Yeah you probably need/needed to do to PT 2-3X a week, I did that for months. I still go (almost 4 years later) occasionally because it is never fixed. I have ligaments and tendons that are beyond messed up, but I still do my PT exercises at home. I've run 2 marathons, 15 half marathons, a 25K, a 30K and about 45 other…

The weight will come back off, once you're recovered. To me it seems like you're trying to mitigate the weight gain with overexercising and not allowing yourself to heal properly. Do you have a physical therapist? He or she is probably your best bet for advising you on your fitness/recovery/training. I tore a ligament and…

Currently training for a 50K in July. I'm a 2x marathoner, a 13x half marathoner and a certified running coach. Certainly feel free to add me, but only if you're dedicated and committed... April 20th: Asbury Park Half Marathon (NJ) May 4th: OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon (IN) May 5th: Flying Pig Half Marathon (OH)…

 The funny/distracting stuff is good for the first 13 miles, sometimes up until 18 but at 24 most people just need someone to believe they can do it and help them acknowledge that they can! Have fun! There's nothing more inspiring than watching a marathon!
-
Having run 2 marathons myself, at mile 24 you just need encouragement. At that point, it's too hard to laugh, smile or do much else. I would suggest inspiring over humorous myself. One of my most favorite signs is "You ARE stronger than YOU think". I saw it once in a race when I was really, really struggling and I just…

Lots of great stuff here! I don't have anything to add really. Shoedometer app: http://www.shoedometer.com/ Best thing ever! Especially if you're a shoe aficionado and have a hard time tracking your miles on certain shoes.

Is this for real?!?

I struggle to understand why so many people define themselves as by whom they are attached to. Be the best and happiest version of yourself and the rest will work itself out. I'm 28, single and it really doesn't phase me. I don't live my life according to someone else's definition of what the "norm" is. I worry about…

Are you sure there isn't? Many universities with exercise science programs have the capabilities to do so. Exercise physiologists (which is how I got mine tested) are a good resource, and you can also contact Registered Dieticians (aka nutritionists with credentials) to see if they do it or if they know where to find it.
-
Well thanks for that! Totally unexpected compliment (and on my birthday of all days) There is a lot of nonsense information out there, but if you look hard enough you will find the quality information on resetting your metabolism - which is not some magic diet, contrary to what some companies are pushing! Hope it…

I eat 93/7 ground turkey all the time, it has never made me sick or feel ill. I only buy Shady Brook Farms or Jennie-O, not sure if that makes too much of a difference though. Ground beef actually makes me sick to my stomach more often than not, as does anything with more than 7% fat. I prefer 96/4, but am not sure it's…

OP - just sounds like you're pissed off at your body type, but rant away. I always say I'm a 2/4. Most often a 2. I can't wear 0s and I can't fit into anything at a 6 or above (too big).

I got tested in January via a very similar method. Mine was 864 (or 846 I can't remember). I basically decided that at 5'3, 120 pounds that was just far too unhealthy of a metabolism. So I made the conscious decision to eat more and "fix" my metabolism. I have gained, but I am a lot healthier now...I haven't had it…

I see more instance of the above, than not. And I have a lot of running friends... I don't know why yours doesn't do it, but it's not a uncommon occurrence.

Why would you want to import Garmin data into Runkeeper? Garmin has its' own site that you can see more info about your sessions called Garmin Connect. It will shows HR, distance, pace for splits and now will even let you "play" your course and show you HR and pace as it varies along your session.

Here's what I'm talking about...Nike vs. Garmin - Nike showed 4.26 miles, Garmin showed 3 miles.

Garmin 405CX and I love it. I had a battery issue (after the warranty ran out) and grabbed replaced it with a brand new watch for free - and it only took less than a week between when I shipped it and when I received the replacement. They have excellent customer service and have been around for a long time. They are the…

Pretty sure there are no words for how disgusting he is. And I would bet a decent amount of money he did it for the PR.

Seriously? Not a medical necessity. Did you read the OP's profile? Probably not. She still has 40 pounds to lose. So maybe if she went at it the right way she wouldn't need said surgery. Trying to get insurance to pay for it is a scam. It's not an injury and it's not life threatening.
-
Simple - if I don't want to eat it, I don't eat it. If I want to eat it, I will - if I only want a partial portion that's what I will take. I cannot stand when people try and push food on me. I get a lot of people that tell me that I'm small and can eat it or that I run so much it won't matter. That's just not the point.…

This. Your extra skin is because of what YOU did and I think it's BS you're looking for insurance to cover it.

I love Mizuno Breathe Thermo myself for the upper layers. I have 2 pairs of Pearl Izumi tights that I alternate between - thin vs thick. My thin (warmer) pair are the Pearl Izumi Select and my thicker (colder) pair are the Pearl Izumi Thermal. SmartWool PhD socks are great as well. I lived in the mountains of NH and ran in…

Oh and boredom, maybe? Sometimes I get bored at work (mostly I'm just itching to move) and I get "hungry".

So chicken fajitas and a PROTEIN shake don't have any protein? Sounds like you're getting your protein and some fiber. Those are generally the things that help you stay fuller longer. Likely it comes down to how much food you're eating - gross vs. net
-
Nope. Save your money, and get your RMR or BMR tested instead. I believe it to be far more accurate for people that need to be "motivated" to get moving, and not people whom are already in good shape and looking for their TDEE. I had nothing but problems with mine (in addition to the fact that it was greatly…

I don't understand why you wouldn't... Is it a nuisance? Does it not look cool? I value my life too much to not wear a helmet.
-
You don't need to carb load for a 5K, FYI. A lot of times I will get pasta, because it's often a safer choice. Pasta pomodoro is usually a safe choice, I try and add chicken for the protein myself. Specify how you want things cooked - I always ask them how they prepare things - places will cook veggies with butter, and…

Ditto everything said here - even the part about living between Boston and NYC in CT. Boston is the best, but NYC is good as well...as long as you don't root for the Y*****s
