Since January I've never missed a weigh-in on any morning (even when on holiday). I am not driven insane by it and am never discouraged by unexplainable gains. I really like doing it this way and I don't plan to cut it down!

The reason why I'm 'spitting venom' on here about it is because this particular blood group diet has NO scientific evidence. Firstly, the blood group diet doesn't make any physiological sense. Let me explain: your blood type is dictated by two genes (one from your mother and one from your father). Genes make proteins,…

It's not TMI - there are other people who are probably thinking, "Phew! It's not just me!" when they read your post. Thanks for bringing up the itchy scalp problem - I was having quite an itchy scalp but haven't been bothered by it at all for the last few months. I wonder whether it's caused by weight loss or just…

The pictures of you in the green top are lovely. Such a good figure! Good luck with the final stretch to the finish line, wherever it may be :)

Wow. You've revealed such an athletic figure in the last two photos :) Good luck with whatever you're doing next in the pursuit of health.

See a doctor. Also, don't see a 'nutritionist', see a 'dietician'. Nutritionists do not have to be qualified and the word isn't protected, whereas dieticians must be qualified and not anyone can start calling themselves one. (Ben Goldacre - a science journalist - has a dead cat which is a 'certified nutritionist'!) But…

Perhaps if you're managing a 30 min 5K including walking breaks, you may be running too fast when you DO run. As BerryH says, take it more slowly.

OK, I just have to chip in here: If you're of the view point that muscle weighs the same as fat... You can't tell anyone "butter has more Calories than celery" anymore. They have the same nutritional content! Why? 100 Calories of butter = 100 Calories of celery. Just making sure you're being consistent, that's all.

Thank you so much everyone! Squee! Less than 10 pounds to my first goal! *dance*

I'm 5'4"! Thank you everyone :D

I do need shoes! Since I've lost weight, most of my shoes are now too big for me... lots of fat came off my feet.

In the hour's time this slightly pointless argument over semantics has been discussed, you could have burned a good 7th of a pound of fat off in exercise!

I'm in the UK and buy my berries (raspberries, blackberries, blueberries & strawberries) from Tesco. I guess they just import less sweet berries than in the US, which would be MFP's values. Regional differences and all that. I'd go with the supermarket label, as you have done. :)

Binging can be a problem for either gender. Eating disorders also affect either gender but is often seen as a 'female disorder' due to its greater (but not overwhelming) prevalence in women. This overlooks men with the disorder and makes it harder for them to get help...

Often I have to battle the "I've mucked this day up now, might as well muck it up some more" thought, whereas stopping in the middle of a binge is a perfectly sensible option and does less damage. The trick is to remember this is a valid option in the middle of a binge (very difficult in the thick of it). Biggest thing I'd…

Thanks! Your responses have been helpful. I've tried the MFP search function but didn't have much luck finding specific answers to some of the Qs (like right/left arm asymmetry). I'll try and find a cheap copy of Strength Training for Dummies off eBay... if it's had two recommendations it must be useful! Thanks! :)

Heya! In the long term, it doesn't really matter. Things will average out. However from a psychological point of view you have a choice... feel good about yourself now having lost 7 lbs, and feel a bit sad next week when you don't lose so much on a morning weigh-in, or alternatively log a 3 lb loss today and go with a…

Actually there are plenty of UKers! *waves* *waves on behalf of the other UKers*

My friends have been more supportive of my weight loss than I'd imagine given that a couple of them struggle with keeping their own weight down. Nevertheless they have been truly wonderful, letting me know when I've shrunk a bit more and supporting me with my fitness pursuits (they'll come and see me at my…

I'm sorry to hear. I myself was in a 3 year relationship online and they died. It is a horrendous thing. I second this statement whole-heartedly. Unfortunately I will not be doing this as I don't have a significant other to inform. If I ever end up with a significant other, it'll be on my list.

54 pounds in the last 6 months is 9 pounds a month, which is quite a phenomenal rate. Perhaps it IS time to cut back a little and let the weight come off more gently. If an hour of exercise a day is getting relentlessly boring, try mixing it up or lowering it slightly - you may need a bit of a break to regain your love of…

I certainly do not judge other people on their habits. Why? I don't know the bigger picture. Food addiction/overeating often goes hand-in-hand with mental illnesses such as addiction or anxiety disorders. Overeating and lack of adequate exercise is often a symptom of something worse. I should know, it was in my case. I…

You don't appear to suffer from knocked knees anymore. Your knees used to come together and then your feet would be splayed apart below that point. Now you stand with a gap between the knees and your leg are almost fully straight. The same thing's happened to me, so it's great to see the same change in another person. When…

Labwork is exhausting. I probably burn more calories worrying whether I've poured the wrong test-tube-that-looks-like-all-the-other-bloody-test-tubes down the sink and undone a month's labour by accident. There's no exercise entry listed for "Mild lab anxiety - light trembling, 10 Hz" though :(

^ I disagree! Would you dispute "butter has more calories than celery"? With your reasoning you should, because 300 calories of butter = 300 calories of celery. It is important that when comparing the properties of two substances to keep control variables the same, which in the case of muscle/fat is keeping the volume the…

Person 1: I've been eating within my goals, strength training, cardio training and eating back exercise cals! I gained three pounds in the last week. WHY? Person 2: You must have gained 3 lbs of muscle. Muscle weighs more than fat. Person 3: ACTUALLY, a pound of muscle weighs as much as a pound of fat. It doesn't weigh…
