More like fiber is good for your insides (keeping things moving along, if you know what i mean) so an apple a day isn't bad for you at all, lol. You know i asked my doc about the fruit thing too because i have to keep my daily sugar intake low and she said that while i should keep fruits to a MODERATE intake because i…

I have insulin issues so take my advice w/ a grain of salt ... of the fruits/berries you mentioned i'd cut back on the grapes because those are REALLY sugary. No reason to cut a bannana or apple from your diet, that's great fiber and potassioum in there - you have to eat SOMETHING after all. Make sure to get plenty of…

Thanks for fixing that for me :)

Lol, i like mine fine ;p

lol, reverse cowgirl? somehow i doubt it ... though you are technically correct, props to you.

see, that's your problem right there - you should have been on top. that way he'd have something different to comment about. No need to thank me for the advice :)

Every time i see a Bro doing curls in the squat rack i die a little bit inside. So sad. Personally, i like free-weights and i like having my own set (cheap on Craigslist!) and not have to compete w/ anyone for space or equipment.

dude, you should have married a goth. shopping is easy, you just buy whatever comes in black.

Danzig's "she rides" is a good one for lifting weights (keeps you slow and controlled). for cardio just about anything by Amon Amarth (i like "twilight of the thunder gods")
-
yeah, isn't it horrible when a woman likes something about her body? it's just terrible. /sarcasm

Maintain and improve. for me maintenance is always harder than reaching goals. i'm going to start lifting heavier i guess and concentrate less on the scale.

Pink shoes from Modcloth Swiss Apple tea from Tea Forte Fluttershy (MLP) from Hasbro and a strawberry bracelet by Angelic Pretty from Mbok

Just about anything by Amon Amarth. "Twilight of the Thundergods" or "Death in Fire" maybe? Really there isn't anything like the thought of fighting ice-giants to motivate you to lift harder or run longer. Maybe it's just me though.

lol, that's my husband's favorite infomercial ... can''t imagine why! ;p

i've been eating lots of hardboiled eggwhites. i'm sick of them too ... but with a wee bit of mustard and wrapped in a lettuce-leaf, not so bad. You get a LOT of protien w/ egg-whites.

Pilates floorwork - I started with "Pilates for Dummies" a good intro video. Do only the floor exercises if you have back or knee/ankle issues, strengthening your core will help support your back and soon you'll be able to do more advanced stuff.

Thanks guys, and my arms thank you also :) Annabel - it's a workout video from Jillian Michaels (of biggest loser fame), 20 min + of circuit training.

Well the first session was "free" and the second one i sort of wanted to have a good attitude and give them a chance etc. But by the time i cooled off and started my walk to go home i started feeling unhappier and unhappier w/ my experience. I was REALLY clear before the session so i really don't think telling them again…

I had 2 training sessions at a 24-hour fitness in chicago. I was REALLY clear about wanting to use the free-weights and learning how to squat properly ... did they address any of that? hell no. I never went back after the second session. Now I'm working out at home and doing fine thanks. Why the hell would they ask about…

Learn to love it :) Means you are working hard (assuming this is not injury pain of course). Honestly, other than taking a rest-day or working something that DOESN'T hurt, I have no idea.

oh, i second looking on Craigslist for cheap dumbbells! you might also have a used sports equipment store in your area, check it out! (my husband found some dumbbells in the alley once, lol, we cleaned them up and now they are a part of our "ghetto" home gym)

I wait 5 minutes for heavy weights (i've heard this is on the long side for recovery, but it works for me), but it also depends on the exercise. You could probably use a heavier weight for something like a single-arm row or chest press by the way :)

yeah, i count everything. I need to stay on top of my sugars, and fruits and veggies still have sugar ... i'm certainly not going to deprive myself of fruits and veggies, but i want to keep my sugars reasonable so i like to know where i'm at. If I eat a banana, an apple and a few baby carrots *boom* there goes my sugar…

Hmmm, my reasoning for not focusing on curls was that doing other complex moves will also work the biceps (and triceps, etc) without focusing and isolating them. The single-arm dumbbell snatch for example works a lot of parts (just as an example) , or an (assisted) chin-up, instead of focusing on just one area like a bicep…

huh, anybody else here lifting???
-
any help here?
-
i've been taking about 5 minutes between sets - which is probably a little long? That's about how long it takes for me to recover (assuming i don't want to go to failure on a regular basis!)

that's because gaining muscle goes a LONG way, people keep touting cardio as such a great way to lose fat but strength training is better in the long run. you can keep on doing your cardio but you should really try lifting more heavy weights.
