  • I do wish there was a like button on MFP!
  • I'm currently training for sprint Tri in October = 400yard swim, 11mile bike and 5k run and I start Marathon training in September for the Rock'n'Roll Phoenix = at least two of my training runs will be actual Half marathons. I'm going to do the Shun the Sun out here in Mesa, AZ - a wee tiny race with <1000 runners and then…
  • I only run in Wright socks since I discovered them. The double layer really really does reduce friction and minimize blistering. I think at a certain point, blisters may be inevitable but I've done 1/2 marathons in Wright socks and have never had a blister in them. I've also had good success with the Injinji toe socks.…
  • Substitute for Whipping Cream - Milk, Cornstarch and Flour For a low-fat, low-carb alternative to whipping cream, whisk together 1 cup of low-fat or fat-free milk with 2 tbsp. of cornstarch. When combined, continue whisking and add 1 tbsp. flour. You can also use almond or rice milk. This substitute works best in recipes…
  • I've already completed some of my list: Run a half marathon - done several - 6? or maybe 7... Run a full marathon - Jan 2012! Do a triathlon - sprint length - Oct 2011 Do the Spartan Run - March 2012 Do the Tough Mudder - ??? someday! Do P90x - again but with real pull ups this time! Completed my first round in March 2011
  • I wear a Road ID shoe pouch that has my information on it (and holds a handy bit of cash) in case I am rendered unconscious and people are afraid of the dog. But where do I find a hot fireman with steak? I would like to nibble on both!

  • If I run alone, I run with 1 - 2 dogs. I run in areas that I have already driven, biked or walked. I stick to main roads for my early morning runs and I carry my cell phone with me, making sure that my hubby knows what route I'm taking. I also make sure that I make eye contact and smile and or wave at anyone near me. Makes…

  • Frankly, I'm too lazy to have to wear pants! But all joking aside, I think being naked together is a wonderful thing
  • Some of my personal favorite snacks: +Hummus with fresh veggies - I like the 3 Olive Hummus especially that I get at Walmart +Fresh fruit with a cheese stick - I like the pepperjack cheese especially! +Laughing Cow Cheese wedges - alone, on toast, on fruit...these are pretty much awesome in all ways +Raw nuts - I prefer…
  • 1.) We wanted the tax break. 2.) I needed insurance and his job only provided it for spouses, not "partners" 3.) We wanted to be legally able to make decisions for one another if it became medically necessary. That being said, I do love him madly and don't regret marriage at all - 5 years in and we're still quite happy…
  • 5'2" here too! It's a good height to be!
  • Today it was 2 eggs, over easy with 2 slices of bacon cooked crisp. I added an entire small zucchini sauted and topped with 1T of grated parmesan cheese. Then, I was still hungry so I had two pieces of whole wheat toast with a Laughing Cow Swiss spread on them with a sprinkle of cinnamon and a bit of agave nectar for…

  • Do it! It's exactly 3 months until my first tri too! Which one are you doing?
  • So... how do you time stuff in the swimming pool? Do you wear goggles? Do you wear the swim cap thingie?
  • Yeah, I have no idea what the terminology means. I am actually going to hit the pool on Saturday as part of my test for my sprint triathalon in October. I can bike and run but the swimming may be iffy... I'm up for a newbie swimmer thread of any kind!
  • Double Chocolate Magnums Best chocolate/ice cream combo ever. Imagine chocolate ice cream dipped in chocolate then dipped in fudge and then dipped in chocolate AGAIN. 360 calories so a bit high for normal days - I try to save them for my long run days!
  • You could also sub it with the Cardio X option However, you could also do what my husband does - the yoga x is basically four parts: 45 minutes of "moving" exercises that are hard and take a lot out of me, 10 minutes or so of balance, about 10 minutes of a rough little ab workout and then about 20 minutes or so of light…
  • MTFU or if you prefer, WTFU I also like to borrow from Finding Nemo - Just keep swimming!

  • I'd like to add to the already very good starting list - Comfortable running clothes are a must for me. I don't so much care what the look like but anything to minimize chafing really really helps. Especially in the bra area! When I started running, I was using two sports bras! Happily that area has subsided down to a…
  • What works for me is to go get an object that weighs about what I have lost and actually pick it up. I lost about 40lbs in total - so I go get one of my 5 gallon water bottles for my water cooler. Just holding that for a few minutes generally gives me a whole pile full of motivation!
  • Good to know I'm not the only one these things happen to! Worst for me was a planned 10 mile training run that lasted ALMOST a quarter of a mile before something I ate decided it DID NOT like me anymore and required a very, very fast return home. I've also had a couple of stops in gas stations, McDonald's and public…
  • Yup. Every single day. I don't post all results on MFP and I don't use it as anything but a judgement of how what I ate yesterday is influencing me today. I also use it as a judgement of if I'm drinking enough water for running - i.e. I weigh before I run and then after I run, trying to keep my weight the same so I am not…
  • I wonder if I could limit the sweetener and use up some of the bananas that are sitting on my cupboard.... thanks for the recipe!
