Congrats! That's a great achievement! Enjoy your success and set new goals!

I lost 25-30 lbs running, at a time when I wasn't tracking anything. I find that once you get over the initial hump, it's a wonderful way to decompress and let the mind wander. It's been amazing for both my physical and mental health. Now I run half-marathons, trail races at a myriad of distances and trained for a marathon…

This totally happens to me. I went to a smaller grocery store and the cashier said "Wow! You have so much healthy stuff" - more surprised than anything. I don't get funny comments like these at the bigger stores, only the smaller ones!

Bipolar here too. I have been symptom free for a long time - largely due to some major improvements in lifestyle. Making dietary choices that are not processed, that are lower in fat and sugar and higher if fibre and nutritional value (like fruits and veggies) in combination with regular exercise keeps my mental health in…

Such a great thread! So many wonderful people here! Funny how a thread on depression became a source of comfort and support for so many, including myself!

Yes it is worth it (for both partners), yes it hurts, but THIS is the best advice regarding how to minimize the pain.

^^ This. Artificial sweetners may have no calories, but they taste awful. Even Stevia has a peculiar taste. Honey is my choice too! Natural and delicious! (Approx. 60 Cal per tablespoon)

I'm another 30 (well, 29) with 30 to lose and a runner too! I mostly run half marathons, but this year I'm aiming for a 10K PB of less than 50 min. Last year I trained for a marathon, only to have it cancelled the day of due to poor weather :frown: - all that training for nothing.... Anyway I sent you a friend request! If…

These are great! My goals are to: 1. Log everything that passes my lips. On weekends I also tend to be less dedicated to tracking and it is to my detriment! 2. Drink 64 oz of water a day (this has been my Everest since I began - I can usually make 6, but 8 glasses are a real challenge!) 3. Run 3 times a week. I had trained…

Another Edmontonian here! It has been beautiful - hard to believe it's February!

MFP also has a low default for protein, somewhere around 15% I believe. You can adjust these ratios - I customized mine based on advice I received from both my trainer and nutritionist. 20-25% is more reasonable for most people, and yes, you can still lose weight even if you adjust these ratios!

I totally admire the dedication it takes for a woman to put on that kind of muscle. A friend of mine recently got her pro card as a body builder and while I'm not interested in attaining that size, her commitment over the years is commendable. Not all body builders of that size use steriods - in fact you have to be clean…

I used to be a milk n sugar in my coffee person, but recently have begun drinking it black. It's amazing - now I can really taste the differences between roasts. Very little beats the smell of freshly brewed coffee, any time of day!

"Losing" a friend is never easy. I agree with the posts above - make time to spend with other friends, and try to go for a walk instead of eating. I would also add, that if you know you're prone to emotional eating, to have a glass of water when you feel the urge and avoid bringing those snacks you crave home - stock your…

There's another one of these with rake thin actresses floating around... I have a copy, but don't know how to post images...

I'm curious about that too... I first read about the project in an issue of Canadian Running, but haven't known anyone who has sent theirs in. Maybe it's time to start a trend among friends!

I keep my bibs in my dresser with my medals, but I'm thinking about donating my medals to Medals4Mettle (http://medals4mettle.org/) where they are given to children and adults fighting debilitating illnesses. You can get more info by visiting their website, but here's a quick blurb I pulled: "Run fast. Run far. Run for a…

Great idea! I'd love to be a part of this!
