  • I'll be there. It'll be my first full!
  • Hi ladies! I'm here and I suck at catching up. Been spending every spare minute looking at car stuff, so I'm very pleased to say I got my new car tonight. Totally unexpected (I was waiting until the weekend) as I went to a new dealership to get my trade-in assessed, feel in love with the same car but a higher model and…
  • I finished it last April after coming off from years of foot/ankle/knee injuries. Have run 27 races since, including a half marathon and am currently training for my first marathon! It's a great program and it has me addicted (no question) to running!
  • ITB problems are not going to be cured with supplements, as there's nothing deficient nutrient-wise causing your problem. Get into see a sports medicine doctor or physical therapist. Time off is vital, we all know that...most of us hate to sacrifice time running when we're training. But light weeks and days off are…
  • Water! I bet the intense heat is getting to you. Gyms are notoriously hot this time of year as well. Even when it's hot outside and I haven't had enough water in the day, I get headaches sitting at my computer at work. So hydration. Water, make sure you getting in a decent amount of veggies/fruits and I bet you'll see a…
  • Just get a Garmin, honestly. It's the best investment you can make. None of the apps are going to be anwhere in the same field as a Garmin. I have the 405CX and I loooooooove it.
  • Hi everyone. I know I said I'd really come back, but my life has been overtaken by this car accident shizzle and my marathon training. Work has been awful this week and I'm just a stress mess. Basically, my car is worth nothing (totaled or not), so even though I got the insurance money from the dumbass who hit me and can…
  • If you don't like to jog/run, then by all means...don't do it. You're supposed to enjoy your exercise in order to keep at it. With that said, maybe try jog/walk intervals for a change of pace (no pun intended)? But if you don't like it, don't do it. I love to run and struggle to strength train and stretch most days...but…
  • I also think it's a problem with not enough room in your shoes (particularly the toe box). I get the same blood blisters, and it's usually when my toenails aren't as trim as they should be, i've worn through my shoes (too much mileage) or I need to go up a size/switch shoes. Running store...go and go fast! Running…
  • Okay back from San Diego, I caught the airplane crud, and my kitty was ridiculously excited to see me. He JUST stopped meowing (and I got home 24 hours ago). At 10 AM this morning, I was in bed, finishing my book, trying to hydrate and muster up the strength to go grocery shopping and get some errands done. There's an…
  • Bethany - Coronado IS gorgeous. Went for a stroll there last night, got some froyo and shopped a bit. Not to make you jealous, but I'm going back tomorrow morning for a 6AM run :) Tara - Thanks, I did kill it! And even if a race is for "fun", I never treat it that way. I probably should relax a bit more, but it's just not…
  • Hi all, I'm here. My strength training goal is already out the window for the month (crap!), but I'm in San Diego on business, the gym sucks and it's just not super practical. Between Sunday at 6 PM and this morning (Tuesday) at 7 AM, I had already run 20 miles in lovely, lovely weather. 4ish Sunday, 10.5 yesterday and 5.5…
  • 5'3, 120ish and I average a 2 (can wear some 0s and 4s, but 2 is my norm)
  • Well don't give up quite yet. Contact your nearest recruiter and see what the deal is. I bet if you show interest, they'll bend the rule. Maybe the new age limit hasn't yet gone into effect yet, or.... there's no telling until you ask what the scoop is!
  • Hydration is key! I cannot stress this enough. Particularly in the summer months, when it's hot as hell outside and the gym air conditioning doesn't do as well. I can't really tell you what's up in your situation (doctor + pulmonary specialist are probably a good idea), but I have a fainting condition and get light-headed…
  • That's why I got Turbo Fire over this past winter, when I was only doing runs on the weekends due to poor light and icy roads (and no treadmill option). Good luck with your training!
  • I'm not sure about the OP, but I'm not the type of person that can do the "low impact" version of anything. I'm always in competition with myself to kick my own *kitten* and do the best I can, so the version where your HR doesn't get as high and you're not drenched in sweat isn't for me. I just see it as the "sissy…
  • I wouldn't advise doing Turbo Fire for you. I'm also a runner and though I love Turbo Fire but when I'm in full running mode (4-5 days a week), TF is too much cardio for me, particularly if you're doing any HIITs. I also have a bad knee and the impact from some of the landings causes me a great deal of discomfort. It was…
  • It really depends on your pace, but I think overall people shoot for a sub-60 minute 10K initially, just as people shoot for a sub-30 minute 5K initially. But different strokes for different folks, as I would not be pleased with a 59 minute 10K. But I believe that was my goal when I raced my first 10K. Busy week for me. I…
  • Well it depends really. I don't eat sugar free anything, because they use artificial sweeteners. But fat free isn't necessarily any better. A lot of times, they add extra sugar/sodium/chemicals to make the fat free taste better and to get the right consistency. Honestly, you're probably better eating less of the "normal"…
  • Updated list with me added! Allie7383- Finally finish the 30DS, get into the 130's, start and keep up with the bridge to 10k program! Black_Swan - eat back all exercise calories and keep up with my running plan Teee2- Lose these next pounds the healthy way with no self harming involved for the next month!!!! (Baby steps!)…
  • Okay y'all, I'm going to try and be an active member of this thread again. To those that don't know me, I'm Jill, 26 and an avid runner. I have a plethora of injuries on my right side after too many years of being a feisty soccer player and runner. Got back into running February 2010 after nearly 2 years of feeling sorry…
  • If you really want/need to know, you need to contact the manufacturer of the product.
  • Ahhh thanks for that info Koppy. My pace just dropped down about :30 seconds/mile because of the terrain/people dodging/wind. Good to know though. I've only been doing 3 milers on the beach right now, but planned on slowly increasing my beach distance just as I've done to my overall weekly mileage.
  • Why can't you just train with him and then run another race in the same timeframe? I personally don't like racing with others. I thought it would be fun at first to have other people do the same races as me. But then I always stressed out about them wanting me to go at their pace. Usually my sister would "release me" to…
  • I've only recently started running on the beach, but have been running for quite some time. I just treat it like a regular run, same sneakers and all. I try to run as close to (and often in) the water so I get the hard-packed sand. I have a bad ankle, so the loose sand only makes it harder for me. You could run barefoot…
  • I also don't compare myself to other people when at the gym. I do laugh at the people who ramp up the incline on the treadmill, turn up the speed to 4mph, and have to hold on while walking to keep up. That is not a workout and you look like a fool. I'm short and I'm a runner. At 5'3', I can outrun/outpace most of the tall…
  • Okay guys, I think I'm coming back. Been through some crazy major life changes in the last 6 months but I need to re-dedicate myself overall health and fitness and not just getting miles in. Marathon training starts in about 2 weeks. I'll be back with some goals!
  • Peanut butter + an apple Almonds/hazelnuts/any nut really Milk I personally only netted 606 calories. I had a busy day and had a good burn and ate less than I should have. I'm not hungry, so I'm done eating for the day. But by all means get your net up if you're still hungry.
  • Myth. How many calories you eat matters, not when you eat them. I eat right up until I go to bed, I have a lot of energy and a fast metabolism. It works for me. Just don't cut yourself off "just because".
