Feel free to friend me - I'm finding this works well; I am a former (three times) WW lifetime member, tried (but didn't use much) MyFoodDiary for about 4 years, but the last couple of months on MFP with the accountability factor gained by opening my diary and connecting with folks is making a real difference for me!
-
Always willing to be MFP friends with anyone who wants to connect; the friends aspect of this deal, and the fact that when I open up my food diary to be visible, is what keeps me accountable and on track. Feel free to add me.

No shelfish because of allergies, or do you just not like them?
-
I don't know for sure, but I seem to recall that once on a government bid I declared myself to be a Black, Hispanic, Lesbian Female in order to improve my bidding position - but not sure you'll buy that? I'd still like to be your friend!

Hey folks, we're ALL cute. Some of us are just still covering it up with our fat suit!
-
WTF?!?!?!?! I was going to contribute some things like: Buttermilk Raw oysters Smoked eel Escargot Ludifisk Gefeltafish Roasted grasshoppers But Duck Embryo???? Pork guts?????
-
Wow - that is fantastic! I'm going to MFP friend you because I want as many successful friends on this journey as I can get!
-
I could do that when I was younger. I smoked then and I could hold my breath and blow hard and smoke would come out of my eyes!

I'm not from Virginia, but I've got friends from all over and find it helpful!

I know I'm old and out of touch, but here's a thought: WHY WOULD YOU PIERCE YOUR TONGUE?!?!?!? My daughter had hers pierced when she was just 17 and she thought it was really cool, she's now 35 and took the stud out over ten years ago, but she STILL has a slight speech impediment from it. SHE doesn't think so, but I can…

I get it - I'm a recovering alcholic nearly 30 years sober, and yet I STILL struggle with the whole food thing. To me the thing to remember is we ALL start again EVERY DAY, and we can either embrace that and do the best we can with today, or we can lament that we aren't doing so.

Thanks for the reminder - drinking the water is key to weight loss with any program. Why? Because THE STOMACH IS STUPID! Filling it with cold water twenty minutes before a meal makes it think "Oh, why am I even eating? I'm not hungry?" Whiuch reminds me - I'm gonna go drink two glasses of water RIGHT NOW before I go meet…

For me the motivation/encouragement/accountability of MFP friends is the key. Also, open your diary to be viewed by anyone - you will get some valuable coaching, encouragement, and feedback!

This site's "secret weapon" is the friends aspect. Keeps me accountable!
-
That is incredible! Congratulations, and keep at it!

Try swimming - its really good limbering exercise, burns a lot of calories, and doesn't tear up knees or hips, and burns a lot of calories! Alternatively water aerobics is nearly as good.
-
I SAVED the email, but now I'm going to FRIEND you so that I can't buy it!

There's a blues singer with the name Candy Cane!
-
I've found it very helpful to open my diary so that others can advise/encourage/motivate me, and to get a bunch of MFP friends.

Glad you're here. I'm DEFINITELY "45+" and this is working for me.
-
I watch them both - wouldn't miss either one. Really helps to have a DVR. I watch ANYTHING with Steve Buscemi in it. By the way, for those completely addicted to TV dramas, you might want to know that his brother is the character "God" in "Nurse Jackie"

It works if you work it!

Best advice I ever got (and didn't use!) was to always chew every bite of food 25 times. I DID try it for a while, and frankly your jaw gets so tired and you get so bored that its pretty hard to overeat :)
-
For me whenever I eat after 9:00 pm I pig out - just made a committment to myself to NOT eat after 9:00 pm unless I'm at a party and/or haven't eaten dinner yet. What happens to me is when I eat later at night, I tend to get the sense of "oh crap, I've blown it, might as well go to town on it!" which is of course, very…

I love your humor!

I'd like to join!
-
For me its none - but that is because I'm a recovering alchoholic/addict and have been for the last 30 years or so. My "food addiction" is kind of a substitute.
-
Nice post and great job sticking to it!

We ALL start over again every day, shortly after we wake up - whether we know it or not. Keep at it!

I'd say just keep at it; works pretty much for everyone, young or old, very overweight or only a little to lose, healthy or not so - its a basic premise that keeping track of what we eat, monitoring that, exercising, and drinking enough water pay off in health and weight loss benefits in the long term.
