  • My doctor is ecstatic about my weight loss. He was really pressing me to get gastric bypass and I made my mind up that I could get on top of this problem without that extreme. I don't have it whipped but I am feeling pretty good about the progress so far. Thank you for the feedback.
  • Just back from a visit to the doctor and dropped my blood pressure meds completely, dropped Triglyceride meds completely, Advicor - gone, Diabetes meds dramatically reduced. There must be something to this weight loss thing. Guess I will keep at it.
  • Our minds can do so much to help and undermine efforts to change bad habits. Not much we can do about that except try to understand our own motivations.
  • Hi Lindsay, I wish you the very best in this life long journey of recovery. I have been working pretty hard at understanding the mental side of my lifelong weight problems and have noticed that with me there are situational triggers that lead to bad choices. Sometimes the timing is immediate and other times there may be…
  • Tilapia is an inexpensive and tasty fish. I like to chop up a few cloves of garlic, seed and devein 1 jalapeño pepper (keep the veins if you like it hot), chop some cilantro, brush it with olive oil, and put all of it in a hot grill pan on my gas grill. It only takes a few minutes to cook and the taste is really bold. I…

  • Just keep at it. If you slip, get back on and ride. It is possible.
  • As I gained weight my wife told me my snoring was unbearable. I was also suffering from sleep apnea. As I have begun to lose significant weight my snoring and apnea have all but disappeared. My doctor indicated that all the excess weight puts pressure everywhere.
  • Done! Thanks for the comment.
  • Weighed in today down another 10 lbs. I shouting loud and proud! This site is a great place to learn and find support from others who struggle food issues. Thanks to everyone.
  • Make sense to me. Great job with the site.
  • The normal perception of healthy eating implies little or no taste. I like to cook and have no plans to quit just because I am eating better. Here is one of the ways I do vegetables: At the grocery I buy 1 or 2 fish filets, some fresh green beans, broccoli, cherry tomatoes, peppers, basil, rosemary, or other herbs. The…
  • This is the most important part of your post. Lord knows I have tried hard to change the past. I've made some really giant mistakes in my life and continuous mistakes related to food. I can't change yesterday and you can't either. Don't beat yourself up over it. Let it go and have a great day today. We all struggle with…
  • Its been a great week so far. We closed on a house purchase (patiently waiting on sellers to get it together for 3+ months), reconnected via email with a very large friend (600+ lbs) and tip toed into the weight loss topic to talk about what I am doing only to find that he has lost 87 lbs over the last 4 months, and I…
  • I agree with your view of Getting Your Life Back. I have the same sentiment and entered it on my profile that way. I've allowed myself to gain so much weight over the last 15 years that I have been unable to participate in regular activities. I want to live fully! Keep the faith, keep losing.
  • I weigh myself on Monday mornings. That is it unless I happen to visit my doctors office. Daily weighing is an overkill and can be discouraging because all of us vary 1-2 lbs depending on water, sodium intake, etc.

  • Hello all, I am a new member (mid April) and really enjoy the site. I am guessing that this post might generate a bit of controversy but here goes. I have been working a medically supervised liquid weight loss program since March 3 and have dropped 60 pounds (started at a modest 426 and am "all the way down" to 366 as of…
  • Don't be disappointed to find out that you are human like the rest of us. Its really hard to shake it off sometimes and not segue last nights bad choices into bad choices today. Have a little faith in yourself. We all understand and have been there, will be there again, we are humans!
  • Hi All, Here is an easy, tasty, and scramble or omelette I make: 1/2 cup of Lucerne Best of the Egg product 3 links of Jimmy Dean Turkey Sausage 1 tbsp.
