I don't know how long you have been squatting, but I think you can count on it getting better fairly soon. I helped my partner start SL a couple months ago and it took several weeks, but his flexibility has gradually improved and his form is much, much better now. He is resistant to any "helping" exercises or stretching,…

Squats today 205 3x5. These felt really good but, uh, heavy. We will be moving our weights upstairs tomorrow where the new power cage is.... Thank god. Doing these without a safety bar is just dumb. OHP @90lbs 5,5,4,3,2. Haha. Should hav gone up with the fractionals. Deadlift - still at a Deload because of lingering back…

I always make my own vinigarettes or ranch. Full fat dressings go a long way, IME. For those of you who like hidden valley mix, you might try a homemade mix. Cheaper and less garbage. I have a mix of dried herbs and spices in a jar on my oil/vinigar shelf. When I want some ranch I mix a little bit of that with some mayo…

I just saw this in recent posts and I wanted to say hey, I've been there and thanks for being brave enough t post about it here. I have been mostly in-recovery from the kind of b/p you're talking about for about 12 years. I did what you describe several times a week for years prior to that. However, alarmingly to me, I…

So yesterday was my birthday and I decided that after my birthday I would re-commit to logging. My lifting has been strong and easy and I am assuming thats because I am eating at a big surplus. Not gaining weight, but they upped my synthroid so I am hoping that if I cut some calories I will start losing again. Anyway!…

Haven't logged or posted in awhile. Had a crazy week with three overnights so I haven't done a lot of workouts. The good news is that my forced sleep-deprived rest seems to have finally fixed The Weird Pain. I am happy to report that my squats are 100% pain free. Its hard not to want to throw 20 or 30 extra pounds on there…

Hi amethyst that all makes a lot of sense. I do a lot of cardio though. I run an average of 40 minutes a day, sometimes more, and bike and walk a lot that I don't record. I am very active. That is why I was originally dx with hashis - my doctor *believed me* that I was this active, ate well and yet was suddenly gaining…

Yay for chin-ups! Tht must have felt *so good*!!! I couldn't even do one back in 5th or 4th grade when they did the "presidential fitness tests". It's totally my ultimate goal but I'd probably have to lose a lot of weight. Today for me 4 miles slow run Squats - many warmup sets then 180 3x5. OHP - 85lb 5x5. Super happy…

I'm not sure what the deal was today. Squats were fine 170 3x5. Then Bench press.... now, I did 125 last time 5, 5, 5, 4, 4. This time I managed 5, 4, 1, 0, 0. :/ WTH? My kids wanted to give me stuff so I abandoned the rows. Then went on a fast 8.5 mile hike. Alone :D

You guys are all so awesome. I count this particular board here as one the most helpful and supportive places I have ever visited on the interwebs. :D Warm and fuzzies galore. Turns out my TSH did spike over the last four months - I just got my newest thyroid panel. It was not in my head!!

what is this pushup challenge Krok? I wanna play! For people who do pushups on an incline at home: what do you use?

Back on the SL schedule Squats - warmups galore. I do think sumo air squats are helping me with The Weird Pain. So I did a bunch of those then 45 2x5, 95 1x5, 135 2x5 and then 165 3x5. These are feeling easy I have stayed here so long. But I am going to stay for another week or two to make sure I won't just re-injure…

Plain greek Yogurt (full fat!) topped with blackstrap molasses. YUM

Thanks everyone. I took a MFP break for a couple days I was so discouraged. Its good to know I am not alone. Something feels wrong so I do think a Synthroid bump up will help. If I have to eat less than I do with the activity I do, it just won't work. I have been eying the fitbit. I just I'll just do it. Part of being…

I hear your. 5 years of breastfeeding over here with major weight gain/loss. Do you wear an Enell? i wear the Enell I wore when I was bigger for weights and the tight-*kitten* one for running. Nothing else works for me really and I have tried them *all*. ETA: a lot of the other big-saggy-boob sports bras I have do have…

Some people are naturally flexible tho - I wonder about that with myself and being new to heavy squats. I go ATG naturally - in fact ATG pause squats are my fave - and I wonder if thats just too much for my body since I haven;t been training long. Like, a couple times yoga instructors have mentioned to me that people who…

Great, long, late workout for me. Alone in the basement with podcasts :D Still off the SL schedule, but that's okay. Squats - warm ups galore. 20 or 30 sumo air squats. Some stretching. then 45 2x5, 65 2x5, 95 1x5, 135 1x5 and finally 165 3x5. I actually meant to do 160. I am terrible at barbell math. Anyway, it felt…

I run 5 or 6 days a week. I have been a (very slow) runner for a long time though - over 10 years. When I was starting out, or when I was heavier or when I start after a long break, I run much less frequently. Every other day or so. At this point, slow 30-40 minute runs do not feel like hard work for my body so I think its…

I was non-monogamous the first 2 or 3 years of my current (going on 13 year) relationship and have been for last three+ years. We are much happier this way. Although, holy **** the drama sometimes.

I totally had that pain for a couple weeks. I am an idiot and worked through it and it went away. Rolling it out before and after would have probably helped.

@Fit - you are my hero too! Lots of heros on this board actually, but feeling inspired by your workout! @ katro - what an interesting workout - are you following a program? Another weird injury testing workout for me. I did all my squat warm-ups sumo style tin the hopes of helping with the Weird Pain. I don't think its…

Fitness/Wellness Goals Bench 135 (this would be a 1 or 2 RM) Figure out what the hell is going on with my leg injury and find a workable solution Dead-lift 250 (was 235) OHP 90 (am 80) Add more core work after runs Add one long run (5 miles or more) every week Continue to get better about logging my food Lose some…

okay. Maybe someone can explain the ins and outs of all this foam rolling business. There is a foam roller at my gym but I can't imagine rolling out my inner thighs there in the weight room....
-
That is the best fitness gif ever. Haha! @Calliope610 – I am considering switching to leg machines for awhile if I can't get this tendon injury better by de-loading. I think it will feel weird to go back to that room in the gym! Also, is this advice from a specialist or your regular doc? I have a great family practice doc,…

I think this must be a ploy to get more fat for butter-making since butter consumption is on the rise. Only partly kidding.... My kids don't drink (other mammals) milk and never have. It caused quite a stir at school when they refused to drink it and I had to pretend they were allergic so that they would stop serving it to…

wow thank you! Glad to hear this is a commonish concern. I would love to throw in some front squats - it gives whatever tendon in my thigh that bugs me a break. Lighter speed squats sound super fun too. I can't find a good way to calculate my 1rm from 5x5 - from just 5 its 204 (!!) so that would be about 130 for speed…

I was pretty healthy and quite active at my heaviest - but my A1C was borderline and my BP was creeping up. PCOS symptoms also. I am only 40 some odd pounds down from that and still "obese" or whatever, but my labs are better and my BP is back down to where its been my whole life (really low). The PCOS symptoms are…

I kinda hate it. I feel like the more water I drink the thirstier I get. Also, I hate peeing all the time. I use the ticker here to track water because otherwise I just don't drink much at all and then find myself desperately thirsty, chugging glasses before bed and having to pee in the middle of the night. I find it…

This is so interesting/unfortunate. I don't have a HRM but I take my pulse a lot when exercising (I work in heathcare and have a good sense of what it is after a few seconds) and its always pretty low - 120 or so, and goes down fast. My resting HR is about 50 which is also fairly low - is that true for the rest of you as…
