldn't it be great if you had a resting heart…

Hey, you can tighten your muscles underneath the fat, but you can't spot-reduce the fat loss. The best way to reduce the size of your arms is to lose more weight and it'll partially come off from your arms in due course. If your arms have very little fat on them now, doing specific arm exercises will increase the muscle…

Although I agree with the notion that people shouldn't wear frilly normal bras during sport, what about the people who don't have any breast to support? How about changing the rule: instead of having to wear a sports bra, how about disallowing normal bras? That way girls who have no breasts whatsoever can wear nothing, but…

I'm not Muslim myself, but with half my family from Turkey & several Muslim friends... From what I've gathered when my friends observe the fast, they do tend to put on weight from the large post-sunset meals. I'm guessing because it's the middle of summer it's harder to eat enough after sunset because it is so late…

Losing 10 pounds is no walk in the park. Good luck for the next lot :)

I personally weigh every day and only record new low weights. In the long-term it does balance out. Some people prefer weighing in weekly, and that's fine if it helps, but I personally feel that puts too much pressure on "weigh-in day" and if it goes badly it puts me off. I prefer having more data points! You'll need to…

LOOK! You're shrinking! Do it again!

I personally would prefer as little hair as possible, HOWEVER, I would rather someone didn't wax/shave it if they were more hairy - I think a partner should be able to cope without demanding hair removal. Also, I'm more interested in a person's brain than their body. I prefer women who are more comfortable with not shaving…

That's a huge amount of weight lost. Have you still got the green top? Take a photo of yourself in that green top now! It'll look so baggy!

I'm so pleased for you! Make sure you've split your journey into minigoals, if it helps. 10 lb intervals until 200 lbs and then 5 lb intervals after that. I'm really impressed when people lose so much weight (more than I've ever had to lose at least). Onederland is calling you now, eh!?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but surely if you have no large intestine, your food absorption will also be severely affected. I don't know much about this area so I could be wrong. I am not sure whether the majority of food absorption happens in the small or large intestine. Perhaps you need a lot more than other people to get…

I can hear voices nobody else can hear. Except when I'm on my medication  I can drink 28 cups of coffee in a day and not get hospitalised. That's the limit though... from experience...

HOLD THE HORSES! I didn't see that! Warning alarms go off in my head when someone gives unsubstantiated claims and then advertises something you pay for... www.badscience.net

I'd really appreciate if you added some research to back up your points rather than simply state something as fact? I'm not saying it's wrong, it's just impossible for me to take what someone says at face value. Now in no way am I trying to contradict you with just one person's data, but: I eat a lot of wholegrain AND…

I wouldn't be quick to base anything on one study. Even if the studies were well conducted (and I haven't read the original study) the article relies on shock factor quite a bit (I.e., brain eating itself, sounds destructive, bad and abnormal) and actually this mechanism might be perfectly fine and I seriously doubt it…

About 58 when lying down. Used to be around 80 a few years ago.

It's the pure weight of the food you ingested. When you egest (poo) out all the undigested material it is likely your weight will return to almost normal. People forget about the weight of undigested material in food.

Take lots of vegetables (aubergines, onions, courgettes, all that stuff) and fry them up (onions first), and then plonk in a tin or two of chopped tomatoes and simmer for 20 mins or so. Don't forget to add a teaspoon of sugar (unrefined if you're cutting down on refined sugar). It's good with bread. The taste of the…

I was quick to realise, at the beginning when I expected a loss every day, that if I've gained 2 lbs overnight it does NOT mean I've eaten 7000 calories without realising and put on 2 lbs of fat... it can only be water weight. I will agree that some people will be discouraged by gains on the scale. The difference for me is…

Turkish low-calorie dish. This is the readout from my recipe: Oil - Olive, 25 g Tesco - Stringless Beans, 800 g Onions - Raw, 212.5 g Tesco - Italian Chopped Tomatoes, 1 tin Silver Spoon - Caster Sugar, 9 grams Marigold - Swiss Vegetable Bouillon Powder, 15 g Fry onions in oil in a saucepan When brown add beans, chopped…

Let's see, given that you'll be doing training runs (like me, I'm training for a half) that last 5/6+ miles, you should be eating 500 - 600 extra calories on these days, approximately (1 mile = 100ish calories). On days you run 9/10 miles near the end of your training, you should eat an extra 1000 calories. I'd definitely…

Erm, the point of finding scientific articles on subjects isn't necessarily to find a scientific article that reflects your viewpoint, but one that gathers together enough data and tries to find the most sensible and reasonable conclusion possible. Launching into a search for a single paper, even from a good journal, which…

I didn't need a bra until I was 16. It would have been embarrassing to have to wear an A cup sports bra which I was unable to fill. It was bad enough measuring 4'8" at age 14 in netball... Educated, not required.
