Again... I call shenanigans.
-
Really? So is mine.

I'm a big guy and I run. I don't care what others think, I'm out there for me. I just get lost in the rhythym of my feet hitting the ground and my music and enjoy the sights along the trail. As far as the comment about being overweight and running will hurt your joints, I call shenanigans. Before I lost weight my knees…

If it makes you feel any better, I'll come here when I'm done and give a complete report about how my big @$$ made it through, ha.
-
I spent $25 for a 10k.

The most common mistake anyone who goes barefooted or wears like a Vibram Five Finger is they don't build it up, they just go b.a.lls to the wall and try to run a half marathon without training for it and get hurt.
-
That's probably waaaaaay better than any advice you could get here on running barefoot.
-
Again.. Ease into it. We've gotten so used to running with shoes that anything barefoot is foreign. I'd do something similiar to a couch to 5k. I'd walk the first couple of times. The next couple of times I'd walk, run a little, and finish it out walking. And slowly build like that.
-
I think you have the jist of it. Some folks recommend slowly working your way from regular shoes to min. shoes to barefoot. If you just started and you got the right area to train, I say go barefoot, but do it slowly. Listen to your body. I wouldn't go run 15 miles the first go round, ease into it.

I got one coming up April 21st. I already told my fiancee she'd be driving my truck home while I rode in the bed.
-
I've seen some kind of Jelly Bean too, has anyone tried those?
-
I think I've developed the issue. It started last week. I just took it easy on the running and the first day I was able to run this week (due to weather and the gym being closed) it happened again. I iced it that night, yesterday when I got home from work, and I busted out a foam roller. My problem with the foam roller, I…

That's good info AZ.. I wish I had that before my first 5k and my first 10k.
-
I'm not looking for bulk, I look for endurance so I swap mine out every so often. I'll do full body workouts for so many weeks, then I change to another kind.
-
I live near a running trail and I try to run it at least 2 times a week. I go to a local gym that stays open 24 hours a day except for Saturday night/Sunday morning at midnight it closes and re-opens at noon on Sunday. They are a local chain.
-
Welp looks like I'm investing in a foam roller. I ran in my other running shoes yesterday and I even did some minor stretching and warm up before the run. After it was hurting. I did my usual stretching. Got home iced it 15 on 15 off for a couple of hours. Felt fine. Got up this morning hurting. Stretched again, and it's…

I've sat at my desk all day. Drank 5 gallons of water. Is it ok to treat myself to a piece of sugar free peppermint?
-
Hey you've done something many here, including myself, are either aspiring to do. Good Job.
-
Nice input, I'll try to remember that.
-
I'm slowly planning for one.

I think she's saying vs chocolate milk.
-
Dude.. I wouldn't take it to heart.
-
But in essence, didn't you earn the shirt? I mean you put the work in or do you feel like you put the work in but you can't prove that it paid off?
-
I think it all depends on what your goals are.
-
Working out is one of those things that once you build it into your routine, you get used to it and feel bad when you skip a day. It is possible to lose weight without exercise, but I'm not sure you can hit your goal that way in the time frame. My suggestion is to find an activity you like that will keep you active. When I…

I'm assuming he's saying running 5 days a week at 6 miles a day. Rule of thumb I was told was run double the race on your running days leading up to the event.
-
Never tried them.. Which I've never done more than a 10k or ran more than 75 minutes. Is it really that helpful?
-
Something I've done and it may or may not be right. I don't look at the mileage when I run, I just start my stop watch and run for x number of minutes. If I have it set in my head I want to run for 50 minutes, I run for 50 minutes. I'll worry about how far it is later like on a rest day, I'll take a drive and figure out my…

I usually don't wear the shirt for at least a week after the race. I haven't signed up and not competed yet so I can't help you. I do believe that it's up to you. You paid money to do an event and if you can't attend but are given a free shirt I don't see why not. It doesn't matter if you ran or not, the money is still…

I was running in my Vibram Five Fingers and they are about 2 years old.
