  • I find that my changes tend to help me eat less/better even when I take a day off. Thats the good news. I remind myself that one day off cannot be followed by multiple days off.
  • One of my favorites is turkey & spinach rollups I get the leanest turkey breast slices I can find Take a handful of fresh spinach and really small drizzle of roasted red pepper Italian dressing. Roll it up. They are really tasty and very low calorie, fat, etc. Quick, portable, tasty, and healthy.
  • I started March 3, 2008 and simply cannot believe that I've lost this much so quickly. I have tried to keep Tam's view...... the days will pass anyway, might as well work at losing no matter how long it takes. My loss averages 5 lbs weekly for the first 6 months but has slowed lately. I've begun eating a little more though…
  • As I recall alcohol has about 9 calories per gram though I don't recommend it.
  • I was at a Big & Fat clothing store and was checking out when the clerk began telling me about upcoming sales and asked me about calling to remind me of the sales. I told him not to take it personally but that I was agressively working at weight loss and planned to get to a place very soon where I never came into the…
  • I think the weirdest thing for me is that I saw one of my clients recently who I've not seen since before I lost 138 lbs. No one acted like they noticed any difference. No one said a word. Its simply not possible to miss it. Seven pant sizes, 5 shirts sizes. No one notices. It really weird. Others assume I got a Lap Band…
  • Congrats! Every pound gone is an accomplishment. Savor it and stick with you plan.
  • I am a Texan and have never heard of fry sauce.

  • Thank you AJCM
  • It is wonderful. I am down 8 pant sizes and 4 shirt sizes. I even have several pairs of shoes that are too big now. I never thought my feet were fat too. I now have a stack of receipts for the donations to charity. I kept one pair of the size 68 extra fat pants just to remind myself of how far I have come. They aren't…
  • Gas prices in southern Louisiana yesterday = $3.80 (I use premium), 3 1/2 later in Houston premium = $3.01 per gallon. Too bad I needed that $3.80/gal to get home.
  • Congratulations Princess. Happy Birthday:drinker:
  • I am unsure of the machines accuracy. Here is why. I do 60 minutes on the elliptical 6 days a week at and average 5.8 MPH pace. The machine says I burn 800 calories. My wristwatch monitor says I burn about 1,500 calories. The machine gets my weight as part of the exercise start up. My watch has my age, sex, current weight,…
  • My son's birthday was this past weekend and he wanted a chocolate cake with chocolate fudge icing. The quarter sheet cake weighed 10 lbs. (that translates to about 40 lbs on the backside) I had a two bit piece and it was just enough. That is a milestone.
  • I hope I get to place where jalapeno chips, fritos, chips and salsa don't taste good any more. For the moment I just remind myself that I simply can't eat them and never will be able to. Its not the end of the world.
  • Been there, done that, and finally stopped needing a seat belt extension recently. I was the worst offender. I have always hated eating out alone so I would order room service at whatever time I got to my hotel, usually 9:00 at night. If it was later I'd hit a drive in window. I now carry powdered shake mixes with me all…
  • I would say..... you should see my loose skin... but you probably wouldn't want to. 135 pounds in 7 months. As far as I am concerned its a good problem. Don't let it slow you down.
  • I feel as though I've turned into sort of a pickle expert. When I began my weight loss effort I was doing a very low calorie shake as my basic nutrition. The other food that passed my lips for 6 months was pickles. Mt. Olive makes some of the best pickles around, IMO. They offer a sugar free version of bread & butter…
  • You rock Shorerider. I am so happy to hear that you bought something inedible to reward your self for the effort. I have been too guilty of going out to eat my favorite high calorie food when celebrating. Lets keep subordinating food to life! Congrats again. TR
  • I need to lose another 45 lbs. Count me in!
  • Thanks for the info. I knew you'd know. As for the model I purchased I am sure that part of my choice is the habit of staying away from things that won't fit around my chest. I actually need to get over that because since I've dropped my weight to its current level I can actually buy clothes at any store. In fact this…
  • Banks, I have a calorie burn question for you. I am doing 1 hour on the elliptical 5-6 days weekly. The calorie burn is indicated at 780 for 1 hour. I am 52, 297 lbs. My heart rate runs about 115-125 during the workout. I recently purchased one of the fancy heart rate wristwatches that includes a calorie burn measurement.…
  • Seems like this thread is really about the love of beans. No bean compares to the mighty Pinto. Put two pounds in the crock pot at 10:00 PM. Add garlic, onion, pepper, toss in a few whole serrano's, and other spices. Cook all night. Wake to the most incredible scents in the morning. A bowl or two with cup of hot coffee.…
  • Beans are the best...... But never in chili. It's a Texas thing.
  • Hey naniu, I looked at your profile and you have a similar reason to mine for losing weight: Get your life back. I thinks its a great reason. Best of luck to everyone. I continue the effort... as we all do. TR
  • Way to go Tam. Congrats! Go out to a great restaurant and eat some lobster and broccoli, no butter!
  • I've had a few cortisone shots and they work pretty well but are, as someone mentioned, a mask and do nothing positive to your cartilage. Another alternative is a product called SynVisc (sp?). It is a derived from some kind of bird and is injected in a series into your knee. The product worked pretty well for me early in…
  • I've had osteoarthritis in the extreme. I had my right hip replaced 2 1/2 years ago and my left knee replaced almost 1 year ago. There was a time in my life when I ran 6 miles on the weekdays and longer weekend runs. I also played LOTS of tennis. At this point in my life I don't know if I will ever be able to run again and…
  • Today's weigh-in was a milestone for me. I finally cracked below 300 lbs. Not by much but it has been a goal I've been looking for. 299.5. Oh happy day!
