  • I'm a big fan of the Tesco pre-packaged vegetables (e.g. carrots, broccoli, cauliflower) which come in bags that you pierce once and then put in the microwave for 3 mins. There you go, huge serving of instant cooked vegetables for 100 cals or so. Also the pre-packaged fruit salad (or 65 calorie mango snack packs!) are…
  • If I were to say anything, I'd say it would be best to check your circuit training burns (you may be overestimating them and eating back too many calories). If those are Jillian DVDs - it does definitely depend on your fitness level - but on the 30 Day Shred I burn between 100 and 220 calories (now nearer the lower end,…
  • Do you see a difference in the mirror, or has anyone spotted your weight loss yet? The weight obviously is coming from somewhere. It's not physically possible to lose 28 lbs of water weight alone (and even then, water occupies volume!).
  • I have "cankles" and do a lot of running. I'm not sure if it's fat or whether it's my bones, but I never get weakness in my ankles especially while running. They're solid and don't fall apart when in use. I like them :P
  • I'm a 34B or so and really like having a small chest. Some people prefer it! They don't get in the way or bounce too much while running. Small boobs are practical. I personally think they look better too. Small breasts tend to be more perky and less droopy. Be proud of them.
  • Where can I get a pair of your collarbones
  • Don't worry, any medical school won't care about critical thinking, so he's best not wasting time over it. It's usually classed in the same boat as General Studies - which almost all universities say that they will disregard. Good luck for him getting into medical school!
  • Good luck you guys, I got mine 3-4 years ago now but obviously terrifying. To the A2 resulters: I really hope you do well and make your grades for university if you're going down that route. If anyone's either going off to do Biochemistry (or a related course) send me a friend request! Or alternatively if you're off to…
  • We obviously can't decide between No. 1 and No. 2 The solution is OBVIOUS Left foot = No. 1 Right foot = No. 2
  • I have a weird friend and his hatred of being physically fit is rather adorable :P he has abs without even trying. He doesn't like having abs...
  • Maybe he means... Turn up with lentils
  • Just to clarify, I'm not much of a fan myself, but I would rather she didn't shave than removed hair which she doesn't want to remove.
  • I'm weird - these will not be commonly shared ideas! - a man who doesn't get all weird about cross-dressing. Cross dressing does not make you female!! - a man with features of a feminine figure - namely narrow waist and slightly wider hips - but fairly broad shoulders too - that looks good, especially on dancers - know the…
  • - not afraid not to wear makeup if she doesn't actually want to - not afraid to not shave if she doesn't actually want to (i.e., do not feel like you have to conform to society's expectations of "female", just do what you like) - intelligence and independent thinking. - intelligence and caring nature. - intelligence and…
  • Look, if you think 11 mph is steady, I think I'm going to run at a paltry 5 mph into my corner and cry
  • Hi everyone! I will jump on this bandwagon of the college/university weight loss thread... I'm going back to university in the UK on 29th September for my third year. I have just had to take a year out because of health problems but I took the time to shed 46 lbs and I'm below the weight that I started uni at... I'm hoping…
  • Don't eat anything as you won't be able to keep it down. Take some Coke (not diet Coke) and dilute it 1:1 with water. Sip it through the day. You tend to get dehydrated if you're throwing up and that is a perfect rehydration fluid. Tastes a bit odd, but you'll get used to it, and it has half the calories of normal coke!…

  • Thanks for the tips. I have been wondering what to do for exercise as October (and going back to university) approaches. Perhaps a 20 min DVD would do wonders every morning for a quick 100 cal burn (I can't seem to burn more than this!) and far more approachable than a morning run. Lectures start at 9am so I'd probably…
  • Excellent stuff :) The comments are what keep us going sometimes... partly because most people don't want to mention weight loss... so when they do, it's obviously made an impact! When you hit healthy BMI that will feel absolutely fabulous. Only 4 lbs to go, you can do it! You'll be there in a month or two! :)
  • Have you read up on dihydrogen monoxide? That stuff really can kill. It's really bad if you simply inhale it (it can kill) in its liquid form, and long exposure to solid dihydrogen monoxide can cause tissue damage. Gaseous dihydrogen monoxide can cause severe burns too.
  • Please find a more balanced article... it's fine for an article to reach a conclusion, but there's no point if it only discusses the FOR evidence or the AGAINST evidence alone.
  • I get you. I mainly get it while NOT looking in a mirror. I KNOW it's psychological, but I feel the fat surrounding my organs, under my skin... it's yellow and greasy and slimy and bouncy, and it's THERE, and it's hanging around my belly and weighing me down, and around my thighs. It's around my heart, which I can't see,…
  • Thank you, that's reassuring :)
  • Don't factor their opinions into the equation. This is your body. If you're still overweight BMI there's nothing wrong with losing another stone. Don't assume that these people are looking out for your well-being. They probably don't want you to have a better health than they do. They'd feel bad.
  • OK! I hyperventilate in those circumstances. Well, I don't mind talking to my friends, but the thought of combining THAT with THOSE sorts of feelings makes me incredibly nervous, and I'm prone to panic attacks as I have an anxiety disorder... I haven't had one for a while but that's probably because I haven't been in many…
  • I usually like people I'm already friends with so they know me already. It's usually just awkward (this is only from a sample of two people, so this might not be true forever) and I feel really, really uncomfortable around them, and I have an overwhelming urge to stay but an overwhelming urge to leave and I don't know what…
  • That's really kind of you to say. I tell myself that one day I'll believe you, too - I've lost nearly all the weight which was making me feel self-conscious, but I still feel self-conscious about my appearance. I can't get out of 'fat mentality'! One day I hope to wake up and realise that I'm taking proper care of myself…
  • I'll see how I feel... now I know what it is, I have a better idea of what situations it might be appropriate in... I'm not too scared of being rejected as I certainly wouldn't flirt with anyone who I was actually really interested in (I avoid those people) but I'm really scared of getting 'flirting' wrong and looking…
  • Thanks for posting :) I'm getting the impression I should probably stay away from flirting, but I'd love to be able to recognise it from other people. I wouldn't be able to say whether it was tougher for a guy or a lady. I'll never experience the other person's viewpoint so I don't think I'd be able to judge! It's probably…
  • Thanks for the advice. I guess it doesn't come naturally to me I should probably avoid it. But even so I'd love to be able to recognise when someone else is flirting (if it's possible to flirt with someone who doesn't realise you're trying to flirt with them). I was absolutely certain nobody had ever flirted with me when I…
