  • Have entered enough 5K's that you never have to buy safety pins again. Are running a 5K and have a weird feeling - then realize that your new running pants are falling down because you didn't pull the drawstring tight enough. That your teenage sons tell you 1) they like your skinny jeans and 2) that you have skinny legs…
  • Either right after work at 4:30 or I wait until my youngest is at swim practice at 6. Although my kids are older. 16 yr old can workout with me. But 11 yr old is too young - gym rules say 14.
  • I'm 42 and have lost 23 lbs. As acquaintances have begun noticing my weight loss I have also gotten alot of comments about looking younger also. I think that the extra weight actually makes people look older most of the time. As for sagging skin, I would say if you lose it at a reasonable rate and stay hydrated, your skin…
  • I would say if your muscles work harder while wearing it (as in extra resistance while doing sit ups) then yes it might be beneficial. Other than that, probably not.
  • I think the key is finding some type of exercise that you like to do, therefore will be more likely to stick to it. The more exercise, the more fit you will become. Every little bit helps. Eating back exercise calories is how MFP is designed. I joined in March and for the first few weeks I was focused mainly on calories.…
  • Yes. Eat at least 1/2 of exercise calories back if not all of them. Yes. Have been losing pretty consistently. (although I seem to lose more when I eat more - go figure) Although I am half way to goal and it seems to have slowed as I get closer. (Have 24 more to go)
  • I'm guilty of eating (and drinking) unhealthy foods. I watch portion sizes and try to remain within calories anyway. The way I see it is if no food is forbidden, then I'm not going to beat myself up for eating it and more likely to stick with the program. And I'm still losing weight the healthy way. (I'm also eating much…
  • Bump. I'll be lucky to taste it with my boys. They love anything involving broccoli and cheese.
  • Do you hold onto the treadmill? Pump your arms outside? That would be my guess.
  • I dont agree that it's more expensive. I bag of potato chips is $3 or $4 here vs.10 lbs of potatoes for the same $ amount. You can do so much more with 10 lbs of potatoes. I have also found that since I am only eating 1 serving size of things instead of 2 or 3 servings that saves also. Also I used to drink soda pop alot,…
  • I'm in again. Can you just copy my weight and measurements that I posted yesterday on Inches for Independence?
  • I had re-adjusted my goals so that I was set at maintenance because I knew I wouldn't have time to workout. I still tried to log everything. Didn't do very bad at all - although I couldn't figure out how to log my activity because I was on a hot air balloon crew. Logged it as weight lifting ~ one great strength training…
  • I need to change my goal for inches lost in July. Original goal was 3 inches. Let's make it 8 inches instead. I don't remember~~ Is someone is doing a spreadsheet for this challenge?
  • You will find support and inspiration here if you choose to use it. Lots of information and supportive people. Also check out the success stories whenever you need that extra push.
  • Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. Triple major in criminal justice, psychology and sociology. Yes I use it everyday. Although sometimes I think I may go back to school and change career paths.
  • Here are today's measurements Waist - 34.5 Hip - 38 Breast - 42 Thigh - 22 each Bicep - 12.5 each
  • Relaxation! Then cook on the grill tonight. Our town had a balloon festival this weekend and I was on a hot air balloon crew. Haven't gotten a formal workout in since Wednesday, but Balloonfest started Thursday night and ran through yesterday morning. Working a balloon crew is one heck of a workout!
  • I'm 5'1", 42 yrs with large frame. I started MFP March 16th weighing in at 183. Lost 23 pounds so far. My goal is 133, but I will re-evaluate as I get closer.

  • That's great. I hope you move as quickly as I did at that size. I was only in 12's for 3 wks before I got to the 10's. Keep up the great work!
  • I had to laugh when I read your post. The last 5K I did was in a part of our county with a large Amish population. The Amish kids came out to the end of their driveways to watch. It was the Amish man in the buggy giving me a thumbs up that shocked me!
  • I was terrified to add more calories also. But I unintentionally did it - cheat and rest day - and saw the scale start moving again. The trick is figuring out what your body responds to. Try one thing for a couple of weeks, if it doesn't seem to change anything, try something else until you find what works for you.
  • I noticed your diary isn't open, therefore it is hard to help. Make sure you are drinking plenty of water. Also since you only have 8 pounds to lose (according to your ticker) you should likely have your goal set to 1/2 pound per week. Sometimes when you increase your calories it is easier to lose. At least when I have hit…
  • Great job! Looking forward to that day!
  • Thanks everyone! I'm really feeling unstoppable now. I was worried about this weekend because there is a big festival going on that I'm involved with. I don't have time to get workouts in and there is 'fair' food. So far it's going very well. And now I'm confident that I will meet my goal and will be able to maintain even…
  • I agree completely. Just do it! I have done 3 now. Still walk some/jog some. But it is such a great motivational tool to help you stay focused in your workouts. Besides after the first one you'll want to work to beat your previous time. Good luck!
  • That's awesome! I've found when the scale refuses to move is the same time the inches begin falling off. Keep up the great work!

  • It is a realistic goal if you stick to your calories and exercise regularly.
