Sorry, you can't actually spot reduce. Where you burn fat is completely related to your genetics.

Two servings of instant oatmeal + scoop of whey protein.

Welcome to MFP! This site has a lot to offer. Make sure to take advantage of it all and embrace the journey ahead of you.

I feel that this shows us as being the country with the greatest rate of obesity that we need to pay more (if not careful) attention to what we put in our bodies. I feel a little disgusted with her "marketing" her diabetes with this pharmaceutical company as well.

@brighteyes 9, very pretty. :)

Working out for 30-45 minutes in the morning Mon-Fri before work seems like the best deal. After calculating how long your morning prep and commute takes, then find out the best time for you. Also try to get up and walk around once every hour or two. Sitting down for nearly nine hours isn't good for the blood circulation…

Is that your net amount of calories (after logging exercise)? Your body could be going into survival mode if you aren't eating your exercise calories. Also please do not believe people that tell you that muscle weighs more than fat. It doesn't. Muscle is only more dense and more packed together than fat so a 250 pound…

My honest opinion, your mother is just upset that she lacks the willpower to do what you have set out to achieve. In other words: she's jealous. Keep up the great work OP, you deserve credit where it is due.

A daily multi-vitamin is a must. Since you are consuming less calories, your body is more likely to not get all the nutrients that it needs. So consuming a multi-vitamin once a day will help offset this. As far as whey protein goes, I use Body Fortress Super Advanced Whey Protein from Wal-Mart ($15 per 2lb jug). Whey…

Weigh yourself once a week early in the morning (Monday is my preference) before you eat or drink fluids and after you have used the bathroom. No need to weigh yourself after you workout, because you've already (hopefully) eaten and have consumed a ton of fluids.

Very close. I'm 19, 20 next month.

Feel free to add me as well. I've already lost a lot of weight, and hoping to help others do the same.

I don't mind having another friend in my MFP repertoire, and I've gone so far and can't stop now.
-
I don't drink because I'm not 21...yet. :/

Thank you all for the kind words! I wish each and every one of you luck on your journeys as well.

How many calories are you eating a day?
-
If you eat 1800 calories a day and burn 600 a day then there's your net 1200. 600 calories burned x 7 days = 4200 calories burned. There's over a pound lost a week.
-
You aren't eating enough calories, you should try to net at least 1200 a day.
-
If you are only eating a max 1200 calories a day and burning 1000 then your body is only getting 200 a day. Your body is in starvation mode and is going to hold on to what you consume. You should be eating 2,000 a day if you burn what you say.
-
Cool pointless rant, bro.
-
I only try to take one day off no less than every two weeks. Taking too many off in a short period will make you lax and eventually lazy.
-
You will lose lean muscle if you work out before eating, I know because for the first 3 months of my weight loss I did this. Eating beforehand gives you way more energy to get through your workouts.
-
Get the Xbox with Kinect. The Kinect tracks full body movement which can track a better range of exercises as opposed to the Wii where you just wave a controller. The Wii has more games atm but give Kinect a little time as they are developing fitness games based on UFC and more.

Bring a towel...never want to leave the equipment sweaty for the next person to use.

Drink a lot of water and chew some gum as well, works every time.

I like to have 2 slices of a thick-cut turkey bacon that I get from Sam's Club and a fried egg. I use cooking spray to avoid the extra fat. It ends up being 170 calories, 10.5g of fat and 16g of protein. Tastes really great too.

Great! Make sure to keep us updated in the next two weeks with your progress.
