MFP creates a deficit depending on what you set as your goal. Therefore once you tell it your weight, activity level and weight loss (or gain) goals it creates the deficit (or surplus if you are trying to gain) when it determines your calorie goals for the day. I personally eat most of my exercise calories. Beware of…

I didn't like having them sync when I had the fitbit flex. I had to log my workouts separately, and then the fitbit seemed to give me more calories than I thought I should have. Now that I have the fitbit charge I love it. I don't manually add any of my workouts anymore. I use whatever calories the fitbit gives me for…

Hi. I'm Adele (not the singer!!!). I'd like to lose about 40-50 lbs by the end of this year. I need the challenge to jump start this weight loss and keep my motivation going. I had lost quite a bit of that in 2011, but got off track and been having a hard time getting back on track. I will do it this time and keep it off.…

I like to alternate between Arc Trainer, Elliptical, Stationery bike, and Treadmill. I usually do about 30 minutes on one thing, then switch to another for an hour of cardio everyday. I also keep very upbeat music playing on my MP3 and I also either read a kindle book on my phone or watch a TV show that I like. Sometimes I…

I usually find that if I'm within my calories (and not eating too few calories) that when the scale isn't moving, I will be losing inches. Make sure you are taking measurements to compare your measurements.

I would definitely recommend asking someone at the gym to help you with correct settings on the machines. If you dont , you could injure yourself by not using proper form.

I needed to hear this right now. Trying to get back on track.

Mayo Clinic has a chart on their website. http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/exercise/SM00109 One of my favorites isn't on the list - the elliptical.

When you set up your account it asks your activity level. That is so MFP can determine how many calories you need each day. MFP also figures in a calorie deficit based on how much you tell it you want to lose. Then it gives you your exercise calories back so that you can eat those and still remain at a deficit.

Saw a board a couple days ago that may explain the gain. Hope it helps. I always expect a gain the first week of any new plan. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/595473-why-the-scale-goes-up-with-a-%3Cspan%20class=

I'm going to have to withdraw from this challenge. Working on a major project at home on a very limited timeline. Hopefully will find another in April to join.

Not sure about the accuracy of today's weigh-in as my 17 year old son brought me breakfast in bed. SW: 193 (On 1/1) 2/27 179.8 3/1 178.8

I feel safer holding on. Stability or whatever - but it probably has a lot to do with the 4 surgeries my sister-in-law had on her hand & wrist after falling off of one. I much prefer the elliptical or running outside, but that isn't always possible.
