  • Protein and fiber fill you up. My guess is not enough protein in your yogurt and too much sugar in your yogurt/cereal.
  • If you do a search, you'll undoubtedly find 15423545 posts talking about Warrior Dash. Next time, go that route instead of posting something that's been discussed time and time and time again...
  • I'm sure you know this, but you can customize your goals as you like. So if you know you work best in the 1350-1500 range, just customize your calories to 1425 (right in the middle) and don't worry about your activity level. You know how your body handles things better than MFP does, as it just throws a random generalized…
  • LOVE this song. It's been on my workout playlists since it was released. Doesn't hurt that my name is mentioned in the song either...gives me extra motivation!
  • Moderation, moderation, moderation. Upping my exercise when I can, logging all Christmas activities except for 2 - family party this past Sunday and Christmas Day. Not feeling guilty because I hardly ever go over and don't do regular cheat days/meals. I'm also in maintenance (or trying to be, but can't stop the scale from…
  • Quick selfish post for me as I feel like complete poo today and need to not focus on tiny, tiny print. GOAL REACHED! Ran 13.23 miles (without stopping) on Saturday in 2:09.56. I MAJORLY downplayed my desire to hit 13.1 before I start half-training. Now I know I can run the distance, so I can put aside all the "I can'ts"…
  • Meag - I love it too! Packed it to bring along with me out of town for the weekend! Not sure if you can get one (and it'll probably cost too much to get it sent to you) but the running club does have a store and a guy to contact about clothing - info is here: http://xenia.unh.edu/WCRC/Colors.htm I despise people that have…
  • Took a quick picture of my race shirt on my Blackberry last night...
  • I've read good reviews about the YakTrax Pro. Weather hasn't turned for the worse yet (surprisingly) where I am but most people seem to love them. You can't wear them on anything other than snow/ice though as it says on the product's website. Not sure why the above poster would even try wear them in a supermarket but no…
  • Fast food and low calorie? HA. If you do get something from a fast food chain, be wary of the sodium content and drink lots of water. Do you have a grocery store near you? I've noticed that they have pretty nice salad bars lately - watch the dressing and make sure you add some protein, but it sounds like a much more viable…
  • I add it...I'm from the "better be safe than sorry" side of things though. It is healthy fat and though you might not digest it all, you will take in some of the calories/fat.
  • Ummm I dropped 2.4 pounds this week?!?!?!?!?! On maintenance nonetheless. I wasn't supposed to weigh-in until the 20th, but family Christmas party on the 19th (I know my sodium will be off the charts) and so I decided to weigh-in today. Holy crap. I never lost 2.4 pounds in one week while trying to lose. Well at least this…
  • Welcome. I'm was born and raised in Masshole land, but live in NH now. GRUMBLE. Trying to get the heck out of this state ASAP:glasses:
  • Well as someone who played 14+ years of soccer I think I have some insight into the conditioning/strength required. It's more important to be able to sprint 100M than it is to run 5K. She has to start with basics, so 100M and ball-handing skills are the building blocks of a good soccer player. I played soccer in college,…
  • I count whatever I put in the pain. So if I use 1/4, I account for a 1/4. I'd rather over-estimate than under-estimate. And if I go over my calories/fat because of my over-estimation, then I'm fine if I go over on cals/fat a bit because of it.
  • Soccer doesn't require C25K conditioning. You need to be able to run sprints - check out a local high school track. 100M sprints will help you a LOT but you need to work on ball-handling skills and other basics. There are tonnes of great resources/drills out on the internet for soccer conditioning. I would spend a bit of…
  • I would just do the auto-timer on your camera and have it set up to take 3 consecutive pictures at a time. You can always set the camera on something on the bathroom counter to get the right height!
  • No problem...I love deals/discounts and figured that was a great one to pass along! Meag, definitely don't splurge on a new pair of sneakers if they're not fitted for you. I don't know of one running store that doesn't do a gait assessment - either via treadmill, running outside (which is what I do) or video taping you.…
  • I used to drink 3 or 4 tsp of sugar in my coffee and have cut back to 1/2 - 1 tsp. I have coffee max 2 times a day so I figure that won't kill me. Splenda/Sweet 'n Low/Equal all scare me and I accidentally bought "no sugar added" aka Splenda ice cream over the summer and it was disgusting, but I digress. A splash of skim…
  • Warrior Dash ladies - use WDActive2011 for the "promo code". It'll save you $5. I'm not doing it, but Active.com sent me an email with the code, so I figured I'd pass it on!
  • I agree with Sara. Eat something beforehand - a decent sized salad with some chicken/fish/some sort of protein is a great idea. Have a mixed drink/beer/glass of wine, then have a diet soda/water/sparking water, then have another alcoholic drink...sip 'em slow so you'll drink less and be conscious of the finger foods you're…
  • Well since you asked - replace the instant oatmeal with quick oats/quick steel cut oats. I would say no milk before you work out (unless you've done it before) as it'll probably mess with your stomach. I would say stick to a banana before your workout, pb toast may be too heavy...but you can try it? I would throw some…
  • I add lemon juice, garlic powder and pepper to just about anything and it always tastes good
  • The calories go to yesterday since they were eaten before you went to bed and that's what defines a "day". People that work overnights do it differently, but that's what I do. Just throw them in your 8 PM - 12 AM for yesterday and make note in your comments that you ate them at 1 AM. Eat your normal amount of calories…
  • I imagine you can change more of the all-purpose flour to whole wheat flour (1/3 all-purpose: 2/3 whole wheat) and at least half of the butter to applesauce and have them be a delicious and more nutritious treat! Thanks for sharing!
  • I got Self for many, many years and thought it was a pretty good overall magazine that dealt with health, overall fitness and just life in general. A lot of magazines just have too many ads for me these days though, so I scour them online and save money/trees by doing so. I do get Runner's World though, but it doesn't…
  • Holy hell, *kitten* boss is back again. Thankfully, I haven't had to face him but the email he sent me earlier has angered me beyond words. I actually am afraid what I'll say/do/how I'll look at him if/when I see him so I'm hiding out in my office starving. I'm way behind on my food plan for the day and haven't even…
  • 5.4 pounds in 10 days? It *might* be doable, but it's definitely not the way to go. Just slowly chip away at the pounds and you'll get there. I never did "rewards" but I think that giving yourself an early reward isn't the best idea as you haven't earned it.
  • Aww pretty kitty. My Siamese is mental about ice cream, cottage cheese and pretty much anything dairy. They're such an interesting breed :)
