I used the patch, I found it helpful, but kinda like quiting twice. Once the habit of smoking, and second the drug nictoine, but it worked so I can't complain. Good luck with it, it is worth it.

I know what you may want to try, MFP? Set a goal and stick to it. See if that works.

Why don't you set a goal with the help of the MFP tools and see if you can stick to it? Log your food and exercise. Do it for a while and see what happens.

Can you do a pull up? The other advise I'd give you is faster is better and don't look down until youv'e reacched the top of the wall and as noted earlier use your legs.

Why not use the MFP for your goals? This is a pet peeve of mine but why not try it this way for a while? If it doesn't work for you can try something else, but try it for a while and see...

I'd second the Y recommendation. that's where I started back as an adult swimmer. I'd also recommend that after you got the basic down join a masters group. great for work outs, clinic, coaching and such. http://www.usms.org/placswim/

Use the MFP goals and sick to it, why do so many people try and do it there own way? Log everything, see how that works for a while?

You can't really 'spot reduce. Set a goal log in as best you can and stick to it!

Keep logging and posting, and write it all down and follow the MPF goals and you should see results.

Why not just set a MFP Goal and try and follow it? Your setting yourself up for failure, it does not work because your doing it wrong. I usually don't eat back all of my exercise calories because I think MFP is optimistic with its calculations.

I'd maybe try and get some outside help (EAP, Student counselor) if it's as you describe. If your just being dramatic then just keep plugging away, set your MFP goals and keep it up, good luck.

Set your goals MFP and log in and log all your food.as best you can. You are doing great at 14 Pound down, many people struggle and don't loose any weight... Also focus on fitness and non scale victories NSV.
