I'm in a REALLLLLY good mood today. Had an active recovery day yesterday - 15 minute light walk at lunch, Core 20 + Stretch 40 from Turbo Fire after work. I forgot that I had done a 15 minute ab circuit on Wednesday, so yesterday's Core 20 put me over the edge. My abs just hurt when I am doing nothing right now...love it!…

Ha ha thanks Meag! I was getting sick of the signature being all green, so I went in search of some animated letters...wish they were a bit smaller but whatcha gonna do? Thanks for the recipe! Do you think it's something I could make in advance and bring to work (possibly eat it cold as well) and have it taste good?! Sorry…

I wouldn't log anything if you're constantly getting sick on a day. If anything gets taken in by the body, it's probably 1/4-1/2 of what you put into it, but there's no way of knowing. I would just hydrate well and eat healthy foods and not log. Feel better!

Nix all the sugar free stuff and the Crystal Light. Fiber One isn't all that great for you, but better than some options

I suppose I could have just Googled as well. Found one for $30 at Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/World-Cuisine-A4982799-Tri-Blade-Vegetable/dp/B0007Y9WHQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1294348250&sr=8-1 Looks like I'll be gifting it to myself once I recover from holiday spending! Thanks!

Gah that looks amazing! Is the spiralizer costly? Or reasonable? I'm trying to expand my veggie horizons a bit but that looks divine!

Nearly all boxed pasta is 180-210 calories per 2 oz (dry) serving. For pasta it's more about the quality of the pasta than the calories. Try and avoid white pasta and get whole wheat/whole grain pasta - more bang for you buck in terms of fiber and being better for you overall.

I don't eat "sugar free" ANYTHING. I find it disgusting (especially if it has Splenda). I have mostly kicked my soda habit - but if I have one it is Diet Coke/Coke Zero...so I it is "light" but I can't stand the taste of Coke. I will eat "reduced fat" products - mostly cheese (cream/shredded/sour), but always 1/2 of a…

The more fit you are, the more efficient your body gets as well - so lower burn for the same workouts. I don't even burn 90 calories running a 9 minute mile anymore. I think for you it's probably Garmin being inaccurate and low-balling you as well as you being more fit than you realize. A better option for you might be the…
-
Oh and your calorie burn is probably on the low side, but based on your weight and height you most likely didn't burn anything higher than 8 calories/minute. Stinks huh?

Melissa, honestly return in. Garmins are great (I just bought one) but only to be used for outdoor runs. If you don't see much running - particularly endurance events (10 milers and up) in your future it's not a good investment for you. I knew I wanted a Garmin but bought a Polar first because Garmins are not made for…

Meag - Just checked for you and active does indeed do Canada! I even put in Hamilton and found some races. Namely a 3K (and half marathon) in Grimsby on February 27th that the boy could perhaps do with you to make up for the skiing incident?! There's also a marathon/half marathon/10K/5K in Mississauga May 14-15…

Gah, I could have sworn I checked in yesterday here. Boo on me! I do read the posts, but sometimes get too overwhelmed to comment:grumble: Re: Warrior Challenge - I think it's really not as "Warrior-like" as they lead you to believe. Mostly why I've opted to not do it. I've heard/read that you wait around for periods of…

Make lists of tasks you have to do every day. No matter how mundane and simple the tasks may seem, it'll make you feel better about getting stuff done around the house and not get you into a funk. Do something you've been meaning to do for a long time that you kept putting off because it was too much of a project - i.e.…

Being completely unemployed (I quit my job) for 6 months is what made me gain weight (18-20 pounds) and how I found MFP. I had no idea how much I was sitting around and sitting on the computer searching for jobs and snacking. The second I stepped on the scale and saw the gain, I hit the ground running and lost 27 pounds in…

Avocadoes that are ripe brown the minute they are exposed to air - quite like apples. Just keep the pit in, wrap it tightly in plastic wrap and stick it in the fridge. It won't completely stop browning, but it won't go bad if you store it this way and it's still quite edible when brown. ETA, don't peel it. I cut through…

Your answer is in your question. Simply put, too few calories netted due to running. Not to burst your bubble, but you're not burning a ridiculous amount of calories running 2 miles at your weight...absolutely max is 125 calories/mile depending on how efficient your body is. You need to net 1200 calories. So if you burn…

Aly, I like it. I don't LOVE it like I thought I would though. Overall, it gets 4.5 stars on Amazon, but I personally feel the burn in Level 2. I found Level 1 to be far too easy for me...perhaps because I've done all Jillian's DVDs and my abs are used to being worked?! I LOVE Turbo Fire but it's mostly cardio with some…

Bump! Happy New Year everyone! I'll be back once I think of some goals for the month!

Ugh up to 120.8 today. Final log-in of 2010 and I went up 1 pound from Monday?! I was trying to get some sort of gauge of my Christmas damage but I think (HOPE!) that the gain is from water retention in my muscles. They've been worked pretty hard this week - more intense Turbo Fire and loads of shoveling. Not to mention…

I think the bodyrock girl looks weird. Maybe it's the angle - her body is okay, kind of too skinny/scrawny for her muscle definition and her boobs look fake. I think Jillian is toned, but she definitely has a visible stomach pooch if you look hard enough...:glasses:

Personally, I think MapMyRun is better...plus they have a Blackberry app:smile:

Baby carrots, cherry/grape tomatoes, cucumber slices, bell peppers, clementines, apples and bananas for my fruits/veggies. Almonds, Wasa crispbread, unsalted/no salt added pretzels and lightly salted rice cakes for my non-fruit/veggie snacks. Cottage cheese/string cheese/Chobani Greek Yogurt for my protein. As far as…

You're kidding?! I've been on MFP for just under a year now and I can tell you that most users here want to see a lower number on the scale, it's not about the fat loss/muscle gain at all. You appear to be here to gain muscle, but I can assure you that's not a thought that crosses most people's minds here. People think…

Losing weight and being healthy are not one in the same. Simply put, all you need to lose weight is a calorie deficit. Eating/being healthy is a whole different story. It's best to stay away from the "whites" and processed foods and sugars, but most of us can't do that 100% of the time. Eat the healthiest you can and…
