Marney: I, too, am sorry to hear about your friend. Half the battle for your emotional eating is recognizing it. I know it is difficult right now, but laughter is the best medicine to overcome emotional eating and to fight the depression you are probably feeling. Stick in a funny DVD or watch a favorite comedy. Lose…

To me logging is the most important thing! Every bite. Especially when you have a bad day! To see how much we eat is an eye-opener. If you don't log on days that you go way over your goal, you eventually go over your goal and feel that it's okay because it isn't in writing. Good intentions don't help you lose weight. Hard…

Yeah, gotta let it go! You can do this:* Realistic goals. * Don't get discouraged. * Keep moving. * Log every bite, every day! It will start to come off and you will feel marvelous before you know it!

Anything we can do to help, Mary? I know I had a friend who would every once in a while remind me to do my resistance bands via a private message. She always made a joke of it. When she did, I would do them. She hasn't been on MFP for a few months. I have gotten really bad about it. Sometimes we can actually help.

Gayle, didn't mean for you to lower your goals. After what you posted, I'm thinking of raising mine. Actually, I think I'll keep it the same and then decide when I think it is time to quit. I'll know. Congrats on the 2-size loss. I agree with the confidence part, too. Has anyone else found that they are also more conscious…

Gayle: Thanks for the chart. Well, I think according to that, my original goal of 130 might be right. Especially if 15 pounds of that is skin and boobs! It is funny that I have lost my butt and hips the fastest -- I was ALWAYS a bubble butt even when I was thin. And my boobs, but that is much more back fat I think as my…

I'm only 5'1". My ideal weight most of my life has been 115. With that said, they say you have about 10 pounds of loose skin after losing 100 pounds. I probably will. Also, my cup size is much larger than before and so far isn't getting smaller. They say a 38F (which I am right now) weighs about 5 pounds. So, my original…

Yeah, but I've been here a lot longer than you, Gayle. And I started higher, so you are doing great!

Wow, Marney, congratulations half way and out of obese range! That is my next goal but think I just strayed further from it. I'm not weighing today, ladies. I was already two over my lowest 159 (158 puts me at "overweight"). By today, I'm probably at 165. Don't want to know. I'll wait until Sunday. Give me two days…

Then I admire you even more! You didn't look even 220. Congrats on your loss. Hope you enjoyed Thanksgiving!

Sevendust912: You obviously have not looked at the pictures of MrM27. He only had 18 pounds he wanted to shed and he is far from obese.

You are an inspiration. I still have about 40-45 lbs. to go, but cardiologist has already started cutting back some of my meds, too. I'm so happy for you and hope to follow in your footsteps!

Sorry about the grammatical, typos. I was in a hurry and didn't proof-read. Hope you got the idea though. Save the meals with the calories number first, restaurant, and description. Then transfer to a take-with you list in order from lowest calorie to highest.

Gayle: Many prisons are offering green job training. They do so within their facilities as part of their own recycling, composting, etc. programs. At the local level, our inmates only stay an average of 13 days (no longer than a year) and job training is not offered. We are looking into developing a hydroponics garden…

I agree with getting your thyroid checked. With what you have left to lose, you should be able to lose 1-2 pounds a week still. Also, it would help if we saw how much you are eating by opening your diary. I bet you need to get a little better handle on that. Maybe your measurements are off. I was doing about 90-120 minutes…

I work for County government as a sustainability coordinator. The symposium was to discuss ways to make correctional facilities greener. We have done a lot at our facilities and the Sheriff's Department entered this competition based on the green initiatives we have taken. Was interesting meeting with other governmental…

Got back from my weekend business/pleasure trip to D.C. Overate and scale showed it this a.m. was up 2 pounds. Oh well. It was worth it! We won the award at the Green Symposium for our category. I only had the symposium on Friday afternoon, so the rest of the time until I left last night was all mine! Marney, can you get…

The Producers. When it was done we looked around and we were the only people even left in the theater!

Intensity varies according to fitness. At one time 2 mph for 10 minutes was intense for me. Now, I walk 4 mph for 30-45 and barely breathe heavy. The fat burning zone for your heart-rate is really not very high. You are right about that. If you want to figure it for yourself, take 220 - your age. Then multiply by 60% and…

Thanks, Gayle, for inviting me to take part in your challenge. It is a little late for me to say a 20 pound loss by January 1, but I will try for 5 pounds. (I looked back and see that you started…

I was not only not losing, but I would have huge water weight gains although I was sticking to 1200 calories a day and exercising . I backed off on cardio. I love cardio and was doing up to 2 hours a day. I have been reading so much about excess cortisol from over exercise. So, I cut back to 45 minutes a day, made not…

I mostly walk. Outdoors in nice weather. Indoor track when not (or when I want a really fast walk). I also do the stationary bike. I have definitely toned my legs (I am also trying to lose weight, but that doesn't seem to be your issue). If you do want to lose weight, you will need a calorie deficit. With all that said,…

As said time and again on this site, do what works for you. Me? I'm logging.

They figure your calorie limit by your activity level. They do not take into consideration the amount you exercise as they suggest you eat those back. With that said, I don't eat back my exercise calories and I try to stick around 1200 calories a day. I used to exercise more, but have cut back to 45-60 minutes of cardio 6…

You look great! Keep us posted!

Funny to see this post! Just had this conversation with a co-worker. I have lived in central Ohio since 1983. I still haven't had a decent piece of pizza unless I go back to western PA. Now, everyone will say, "then you haven't tried...." Yes, I have. Still don't love it. The moral to the story is: Never leave your…

I'd start slowly and you will know. I don't think it will matter how many days a week as much as how long. Why not start with just some stretches, maybe a walk or put on some music and dance. Limit it to maybe 20 minutes. If you feel good enough, some weights if that is what you do. You'll know when you can get back to a…

An acquaintance at the gym yelled over to me the other day, "Hey, you need to go shopping and buy some clothes that fit!" She's right! Also realized how easily I can pick up something from the ground while walking. Used to have to stop and really work at bending over.

Clothing manufacturers also can have huge differences in the same country. It all depends on their average customer. If a company tends to attract larger customers, the numbers on their sizes are lower. Like Noel said, "vanity sizes."
