  • How old are your kids? I'm a single mom with a 6 year old. Her social/school/sport life is not yet out of hand, but it gets busier every year. Are you a morning person? Can you wake up before them and workout then?
  • hard boiled eggs ... I peel one in the morning and bring it to work in a baggie or little tupperware ... it's a great source of protein that's easy and portable.
  • hummus and veggies....fruit.......low-cal crackers hard boiled eggs.....fruit.....low-cal crackers wraps with spinach, deli meat, dressing if you don't have a microwave at work, buy a thermos and bring warmed up leftovers
  • try french onion soup or some other broth based soup ...
  • carrots, cucumber, celery, bell pepper...all amazing dippers for hummus. You can also make your own pita chips as suggested. I even think that a 100 calorie bagel thin, baked with a touch of olive oil and seasoning would be a great low cal dipper.
  • I've heard a few things....don't know how many are scientifically true! the caffeine can trigger hunger it can dehydrate you the "sugar" can make you crave more sugars will be interested to hear a more scientific response!

  • That's a tough schedule. You may want to look for a few cookbooks that have healthy crockpot recipes and also anything that has fast "whole food" recipes ... things that can be assembled quickly. If you have a Trader Joe's in your area they have a lot of less processed foods that are delicious and reasonably priced. As…
  • try cutting down the quantity of nuts and add a fruit...so, 100 calorie packs (make your own!) of nuts and an apple for snack..that should be around 160 calories or so. the water is more a habit than anything else..I'm not one of those people who feels thirsty all the time so I have to be very intentional about my water…
  • he may be worried that you'll leave HIM once you reach a healthy weight. it could be his own insecurities that have him make you feeling insecure about losing the weight in the first place. is he overweight? could he be feeling threatened?
  • Everyone "works" the program in a different way....I think this is perfectly ok...it all averages out!
  • Go to amazon and search through their cookbooks for anything that says 4 ingredient or 5 ingredient...maybe use the word fresh in there so as to limit the search to healthier cookbooks. EVERYONE should learn how to cook! If you truly WANT to learn how to cook, check out some local supermarkets to see if they have cooking…

  • I use the generic "calistenics, vigoruos effort" for my weight training ...seems to be pretty close to what my HRM gives me. We do a LOT of body weight only stuff but also throw in some moderate weights for an exercise or two.
  • I wholeheartedly agree with wewon on this. I know that probably puts me in the minority and could be why I have a slower weight loss than many, BUT...I have been consistent in my weight loss even while enjoying the occasional "cheat" meal. Emphasis on MEAL! Having the occasional "unhealthy" meal out is not going to wreck…
  • I love all things peanut butter...this looks soooo good!
  • I saw those cute little 70 calorie ice cream cones yesterday ... definitely on my "to buy" list once the weather turns warmer (for good!).
  • Sounds good! I would actually swap out the pasta for a long grain brown rice (not instant). You'll get more fiber and nutrients from the rice than you would the pasta.
  • Great ideas! Can't wait to find (and try) the blue cheese version....low fat buffalo chicken coming up! :-)
  • I made this tonight for dinner. Doubled the shrimp and onion but nothing else...still came out VERY cheesy and SO delicious! I'm adding this to my regular meals! I'm also now obsessing about what else I can do with Laughing Cow Cheese. I don't normally go for processed cheese but this was seriously good and I know they…
  • One thing that others have not addressed is looking at the types of foods you are eating. Are they whole foods or are they "empty" calories. The more whole grains, proteins, fruits and vegetables you consume, the more satisfied you will be. Fiber helps, too!
  • I agree....food scales are a great tool. The thing I like best about mine is that I can reset the weight to zero even with someone on it. So...if I am building a salad or a yogurt parfait, each new item can be weighed as it goes into the bowl. Not having to measure everything out and then assemble is a great time-saver! I…
  • This looks AMAZING! I'll have to look for that Laughing Cow Cheese ... I could probably even eat this without the tortilla or even over a 1/2 cup brown rice. YUM!
  • I am SO glad that you asked this question! I've only attempted jogging in the past 12 weeks. I started out not being able to jog one lap (11 = a mile at my gym). I have increased my endurance to 6 laps before a walk break but the first two ALWAYS suck. Funny thing is that our trainer likes to have us do intervals of…
  • Try cutting back to 1 Tbsp to see if you really need all that dressing. I like to dress my salad and then cut through it a few times to help mix the dressing in...and also to get smaller bites. You may be surprised at how little dressing you actually need.
  • Any type of soup, casserole, pasta that you can make ahead of time would be great! I try to prep for the week on Sunday. I'm not always successful. Some of my quick make foods: Quesadilla (bean, cheese, tortilla, salsa) ... microwave or on the stove...doesn't take much time at all! Baked Potato & Broccoli Chop up some…
  • My blender is about to die according to the sound it make the last time I made a smoothie! I'm going for the Magic Bullet so that I can make "custom" smoothies for my daughter and I in the morning. As another post mentioned....use frozen fruit instead of ice. A much creamier outcome!
  • Not everyone is the same...if I eat back my exercise calories, I will not lose. But I think my metabolism is completely shot from years and years and years of yo-yo dieting!
  • That's AWESOME Lu! I wonder if I'll ever be able to find 3 hours to just walk and walk and walk. Doubtful right now...maybe someday!
  • Do you have a Trader Joe's and/or Aldi close by? I spend a little extra gas/time every week to shop at Trader Joe's because their prices CANNOT be beat!
  • I had the same problem. Many of the fats were comeing from unsaturated (healthy) fats. So...I changed my food diary display to only show saturated fats and set that to a healthy level. Mine is set to 17grams...can't remember where I got that information but I rarely go over that amount.
  • This may sound odd, but I often have cooked brown rice heated in the microwave with a splash of almond milk (could use regular) then add in some dried cranberries (get the real kind, not the ones pumped full of extra sugar!) and slivered almonds. VERY filling and good for you! My other favorite is cottage cheese w/ frozen…
