  • Most fast food chains have the calories available online somewhere so look it up before you go and put it in your diary so you can plan the rest of your day around it. I do this when I'm going to eat out somewhere and it makes things so much easier! It's much better to satisfy your cravings in a controlled way as you won't…
  • It seems wasteful to me to only use the whites. (unless I'm making a pavlova or something, in which case I'll end up saving the yolks and adding them to scrambled eggs or something later). + as others have said, there are a lot of nutrients in the yolks, and it makes things a nice colour!
  • Maybe do a topic on the recipe forum for low carb cake recipes? Have you heard of chocolate covered Katie? Her blog specialises in 'healthy desserts'. I'm not sure about carb levels, but here is a link to her high-protein and gluten-free recipes (which I'm assuming will be lower carb). The red velvet brownies look really…
  • Yes, I had a stall for a couple of weeks after adding exercise, then I had a bigger than usual drop and it went back to normal.
  • Put it behind you and start logging again. Set your goal to lose 0.5lbs a week as you don't have much to lose - it shouldn't be too much of a reduction.
  • At the moment it is self-esteem and health. When I get to my goal (the higher end of healthy bmi for my height) if I continue to lose it will be more vanity I guess. Planning to see how I feel when I eventually get there.
  • Fifthed! I'm on the final week now - did a 28minute run today, another one on wed and 30mins on friday! It's taken me 9 weeks (inlcuding this one) and I could barely do the first day at the beginning! If you do it jog slowly - the advice from the creators is something like 'if you could jog slower you're going too fast'…
  • Personally I pretty much always drink water while eating, but I guess it's a personal preference. Anyway, on to the most important point: hooray for kittens! Anyone who posts kittens in exchange for responses gets my vote.
  • Hi, obese vegetarian here... If you want to go veggie for yourself then go for it, you can get enough protein it just requires a little research and effort. If you want to go veggie because you think it's a weight loss diet then don't bother - losing weight requires eating less calories and whether or not meat/fish are in…
  • I work out a lot and don't go to the gym so I should be able to help! I've taken up jogging and I really enjoy it! Free, no equipment and fresh air! As you're in the military your fitness levels must be miles better than mine, but I started out with the c25k programme to get into jogging (walking/jogging intervals) Another…
  • It depends on genes and how quickly you lose from what I've read. I'm using a firming butter once a day to try to pre-empt it, but honestly that's more for my mind really (+ I have dry skin and kp so it helps with that anyway) - there's no evidence that any creams/skincare regimes etc actually work!
  • My average for my first month was 4lbs, next 2 months was about 3lbs, but I have a LOT to lose! It's beginning to slow to 2-3 now, so I think I'll be averaging 2 lbs a week soon - which is what I wanted after an initial faster loss.
  • I know how you feel. I lost 35lbs (1/4 of the 140lbs I plan to lose) and retook front, back and sides photos and they look pretty much the same, EXCEPT the photos of me wearing a dress that's too small. It's still too small, but there is a huge visible difference in how it fits - In the original photos it's tight and the…
  • I don't really know anything about the plan, so can't help much, but I did a youtube search and found they have a channel, so maybe you can try some of the stuff on there and see how you get on with it? http://www.youtube.com/user/ToneItUpcom
  • I actually opened a photobucket account just to post this screenshot! :ohwell: ETA: Looks like the forum's been cleaned up already. Those moderators are quick!
  • Just found this... seems appropriate.
  • I think you have to resize on photobucket or wherever your photo is. (So nearly pressed report post by accident instead of quote because I've gotten so used to reporting today!)
  • Hold on, just jotting down a phone number from another post... :embarassed:
  • This. I'm freelancing from home at the moment so other than exercise I spend my days on my laptop. I've set my activity level as sedentary and then I log exercise on top.
  • As you're already at a healthy weight, losing weight will (and should be) slow. Maybe add some strength training to your routine - this should help you tone and lose fat. Have you taken measurements? At your size with lots of working out you may find your weight doesn't change much but your measurements do.
  • Someone asked a similar question yesterday - hopefully you'll find some useful ideas on this thread: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1341658-tips-for-staying-stocked-with-healthy-foods-on-a-budget
  • Macros is short for macro-nutrients. There are three - carbohydrates, proteins and fats. All food is composed of these three things. Micro-nutrients are vitamins and minerals etc. Here is a link for a more in depth explanation: http://www.foodpyramid.com/6-essential-nutrients/
  • Have a look on youtube for workouts. There are a lot you can do at home with no equipment. I've found the BeFit channel quite useful.
  • I weigh in once a week (although I sneak a peak most days I only record it on Mondays) I measure once a month - I do this pretty thoroughly - 17 different measurements! (I like making graphs/charts for everything!) I take photos once I've reached a mini goal - I took a series of photos (Front, back, sides, breathing in and…
  • As someone else mentioned, growing fruits and vegetables yourself is a real money saver, if you are able to. In the short term, try to buy fruits and vegetables when they are in season as they will be cheaper and better quality. I'm not sure where you live, but this is a UK site for fruit/veg in season…
  • You haven't given your starting weight/height? In the last three months I've lost 2.5st/35lbs, but I started out at 20st/280lbs and I'm a 5'4'' female so it was achievable without being crazy restrictive. If 15lbs is all you need to lose and you're close to your goal weight losing 15lbs in 2 months would probably be…
  • I weigh everything, although I'm not in the US so I don't use the cups method anyway. It's more precise and with cups you could squeeze stuff into it (or not) or if the veggies are smaller then more will fit into a cup so 'one cup' will vary a lot.
  • Me three! (well, not meat, but the carbs/veggies bit! Also I've down massively on butter - I cook with it and have sandwiches/toast fairly often. I realised that 5g is enough to fry some veg/eggs and I don't bother buttering my bread anymore! Also with cheese I've gone from mature to extra mature cheddar and use a lot less…
  • I'm also a vegetarian who eats a lot of carbs. There are a couple of things I've seen a lot online that I'm planning on trying this week, which both go with the italian theme of the dishes you mentioned. Cauliflower pizza base: http://www.rachaelrayshow.com/recipe/17239_Cauliflower_Pizza_Dough/index.html Courgette/Zucchini…
  • I think it's up to you really - if you feel it's exercise for you then of course add it! I walk to most places - depending on where I'm going a 45min/hour walk has become as routine as getting a bus for me so I don't bother logging it! (but I take that into account in my activity level anyway)
