  • I think part of the trouble for me is that I feel - emotionally - that I SHOULD be able to lose 1lb a week. And coming to terms with the fact that .5 lb is probably going to be the more realistic - and rational - outcome is quite hard. But reading through your comments is certainly very helpful - I think I'm going to set…
  • Quite a few posts came in while I was writing my reply! Yep - I reckon the cat could easily cope with a 4lbs a month loss! I do a bit of weight training - I was reading a post about how that should help - but I don't really have a clue what I'm doing to be honest - I aim for 3 sets of 8 at a given weight and then…
  • Thanks for your input guys ... I would LOVE to be able to lose a 1lb a week and feel that I *should* be doing it, but it's just not happening for me unfortunately! My calorie goal is 1280 net, and I exercise 3-4 times a week with a mix of cardio and weights - I eat back the exercise calories becuase I'm absolutely starving…
  • Well I did last week's challenge and didn't lose anything! But I'm still up for trying again this week :-) start weight: 160
  • Yeah, booze is my dowfall too ... I drink maybe half a bottle of wine quite often and that's 250 calories. Even if I allow for it in my calories that never works because after I've had a drink, I always get hungry and start nibbling those calories back!! I would never drink a high sugar soda with 250 calories in it but I…
  • Interesting thread. I guess this is really going to depend on your height and weight distribution. I've put on 20lbs, mainly on my hips and thighs, and I'm still fitting into the same jeans I wore when I was 140lbs. However they are very tight and DO NOT look anywhere near as good as they did when I was thinner. When I was…
  • Interesting question. I'm on 1280 net with a target of 250 in exercise every day. So I'm aiming to eat 1530 calories a day for a one lb a week weight loss. Finding it tough to stick to that though. I was absolutely starving last night and had to have a banana and a piece of toast before I went to bed ...
  • I'm shooting for 140-145 too. I was that weight 2 years ago (when I was 43!) and my face looked fine, in fact my face has stayed the same even though I've gained 20lbs!! It just depends on your frame (I'm quite small-boned - 6 inch wrist) and where you carry the weight (All of mine is on my hips and thighs!!). I suppose…
  • For me, it's upper body first and hips and legs last :-( Fluctuations don't show in my face - it's not somewhere I show any weight ... I think there are lots of individual differences
  • haha - I'll have a go at this too! SW - 10 April 2011 - 158 lbs FW - 17 April 2011 - ???? Total lost - ??????
  • I'm that height and used to be 145 and my habits at that weight were: i) run 5k 3-4 times a week plus two strength-training sessions .. ii) no alcohol or tea/coffee. I would only drink green tea, water and diet soda iii) daily calorie intake around 1700 Well over the last 18 months or so I gradually stopped doing all that…

  • For me I gain about two pounds for a few days before and then that seems to disappear about 5 days after I start. So I try not to worry about weight fluctuations during that week. I do get quite bad PMT as well, which often leads to a chocolate bar or a few glasses of wine, and on the first day I'm often exhausted and it's…
  • I have a friend who is 5ft 8 and 125 and she's a stunner! It is the low end of the BMI but she can take it and looks well and healthy on it. She's very sporty and takes great care of herself ... she's my role model! So I agree, I think you should just go for it and see if it suits you too. Congrats on the amazing loss so…

  • Yeah, I know this problem too well. I guess whether you can get to your goal depends on whether you're wide boned in that area or just carrying your weight there. I have a friend who is 5ft 9 and a size 4 and she weighs 125 lbs and is very slim and perfectly proportioned. She doesn't look ill or anorexic either, just…
  • Good joke! Though I agree with the general point here - for me it's not the drinking that puts my calories up, but the chips and other snacks that suddenly become irresistible after a few glasses :drinker: :drinker:
  • Me too!! I'm 5ft 8 and when I was 140 I still had a 'curvy' booty and thighs! I'm 158 now and a 'normal' BMI, but I have a really skinny torso and thin arms with a big fat bum and legs - so I think I would be the kind of person who would have to get into the 120s to be proportionate all over - either that or lipo!…
