I normally just keep mine in the pocket of my shorts, but I might change that since the last time I was on the elliptical machine, the cord somehow caught on one of the handgrips and yanked my headphones off. Of course this happened after 56 minutes when I was exhausted, so it nearly made me fall over. I think I'll start…

I weigh myself most days, but it's mostly just out of curiosity since it's easy to make it fluctuate. I only update my MFP ticker once a week or so.

Man, I don't know about your family, but my grandfather died (in poor health) three years ago and my grandmother is about 4'10" in both height and width and goes to the hospital for health-related reasons about once a month. And I'm only 30, it's not like they're ancient. I think my in-laws have it down, though. My wife's…

I also fall into the "My day is ruined so may as well eat whatever" trap. Like today, I knew I had a birthday party where I was going to be pigging out on pizza and booze (and sure enough, I put down like 1,800 calories during the party alone), so while out at the mall earlier, I also stopped at Burgerville for lunch,…

I use the Facebook Purity add-on to automatically block all shared links, shared pictures, uploaded pictures, whatever, from people who endlessly spam tons of crap into my news feed every day. Installing that add-on made my life drastically better. Suddenly all I see on Facebook are the actual status updates posted by my…

This is exactly what motivates me to do cardio every day.

Yeah, I've made this mistake myself. I've decided I need to replace my size 36 jeans, gone to the store, bought a new pair of size 36 jeans in the same cut, taken them home without trying them on (since, again, same size, brand, and cut as my old ones), and had them be unbearably tight and impossible to put on. I have…

Mine wasn't a public thing, but just sort of the "turning point" where I decided I had to lose weight. Basically, it was the realization that I'd subconsciously started putting my socks on first, and then my pants, because my stomach was too big for me to reach down and put on socks while also already wearing my jeans.…

I'd agree completely with this. I don't add anything to my water counter that isn't actually a cup of plain water, but I also don't drink tea or coffee. I've seen several posts on this forum made by people who count literally any liquid as part of their 8 cups of water, including Coke, milk, beer, whatever. I've had enough…

My current jeans have a 36" waist, and it was 38" for a while. My "motivational clothing" isn't a pair of jeans, but rather a kilt that I've had for several years. It was sized when I was like 20 and had a 32" waist. I haven't been able to wear it due to the size for like 7 years, but I've never gotten rid of it (mostly…

Agreed with this. My first week of doing really heavy cardio, I actually went up three pounds in four days, despite eating better, burning thousands of calories in the gym every day, and about doubling my water consumption. I kept at it though and my body eventually acclimated and started dropping pounds.

At least 60 minutes a day, ~5 days a week. Sometimes I skip a day if I'm feeling particularly crappy, or I might do more than usual (or do 30-60 minutes on an "off" day) if I've been eating poorly. Just killed 1300 calories on the elliptical machine about half an hour ago.

I brew my own mead in my kitchen. It's one of those things that can either be really simple (add water, yeast, and honey, then shake and let sit for five months) or as complicated as you want it to be (there are a host of more advanced things you can do to it, from different ingredients to boosting agents and all sorts of…

Quinoa egg bake for breakfast. 247 calories per serving, and one was plenty for me. http://www.fitsugar.com/Healthy-Quinoa-Egg-Bake-Recipe-26947762

I just perpetually have a little plastic cup that holds exactly two cups of water when filled up. I always have it with me, whether I'm working on something or just relaxing. Even four of those a day (which is seemingly trivial given it's a small cup by my standards) is the 8 cups they recommend. Yesterday I hit 16 cups of…

I basically can't do a diet plan that removes bread. It's simply not happening.

Actually only a couple months ago. I've picked up CDs from some local bands that I liked listening to at events, or just that I wanted to support.

I just finished my BA a couple of months ago, and honestly, I just lived on sandwiches for like three straight years. Deli counter turkey, Hellman's light mayo, and Dave's Killer Bread. That plus an apple or something was my lunch on campus almost every day of classes. I also carried a 20 ounce water bottle and drank…

Originally from Iowa, been living in Washington for the last four years. Given the respective weather conditions, I think I made the right decision.

Man, Angry Orchard hard cider is like the only alcohol I drink anymore. That stuff is delicious. I don't really substitute anything for it, I simply don't drink as much as a whole. If I have one drink a week, that's probably about it unless there's some specific event going on (like my cousin's upcoming birthday party on…

Nothing, unless I'm in like a guest bed or something, in which case it's boxers.

Three of my friends were using it and said I should too. I now use it more than two of them. They brought it upon themselves.

About six months. Coincidentally, I'm currently wearing the same shirt. Not the tie, though.

I was pushing extremely hard for a new personal calorie record on the elliptical within 60 minutes, struggling hard but still forcing through it, and the machine died at the 44 minute mark. It was on a higher resistance than I've done before and doing one of the "sports intervals" programs, with sharp increases and…

Off the dollar menu specifically? Probably the McChicken. Not based on any sort of nutritional info, it's just the only thing I can tolerate on their dollar menu.

I just now saw this thread, but I've already done about 35 miles in the last week. Fastest challenge accomplishment ever!

Welcome to the community! In your previous efforts, have you kept a really detailed diet log? I find that putting every single thing I eat or drink into my log, as accurately as I can, makes a huge difference in what I eat. Whenever I eat something I know is bad for me, before I even order it, I'll look up its nutrition…

I'm down for this, should be fun stuff. Everything in the challenge is either something I already do or something I want to do anyway.

Evening everyone, my name's Chris, in case my user name left that as a mystery. Huge Walking Dead fan, I'm so glad I saw this (and thanks to Cindy for keeping it bumped in the public forums). Much as I have a man-crush on Daryl, his team is pretty well stocked, so I'll ask to join Team Rick instead.
