  • I already go to a gym that's 24 hours a day. This would be literally within walking distance. As far as my workouts I do free weights a good bit and do alot of dumbbell action. I'll have to take a tour and decide if it's for me.
  • I think it's safe to say that tufel don't believe everyone should get a trophy, score should be kept, and there is a such thing as a winner and a loser.
  • I have a pair of Vibram KSOs and a pair of New Balance Minimus Shoes with the Vibram sole. I've lifted and ran in both pair. I've done walks in both pair. I've ran races in both pair. I'm a big guy. I'm 6'4" and 276. Best piece of advice anyone ever gave me regarding any shoes like this was: "If you buy a pair, wear them…
  • I've actually quit drinking protein shakes after a workout and began drinking milk instead. I'm 3 weeks into this little experiment. In another 9 I hope to be able to give some insight.
  • I almost messed up and reported you instead of quote.. Phew.. You can actually go on youtube and type in dumbbell swing and it shows how to do it and it's very similiar to the KB swing. A little awkward, but not bad. linanil, you're right at the CF plaes they do that, however, if you're doing it on your own you can take as…
  • This is true. I don't agree with the arching of the back in any way, that's just me. We all go with what we're taught. Kinda like squats. Some say parallel, some say don't stop til your butt is almost to your ankles. It all goes back to who taught you how to do it.
  • You can go to any gym any time of the day and you'll find people, crossfitters or not, using improper form. It's natural. I'll be the first to admit that not every rep is proper form for me. I get aggrevated when I watch a young kid trying to make sure he hits a high max on bench that he's arching his back and everything.…
  • You could always wear depends, HA.
  • I have an impecable knack for distance and location. Plus I use my truck to ride from the start to finish to figure it out or do it on a track.
  • You have a point, but you can get injured doing any exercise if done incorrectly. Form is key.
  • Oh I fed it when I got home with a banana. Then after I cooled off and felt I could eat something else, I ate me a good ol' pita sammich loaded with turkey.
  • Yes.. Anything you can do with a kettlebell you should be able to do with a dumbbell. Granted a KB might be easier. I'm here to tell you if you put forth a full effort, you're going to feel whooped and gave out. And you might experience soreness where you never have before. But it passes. People can say what they want…
  • You can go to different websites like SEALFit.com or Mountain Athlete and sometimes they give you alternate exercises to do if you can't do what one of the exercises asks you to do. Like I can't do a handstand so a handstand push up would be rather difficult, but I looked and found a variation on how to do one. I think if…
  • Well the week before last I actually was able to run 1.5 miles with no issues except being out of shape. But I also stretched little before and spent several minutes after. I've decided instead of waiting to get my mileage up before hitting weights to hit the weights but be slow and listen to my body.
  • Didn't think about PB.. I might run to the local grocery store at lunch and see if I can find something healthy to have as well.

  • You won't ruin them. I have KSOs. I've used them on the creek at our camp on the mud trails prior to the Warrior Dash and again this weekend. I just wash them out before throwing them in the washing machine.

  • I wore my Vibrams, but my tread is about wore off. Like QuickPE said, you want something with traction, cause you is gonna slide.

  • OH yea.. People were walking. It's all about the finish.
  • Yea.. Don't worry about running.. It's the experience, unless you want to win fastest whatever. It's built to test you and to have fun.
  • I never take water during a 5k. My 10k last year I took one water, but that was because my mouth was dry. I wouldn't hit every station unless you thought you needed the water. I run with my headphones, but mainly because some of the music on it helps me set a pace. There are no tricks. Just remember to run your race at…
  • Brian's right. I'm having the same issue with my hip, and I've been taking it easy on it and stretching it. I have a WD tomorrow so that'll be the test if I can get back to it or not. Just stretch after a run. Do some light stretching before if you feel like you must. On my run days, which I do it by time not mileage, set…
  • The one here is Saturday. I'm pumped.
  • I've used NO Xplode. Not a big fan. Made me too nervous. I do use cycles of NO Shotgun. It gives you that boost plus 18 grams of protein.

  • I think they're going to have a gear check in area where you can store your stuff until it's over. And it will still be $10 to park. They are recommending that you arrive about an hour or so before your heat to make sure you get shuttled over in time.
  • Bump for the MS folks.
  • If you have no other options, I recommend using dumbbells.
  • I get what you're saying, but she didn't ask what people thought about her in the grocery store, she was concerned what people would think if they saw her out on a run. I'll admit you'll see junk food in my buggy from time to time, but it's usually because we have guests or we've been invited somewhere and we have to bring…
  • All that's done is made me want to train that much harder for a half to show people that I can do it. Pisses me off to no end when people say I shouldn't do it because I'm a big guy.
